Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are characterized by some important attributes, including infrastructure, mobile, and dynamic nature, which makes them have vast applications in different areas of computer networks. The black hole attack falls among the strongly criticized security threats within the framework of the MANETs. This deceptive behavior captures data packets from a source destined for the malicious node and then declines them when they are received. This paper comprehensively reviews prior studies done to analyze and mitigate black hole attacks in MANETs. Besides this, we will conduct a comparative analysis of the research above projects. The present paper extends prior work by actually performing the black hole assault simulations in a MANETs environment. This is done with the aid of the NS2 simulator and the Ad Hoc On-Demands Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. In this study, the black hole attack is analyzed and the consequences of the attack are assessed in terms of the system performance and security. We analyze crucial parameters like end-to-end latency, PDR, packet drop, and throughput to evaluate the consequences of this assault. From our results derived from the analysis of our simulations, we aim to present substantial points to do with the impacts of blackhole attacks on MANETs. In this way, our goal is to participate in the perpetually evolving efforts aimed at enhancing the security and reliability of such dynamic networks.

The issue of building evacuation in the event of a fire is a significant concern in urban planning and architecture. In the absence of appropriate measures, an emergency situation can potentially result in disastrous outcomes. In this review article, we explore the application of agent-based modeling (ABM) in the simulation of building evacuations in the event of a free breakout. To address this issue, we present a synthesis of findings from several studies, highlighting the advantages of ABM in modeling complex evacuation dynamics such as crowd behavior, consideration of multiple parameters, and decision-making processes. Additionally, we provide insight into the simulation tools and techniques used in studies that demonstrate the practical applications of ABM in enhancing evacuation strategies. Furthermore, we identify current challenges, research gaps, and propose future directions to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of fire evacuation modeling and simulations. This study aims to contribute to the improvement of proposed solutions and models for the development of successful, effective, and reliable evacuation plans to enhance the safety of occupants in buildings.

Big data technology is the next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity. Big data analytics in the manufacturing industry is mainly used to process massive data in various manufacturing activities. Today, many industrial companies are starting discussions on the importance of DSS (Decision Support systems) and its cloud processing capability. In recent years different approaches have been developed to provide appropriate solutions for big data and DSS. In this work, we will carry out detailed bibliographical research on the methods and applications of big data for decision making and provide a classification for them. Even if this bibliographic review does not call on all the studies carried out in this field, we believe that it can constitute a valuable source of information, particularly for practitioners in big data and Intelligent Decision-Making.

A requirement analysis method for the design of the upgradable product-service system

For extending the life cycle of products and satisfying the further requirement of customers, product-service system (PSS), an integration of products and services is considered as a promising solution. However, for PSS design, customers’ expectations on the purchased product could be changed due to the development of technology and fashion. For this reason, the life of value might be exhausted before the real life of a product. Although there are some existing upgrade plans or maintenance plans for PSS design, it is found to be risky for PSS firms to provide the mentioned plans that are threatened by various uncertain events. Thus, to achieve an upgradable PSS, it is extremely essential to propose a method to identify the requirement for upgradability based on the perspective of customers. To achieve this aim, this paper has developed a method includes four steps. In step one, a set of definitions is provided to clarify the upgradability of PSS. In step 2, this study utilizes a PEST-OT matrix to analyze the driver of the future development. Step3 uses a persona-based explorative scenario building method to identify the characteristic of targeted customer and build a scenario of interaction between customer and PSS in a future scenario. Step 4 provides a requirement transformation method to transform the requirement into receiver state parameter (RSP). After that, the RSP is transformed into detailed product characteristics (PChs) and service characteristics (SChs). To verify the effectiveness, a case study of shared furniture is used. The result of the case study shows this method could work effectively in a Business-to-Customer business.

With the rising competition among pharmaceutical companies, the current drug supply chain market has become more competitive with high-quality product segments. The rapid growth of internet pharmacies has made it more difficult to standardize drug safety throughout in complex distributed supply chain networks. There is a high chance of introducing counterfeit drugs which are almost the same as the original pharmaceuticals. Due to the lack of transparency the possibility of tampering with drugs in the current manual and web-based pharmaceutical systems is extremely high. Throughout the past recent years, these counterfeit drugs were recognized as the one of major worldwide problems. This situation is worse in developing countries. The unavailability of verifying the legitimacy of drug suppliers and poor mechanisms to trace the drugs were identified as critical points that need to be resolved. SUPPLYDECK comes as a solution for the critical scenario mentioned. This solution addresses the above problems using blockchain technology, as a distributed digital ledger that ensures transparency, traceability, and security. This can show promise for solving some global supply chain management problems using smart contracts and user authentication along with IoT technology and machine learning concepts that are critically examined with this potential application. © 2022 IEEE.

This study analyses the weekly scheduling challenge of health and medical information network service function chains to meet medical emergency categorization and grading needs. Emergency services are divided into four sorts by urgency and service area, with priorities and weights. The health and medical information network architecture, service model, and operation method are built accordingly. To reduce weighted completion time, a service function chain scheduling model is created. The function chain scheduling scheme is solved by matching game and Q -learning reinforcement learning algorithms for different issue scales. Finally, simulation studies demonstrate that this approach can accomplish graded medical emergency service, build health and medical information networks, and progress smart healthcare. © 2024 IEEE.

Secret Image Sharing (SIS) transfers an image to mutually suspicious receivers as $n$ meaningless shares, where $k$ or more shares must be present to recover the secret. This paper proposes a $(k, n)$ -SIS system for any image type using polynomial interpolation based on Lagrange polynomials, where the generated shares are of size $1/k$ of the secret image size. A full encryption system, consisting of substitution and permutation stages, is employed by using the generalized Tent map as a source of randomness. In addition to using a long and sensitive system key, steganography using the Least Significant Bits (LSBs) embedding technique is utilized to improve security. Detailed experimental analysis of the security, robustness and performance of the proposed system is provided, which is more comprehensive than the analyses given in other related works. Security is demonstrated using statistical tests, and robustness against noise and cron attacks is validated.

The vibrations generated by rock blasting are a serious and hazardous outcome of these activities,causing harmful effects on the surrounding environment as well as the nearby *** the local ecology and human communities suffer from the consequences of these *** the severity of blasting vibrations necessitates a thorough evaluation of Peak Particle Velocity(PPV)and frequency,which are essential parameters for measuring vibration *** prediction of vibration occurrence is critically ***,this study employs five machine learning models for predicting the PPV and frequency resulting from quarry *** work compares five machine learning models(XGBoost,Catboost,Bagging,Gradient Boosting,and Random Forest Regression)to choose the most efficient performance *** performance evaluation of each five machine learning models demonstrates each model achieved a performance of more than 0.90 during the testing phase,there was a strong correlation observed between the actual and the predicted *** analysis of performance metrics shows Catboost regression model demonstrate better performance prediction comparing with the other models with R^(2)=0.983,MSE=0.000078,RMSE=0.008,NRMSE=0.019,MAD=0.004,MAPE=35.197 in the PPV prediction,and R^(2)=0.975,MSE=0.000243,RMSE=0.015,NRMSE=0.031,MAD=0.008,MAPE=37.281 for the frequency *** study will help mining engineers and blasting experts to select the best machine learning model and its hyperparameters in estimating ground vibration,and *** the context of the mining and civil industry,the application of this study offers significant potential for enhancing safety protocols and optimizing operational *** employing machine learning models,this research aims to accurately predict and assess ground vibrations with frequency resulting from rock blasting.

For better protection of distributed systems, two well-known techniques are: checkpointing and rollback recovery. While failure protection is often considered a separate issue, it is crucial for establishing better secure distributed systems. This article is dedicated to the proposal of a new checkpointing algorithm for saving a consistent-transaction state in distributed databases ensuring that database management systems are able, after a failure, to recover the state of the database. The proposed communication-induced algorithm does not hamper the normal transaction processing and saves a global consistent-transaction state that records only the fully completed transactions. Analysis and experimental results of our proposal show that the proposed scheme saves a minimum number of forced checkpoints and has some performance gains compared to the alternative approaches. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
