Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk assessment and prognosis in otherwise healthy people is an important part of disease management. Early detection and diagnosis of CVD, supported by the extensive health data on the condition already stored in hospital systems, has the ability to greatly improve disease outcomes. Clinical practice for the management of Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) stands to benefit greatly from the use of machine learning approaches. Patients and the healthcare system can save money thanks to these methods, which can be used to create evidence-based clinical guidelines and management algorithms. This will cut down on expensive and time-consuming clinical and laboratory examinations. This study suggests creating new deep learning algorithms that can automatically identify important variables and detect early-stage heart disease;these algorithms should be resilient, effective, efficient, and unique in order to improve early anticipation and interference for CVDs. An F1-score of around 89% is produced by the suggested Catboost model. Hence, it outperformed numerous other state-of-the-art methods by maximizing classification efficiency with better correctness and precision. © 2024 IEEE.

Data-driven business models imply the inter-organisational exchange of data or similar value objects. Data science methods enable organisations to discover patterns and eventually knowledge from data. Further, by training machine learning models, knowledge is materialised in those models. Thus, organisations might risk the exposure of competitive knowledge by sharing data-related value objects, such as data, models or predictions. Although knowledge risks have been studied in traditional business models, little research has been conducted in the direction of data-driven business models. In this explorative qualitative study, we conducted 28 expert interviews in three rounds (two exploratory and one evaluatory) and identified five types of risks along the three basic types of value objects: data, models and predictions. These risks depend on the context, i.e., when competitive knowledge could be discovered from shared value objects. We found that those risks can be mitigated by technology, contractual regulations, trusted relationships, and adjusting the business model design. In this study, we show that the risk of knowledge leakage is a relevant risk factor in data-driven business models. Overall, knowledge risks should be considered already during business model design, and their management requires an interdisciplinary approach via a balanced assessment. The level of knowledge protection from a technology perspective highly depends on computer science innovations and thus is a moving target. As an outlook, we suggest that knowledge risk will become even more relevant with the extensive usage of machine learning and artificial intelligence in data-driven business models. © The Author(s) 2024.

Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Nowadays, the risk estimators are to be applied based on the population characteristics of their country, which is termed as race attribute. There were specific tools to determine the risk of cardiovascular disease. Among many diseases, the mortality rate of the people is increasing due to a lack of quality lifestyle. In order to provide a guide to the individual based on their specific characteristics and lifestyle, would classify the risk into specific categories like severe (High), Moderate, and normal(Low) with pre-defined threshold constraints. The risk assessment estimators alert the individual to control certain modifiable attributes irrespective of their non-modifiable elements. The integration of random forests and intelligent rule mining would generate the CVD risk prediction. Efficiency as well as interpretability are important in this competitive hybrid model. The ultimate benefits assured are extending the lives of the patients by knowing the importance of daily work, habits, and their control food, presenting a powerful opportunity by practicing better personalization monitoring and improved patient care, and improved informed decisions for immediate action. The early prevention initiation by identifying the risk severity optimizes follow-up of better practices and treatment styles, resulting in improved decision making for better health care of the individual. © 2025 IEEE.

The concept of privacy-by-design has gained considerable attention in the wake of legal requirements that software systems should fulfill. The interconnected knowledge on privacy concepts, legal requirements, and software development artifacts required to implement this concept can be a major burden for organizations. To address this challenge, we propose a knowledge graph-based Exploratory Search system to help organizations complete privacy engineering tasks. We identify major requirements of such systems and develop an Exploratory Search prototype built on privacy engineering knowledge that integrates different information sources. While still preliminary, this work serves as a foundation for future research on integrating privacy knowledge into software development and demonstrates the potential of Exploratory Search systems to support the cognitive process in privacy tasks such as privacy threat identification. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

The public’s health is seriously at risk from the coronavirus pandemic. Millions of people have already died as a result of this devastating illness, which affects countless people daily worldwide. Unfortunately, no specific therapeutic drugs or vaccines are available to cure patients completely. Therefore, early identification of infected individuals and their isolation can help reduce community transmission of COVID-19. Despite being commonly used, the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test is costly, time-consuming, and requires suitable kits, which are not always readily available. An alternative solution for the traditional RT-PCR test is machine learning and deep learning-based COVID-19 detection that utilizes clinical features of chest X-rays and computed tomography (CT) images. In this study, we conducted a detailed review of more than 100 recently published works to detect COVID-19-infected patients. Thus, different data preprocessing, data augmentation, image enhancement, feature extraction, machine learning, deep learning, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, etc. were explored to understand how these techniques were used to process images for identifying COVID-19. Extracting parameters accurately and effectively from solar photovoltaic (PV) models is crucial for detailed simulation, evaluation, and management of PV systems. Although there has been an increase in the development of analytical, numerical, and metaheuristic methods targeting this task, accurately determining these parameters continues to be a significant challenge. This study focuses on applying Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for the extraction of key parameters of RTC France solar cells, a critical step towards enhancing PV system efficiency and reliability. Additionally, the PSO's performance is evaluated against other metaheuristic algorithms including Enhanced Chaotic JAYA (CJAYA), Performance-Guided JAYA (PGJAYA), and Enhanced Gradient-Based Optimizer (EGBO), underscoring the effectiveness of the proposed PSO-based approach. Utilizing MATLAB-SIMULINK, comprehensive analysis and results are presented, shedding light on the efficacy of PSO in addressing the intricacies of parameter extraction in PV systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
