We introduce comparisons w.r.t. information between interpretations in paraconsistent description logics and use them to define bisimilarity for such logics. This notion is useful for concept learning in description logics when inconsistencies occur. We give preservation results and the Hennessy-Milner property for comparisons w.r.t. information in paraconsistent description logics. As consequences, we obtain also invariance results and the Hennessy-Milner property for bisimilarity in paraconsistent description logics. © 2017 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.

Automated color classification of urine dipstick image in urine examination

Urine examination using urine dipstick has long been used to determine the health status of a person. The economical and convenient use of urine dipstick is one of the reasons urine dipstick is still used to check people health status. The real-life implementation of urine dipstick is done manually, in general, that is by comparing it with the reference color visually. This resulted perception differences in the color reading of the examination results. In this research, authors used a scanner to obtain the urine dipstick color image. The use of scanner can be one of the solutions in reading the result of urine dipstick because the light produced is consistent. A method is required to overcome the problems of urine dipstick color matching and the test reference color that have been conducted manually. The method proposed by authors is Euclidean Distance, Otsu along with RGB color feature extraction method to match the colors on the urine dipstick with the standard reference color of urine examination. The result shows that the proposed approach was able to classify the colors on a urine dipstick with an accuracy of 95.45%. The accuracy of color classification on urine dipstick against the standard reference color is influenced by the level of scanner resolution used, the higher the scanner resolution level, the higher the accuracy.

Starting of a medium or large induction motors generate such a large current during direct-on-line (DOL) starting process to the point that it can drop the voltage of power supply. The induction motor can be broken, its characteristics can be changed, and performances of the motor can be worsened. A significant higher starting current than the rated current can generate mechanical and thermal stress on the motor and the loads. High-voltage fluctuations, dips and sags can arise in electrical power systems associated with the motor. To overcome this problem, various starters were designed. There are several types of starters in which can be divided into conventional starters and power electronic drives. Conventional starters are such as direct-online, star-delta and autotransformer whereas the example for power electronics are matrix converter, frequency inverter and soft starter. In this paper, the design of autotransformer and soft starter are focused in order to compare inrush current during the start-up three phase medium sized industrial induction motor by using MATLAB/Simulink software. Both starters were targeted to resolve the problems inherent in the dynamic operation of induction motors, which included current and torque surges during the motor start up. The autotransformer gives the choice to consumer in selecting different tap values, in which is the advantage to consumer to vary their starting current and starting torque according to its application. On the other hand, the three-phase soft starter employs two anti-parallel connected switches in each phase. Thyristors act as the switches due to their higher power rating and high efficiency. Then, both methods will be compared to prove the best performance in mitigate high inrush current. The best of the two is likely to be the answer for mitigating the issue of high inrush starting current for a medium size motor at industries.

Nowadays, messaging technology in digital data form more often used and not less messages that confidentially wanted. Then it should be modified so that can be understood only by the sender and the intended recipients. All of this system can be realization by using cryptography. LUC algorithms are introduced by Smith and Lennon in 1993. LUC algorithm is an algorithm that based on the use of Lucas sequence (specific arithmetic operations derived from Lucas row) that rarely used to enhance the security of the messages. In this research, LUC algorithm is combined with visual cryptography to process the encryption and the description of a colored image. Four different images were used in the trial here. The performance of the system is assessed using Structural similarity (SSIM) which has an assessment similar to human eye. If the image quality is the same as the original image, then the SSIM value is one. Whereas if the quality of decryption image is very different from the original image then the value of SSIM is zero. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

High-pressure synthesis of denser glass has been a longstanding interest in condensed-matter physics and materials science because of its potentially broad industrial application. Nevertheless, understanding its nature under extreme pressures has yet to be clarified due to experimental and theoretical challenges. Here we reveal the formation of OSi4 tetraclusters associated with that of SiO7 polyhedra in SiO2 glass under ultrahigh pressures to 200 gigapascal confirmed both experimentally and theoretically. Persistent homology analyses with molecular dynamics simulations found increased packing fraction of atoms whose topological diagram at ultrahigh pressures is similar to a pyrite-type crystalline phase, although the formation of tetraclusters is prohibited in the crystalline phase. This critical difference would be caused by the potential structural tolerance in the glass for distortion of oxygen clusters. Furthermore, an expanded electronic band gap demonstrates that chemical bonds survive at ultrahigh pressure. This opens up the synthesis of topologically disordered dense oxide glasses.

This paper represents a novel regenerative braking approach for the Electric Vehicles. The proposed method solves the short-range problem which is corresponding to the charge of the battery pack. The DTC switching algorithm has been modified to recover the electrical energy from Electrical Vehicle (EV), driven by Brushless DC motor, without using the additional power converter or the other electrical energy storage devices. During regenerative braking process, different switching pattern is applied to the inverter to convert the mechanical energy to the electrical energy through the reverse diodes. This switching pattern is different from the normal operation due to the special arrangement of voltage vectors which is considered to convert the mechanical energy to electrical energy. The state of charge of the battery is used as a performance indicator of the method. Simultaneously, a model reference adaptive system has been designed to tune the system's parameters. Several simulations are carried out to validate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show the high capability and performance of the designed method. Modeling of information diffusion on social networks with applications to WeChat

Traces of user activities recorded in online social networks such as the creation, viewing and forwarding/sharing of information over time open new possibilities to quantitatively and systematically understand the information diffusion process on social networks. From an online social network like WeChat, we could collect a large number of information cascade trees, each of which tells the spreading trajectory of a message/information such as which user creates the information and which users view or forward the information shared by which neighbours. In this work, we propose two heterogeneous non-linear models, one for the topologies of the information cascade trees and the other for the stochastic process of information diffusion on a social network. Both models are validated by the WeChat data in reproducing and explaining key features of cascade trees. Specifically, we firstly apply the Random Recursive Tree (RRT) to model the cascade tree topologies, capturing key features, i.e. the average path length and degree variance of a cascade tree in relation to the number of nodes (size) of the tree. The RRT model with a single parameter θ describes the growth mechanism of a tree, where a node in the existing tree has a probability dθi of being connected to a newly added node that depends on the degree di of the existing node. The identified parameter θ quantifies the relative depth or broadness of the cascade trees, indicating that information propagates via a star-like broadcasting or viral-like hop by hop spreading. The RRT model explains the appearance of hubs, thus a possibly smaller average path length as the cascade size increases, as observed in WeChat. We further propose the stochastic Susceptible View Forward Removed (SVFR) model to depict the dynamic user behaviors including creating, viewing, forwarding and ignoring a message on a given social network. Recent developments in data science in general and machine learning in particular have transformed the way experts envision the future of surgery. Surgical Data Science (SDS) is a new research field that aims to improve the quality of interventional healthcare through the capture, organization, analysis and modeling of data. While an increasing number of data-driven approaches and clinical applications have been studied in the fields of radiological and clinical data science, translational success stories are still lacking in surgery. In this publication, we shed light on the underlying reasons and provide a roadmap for future advances in the field. Based on an international workshop involving leading researchers in the field of SDS, we review current practice, key achievements and initiatives as well as available standards and tools for a number of topics relevant to the field, namely (1) infrastructure for data acquisition, storage and access in the presence of regulatory constraints, (2) data annotation and sharing and (3) data analytics. We further complement this technical perspective with (4) a review of currently available SDS products and the translational progress from academia and (5) a roadmap for faster clinical translation and exploitation of the full potential of SDS, based on an international multi-round Delphi process. © 2020, CC BY.

A Low-Complexity Subgroup Formation with QoS-Aware for Enhancing Multicast Services in LTE Networks

The high demand of Multimedia services on in Long Term Evolution (LTE) and beyond networks forces the networks operators to find a solution that can handle the huge traffic. Along with this, subgroup formation techniques are introduced to overcome the limitations of the Conventional Multicast Scheme (CMS) by splitting the multicast users into several subgroups based on the users' channels quality signal. However, finding the best subgroup configuration with low complexity is need more investigations. In this paper, an efficient and simple subgroup formation mechanisms are proposed. The proposed mechanisms take the transmitter MAC queue in account. The effectiveness of the proposed mechanisms is evaluated and compared with CMS in terms of throughput, fairness, delay, Block Error Rate (BLER).
