Cancer is a widespread global health problem, claiming millions of lives each year, and skin cancer represents a significant threat as it is one of the most common types. Early tumor detection via medical imaging is critical for effective treatment. Leveraging artificial intelligence, particularly novel models like Transformers, presents promising avenues for improved diagnosis. This paper explores the efficacy of a Collective Intelligence approach using AI in classifying cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, aiming to reduce classification errors and support clinical decision-making. We created five different configurations using various datasets to compare the results. The results show solid performance for the CI in the evaluated tasks, reaching up to 75.89% accuracy. The lack of images in certain classes significantly contributes to overfitting. It is suggested to explore data expansion strategies and improve consistency in image capture for future work.

Stroke is a life-threatening disease usually due to blockage of blood or insufficient blood flow to the *** has a tremendous impact on every aspect of life since it is the leading global factor of disability and *** can range from minor to severe(extensive).Thus,early stroke assessment and treatment can enhance survival *** prediction is extremely time and resource *** prediction methods such as Modern Information and Communication Technologies(ICTs),particularly those inMachine Learning(ML)area,are crucial for the early diagnosis and prognosis of ***,this research proposed an ensemble voting model based on three Machine Learning(ML)algorithms:Random Forest(RF),Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost),and Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LGBM).We apply data preprocessing to manage the outliers and useless instances in the ***,to address the problem of imbalanced data,we enhance the minority class’s representation using the Synthetic Minority Over-Sampling Technique(SMOTE),allowing it to engage in the learning process *** reveal that the suggested model outperforms existing studies and other classifiers with 0.96%accuracy,0.97%precision,0.97%recall,and 0.96%*** experiment demonstrates that the proposed ensemble voting model outperforms state-of-the-art and other traditional approaches.

MLFusion: Multilevel Data Fusion using CNNS for atrial fibrillation detection

Data fusion, involving the simultaneous integration of signals from multiple sensors, is an emerging field that facilitates more accurate inferences in instrumentation applications. This paper presents a novel fusion methodology for multi-sensor multimodal data using convolutional neural networks (CNNs), which introduces a data-driven approach to automatically select the optimal level of information abstraction for fusion. Unlike traditional methods, the proposed model allows for a self-learning fusion process, eliminating the need for manual selection of the fusion level by the designer. The model uniquely integrates feature extraction and fusion into a unified framework, enhancing efficiency and performance. Additionally, the fusion network incorporates signal quality indicators (SQIs) as input streams, enabling the model to account for the quality of each input signal during the fusion process. The methodology is evaluated on the task of atrial fibrillation detection through the fusion of two multimodal signal inputs taken from a portion of the MIMIC III database. The fusion network, using electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethsymogram (PPG) signals as inputs, and trained with an average loss function, achieved an accuracy of 99.33% and a sensitivity of 99.74%. The model's robustness in the presence of noisy inputs is also analyzed, demonstrating the effectiveness of the SQI-based multi-level fusion approach. This novel methodology represents a significant advancement in data fusion by offering a fully automated, quality-aware approach to multi-sensor multimodal signal fusion. © 2025

Due to the lack of effective mpox detection tools, the mpox virus continues to spread worldwide and has been once again declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization. Lightweight deep learning model-based detection systems are crucial to alleviate mpox outbreaks since they are suitable for widespread deployment, especially in resource-limited scenarios. However, the key to its successful application depends on ensuring that the model can effectively model local features and long-range dependencies in mpox lesions while maintaining lightweight. Inspired by the success of Mamba in modeling long-range dependencies and its linear complexity, we proposed a lightweight hybrid architecture called MpoxMamba for efficient mpox detection. MpoxMamba utilizes depth-wise separable convolutions to extract local feature representations in mpox skin lesions and greatly enhances the model’s ability to model the global contextual information by grouped Mamba modules. Notably, MpoxMamba’s parameter size and FLOPs are 0.77M and 0.53G, respectively. Experimental results on two widely recognized benchmark datasets demonstrate that MpoxMamba outperforms state-of-the-art lightweight models and existing mpox detection methods. Importantly, we developed a web-based online application to provide free mpox detection. Many clustering algorithms fail when clusters are of arbitrary shapes, of varying densities, or the data classes are unbalanced and close to each other, even in two dimensions. A novel clustering algorithm "DenMune" is presented to meet this challenge. It is based on identifying dense regions using mutual nearest neighborhoods of size K, where K is the only parameter required from the user, besides obeying the mutual nearest neighbor consistency principle. The algorithm is stable for a wide range of values of K. Moreover, it is able to automatically detect and remove noise from the clustering process as well as detecting the target clusters. It produces robust results on various low and high-dimensional datasets relative to several known state-of-the-art clustering algorithms. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Various deep learning techniques have been employed to diagnose dental caries using X-ray images. In this study, we utilized deep learning models, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and transfer learning models such as Visual Geometry Group (VGG16), VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3, to identify dental caries in periapical radiographs. The traditional CNN model comprises three sets of 2D convolutional layers, followed by an activation layer, a max-pooling layer, a flatten layer, one dense layer, another activation layer, dropout, another dense layer, and a final activation layer. For the VGG models, ResNet50, and Inception V3, the top convolutional layers were frozen to prevent retraining of the model, with only the last layers trained to produce the required output. The accuracy achieved by CNN, VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3 was 90%, 96%, 73%, 70%, and 73%, respectively. VGG16 exhibited the highest accuracy among the models. Hyperparameters were carefully selected using a grid search approach, and the results were validated using the Shuffle-Split-Cross (SSC) validation method. These findings underscore the effectiveness of transfer learning in analyzing medical images, particularly in the diagnosis of dental caries. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This article presents a new robust incentive-based integrated demand response (IDR) model for energy hub systems (EHSs). The considered incentive-based demand response (IBDR) schemes are interruptible/curtailable service and capacity market program. The proposed IDR model integrates the arbitrage ability of EHS storages as well as energy conversion into the IDR model. The objective of the IDR optimization problem is to maximize/minimize the allocated incentives/penalties in targeted time periods by IBDR schemes while supplying must-run processes with no interruption. Uncertainties of load and energy prices are considered through user-defined polyhedral uncertainty sets. A trilevel robust optimization (RO) is developed, which includes a trilevel min-max-min problem. To solve the trilevel adaptive robust model, the column-and-constraint generation technique is employed by means of a decomposition methodology recasting the trilevel model into a single-level min problem and a bilevel max-min problem. Unlike previous RO models that solve the inner max-min problem by duality theory, a block-coordinate-descent (BCD) methodology is used to solve the max-min problem by means of the first-order Taylor series in this study. The use of the BCD technique instead of duality theory enables a recourse-based characterization of integer variables, such as EHS storage status, which was not applicable in previous models (due to the use of duality theory). Moreover, Lagrange multipliers are eliminated as no duality is conducted. A postevent analysis is conducted to justify the long-term performance of the robust solutions and determine the optimal settings of the BCD robust approach. Results indicate that the IDR model significantly reduces the EHS input electricity in targeted time periods (four hours per day) by IBDR schemes and covers the required electricity with must-run processes by combined heat and power unit, using natural gas. The study of electric vehicles (EVs) aims to address the critical challenges of promoting widespread adoption. These challenges include EVs’ high upfront costs compared to conventional vehicles, the need for more sufficient charging stations, limitations in battery technology and charging speeds, and concerns about the distance EVs can travel on a single charge. This paper is dedicated to designing an innovative strategy to handle EV charging station arrangement issues in different cities. Our research will support the development of sustainable transportation by intelligently replying to the challenges related to short ranges and long recharging times through the distribution of fast and ultra-fast charge terminals by allocating demand to charging stations while considering the cost variable of traffic congestion. A hybrid combination of Dynamic Greylag Goose Optimization (DGGO) algorithm, as well as a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, is employed in this approach to determine, in a cost-sensitive way, the location of the parking lots, factoring in the congestion for traffic as a variable. This study examines in detail the experiments on the DGGO + LSTM model performance for the purpose of finding an efficient charging station place. The results show that the DGGO + LSTM model has achieved a stunning accuracy of 0.988,836, more than the other models. This approach shapes our finding’s primary purpose of proposing solutions in terms of EV charging infrastructure optimization that is fully justified to the EV’s wide diffusion and mitigating of the environmental consequences. The agriculture industry contributes one-third of the worldwide Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Moreover, a substantial number of developing countries rely on their agricultural output as it offers job prospects for a considerable portion of the impoverished population. This necessitates the use of techniques to guarantee the precise and effective identification of plant diseases to minimize any detrimental consequences on the crops. Recently, the application of quantum-enhanced techniques to machine learning tasks including recommendation systems, classification, and regression has increased significantly. For this reason, this work suggests using the hybrid quantum-based Resnet18 transfer learning model to categorize and diagnose diseases that impact the leaves of maize plants. The dataset employed consists of four categories including Leaf Blight, Grey Leaf spots, Common Rust, and Healthy leaves. When compared to Resnet18 without quantum, this method outperforms it in terms of recall, accuracy, precision, and f1-score. The validation accuracy of 87% is achieved using the model. In the future, the proposed effort can serve as a practical tool to aid farmers in recognizing the diseases and safeguarding their maize crops.
