While Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks (STGCNs) are an effective method for traffic speed fore-casting, their training and inference tend to be time-consuming. In this paper, we aim to refine these networks by strategically reducing their number of nodes, thereby boosting computational efficiency. The nodes in these graphs represent data observed for road segments, and by analyzing the interconnections and layout of the graph, we can identify nodes with minimal contribution to overall performance. Removing these nodes can potentially decrease computation time while maintaining the prediction accuracy. We employ the Biased Random-Key Genetic Algorithm (BRKGA) to identify a good set of nodes for removal, based on a predefined percentage reduction of the original graph size (e.g., retaining 95 % of the original graph). We evaluate different graph size configurations, ranging from 95 % to 70 % node retention, to determine the least impactful node set performance. Our experiments on three real-world datasets reveal that reducing nodes can decrease computation time by up to 29%, and as a byproduct of removing noise, even improve the prediction accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

The radar is considered as one of tracking application which we need to tracking unknown targets. This application is using a kalman filter. Also the extended and unscented kalman filter has been created to deal with nonlinear systems such as multidimensional radar tracking. If wideband radar is used, multiple return signals may be obtained by scattering on a single target in a single pulse. It is important to monitor multiple dispersions on an undefined number of artifacts in the specific problem considered, with a standard wideband radar model, whose motion involves a nonlinear rotational velocity component. The measurements used are scattered range, range-rate (in analogy to Doppler), nonlinear functions of the scattered position and velocity, with parameters in the state-space model. In order to evaluate the scene and observe its progression over time, the tracker design uses a Kalman Filter type to model the nonlinear dynamics and measurement items and a multi-pronged association scheme. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we aim to reduce the number of nodes from Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), thereby simplifying models and reducing computational costs. GNNs are highly effective for various tasks, such as prediction, classification, and clustering, due to their ability to learn node and edge attributes and relationships, and they have been utilized for intelligent transportation systems recently by converting sensor networks into graph structures. Deep spatio-temporal neural networks, including Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks (STGCNs), capture spatial and temporal dependencies, making them suitable for traffic speed forecasting, traffic demand prediction, and travel time estimation. Despite their success, GNNs face challenges in industrial applications due to significant memory usage and time consumption. In this paper, we propose a new approach to node reduction that outperforms existing methods in computational efficiency. Our experiments on two real-world traffic datasets demonstrate that using the heuristic and edge information to reduce nodes can cut computation time of optimization up to 95% and, by eliminating noise, can even enhance prediction accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Hyperparameter optimization (HPO) is paragon to maximize performance when designing machine learning models. Among different HPO methods, Genetic Algorithm (GA) based optimization is considered effective because it allows a wide and diverse range of solutions to be explored. However, GA's exploratory nature makes this type of algorithm to evaluate many solutions that do not improve the overall performance. This is specially costly when the objective function to be evaluated is time-consuming, like in the HPO field. In this paper, we propose an efficient hybrid algorithm that is able to reduce computational cost by combining deep reinforcement learning with the Biased Random Key Genetic Algorithm (BRKGA), a variant of genetic algorithms. Our reinforcement learning agent has a decision-making role during the population's fitness calculation, in which it filters out chromosomes that would not improve the overall fitness of the population. The agent uses small amounts of pre-trained data to identify trends in potentially good solutions, and carry out its decision process. We conduct experiments on eight different datasets to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce the computation time of hyperparameter search using BRKGA (up to 44% reduction in computational time) without compromising the quality of the solution (no statistically difference in results). © 2024 IEEE.

Differential evolution (DE) is a widely recognized method to solve complex optimization problems as shown by many researchers. Yet, non-adaptive versions of DE suffer from insufficient exploration ability and uses no historical information for its performance enhancement. This work proposes Fractional Order Differential Evolution (FODE) to enhance DE performance from two aspects. Firstly, a bi-strategy co-deployment framework is proposed. The population-based and parameter-based strategies are combined to leverage their respective advantages. Secondly, the fractional order calculus is first applied to the differential vector to enhance DE’s exploration ability by using the historical information of populations, and ensures the diversity of population in an evolutionary process. We use the 2017 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) test functions, and CEC2011 real-world problems to evaluate FODE’s performance. Its sensitivity to parameter changes is discussed and an ablation study of multi-strategies is systematically performed. Furthermore, the variations of exploration and exploitation in FODE are visualized and analyzed. Experimental results show that FODE is superior to other state-of-the-art DE variants, the winners of CEC competitions, other fractional order calculus-based algorithms, and some powerful variants of classic algorithms. Bowel preparation is considered a critical step in colonoscopy. Manual bowel preparation assessment is time consuming and prone to human errors and biases. Automatic Bowel evaluation using machine/deep learning is a better and efficient alternative. Most of the relevant literature have focused on achieving high validation accuracy, where private handy-picked dataset does not reflect real-environment situation. Furthermore, treating a video dataset as a collection of individual frames may produce overestimated results. This is due to the fact a video contains nearly identical consecutive frames, hence, dividing them into training and validation sets yields two similar distributed datasets. Given a public dataset, Nerthus, we show empirically a significant drop in performance when a video dataset is treated as a collection of videos (depicting the real environment/context), instead of a collection of individual frames. We propose a model that utilizes both sequence and none-sequence (spatial) information within videos. The proposed model achieved on average 83% validation accuracy across 4 validation sets, whereas, the state-of-the-art models achieved on average a range of 66%–72% validation accuracy. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Digital transformation is about transforming processes, business models, domains, and culture. Studies show that the failure rate of digital transformation is quite high up to 90%. Studies show that the transformational leadership model has a significant impact on digital transformation adoption. This paper identifies the positive and negative attributes of transformational leadership including the components that support and are affected for successful adoption of digital transformation. Furthermore, the paper combines several findings related to the attributes and components in the form of a conceptual framework. The Internet of Things (IoT) has gained attention for its rapid growth in the past few years. IoT devices such as temperature and humidity sensors and voice controllers are implemented widely, from household appliances to industrial machines. However, with the rapid growth and benefits IoT offers, we are exposed to various security vulnerabilities, such as data breaches and IoT-specific malware. Researchers are using IoT device identification as a solution for IoT security issues. IoT device identification helps network administrators identify network traffic into its originating devices. However, researchers often overlook an important issue in IoT device identification, which is accuracy degradation over time. Thus, this paper explores the severity of accuracy degradation in IoT device identification on different traffic representation approaches, which are flow, sub-flow, and packet. This paper utilizes a private, and the UNSW IoT Traffic Traces public dataset. Based on the experimental findings, the sub-flow-based approach recorded the best overall performance, with only 8% degradation in the private dataset and 1% degradation in the public dataset. Meanwhile, even though the packet-based approach only degraded 5% on the private dataset, it recorded up to an 11% accuracy decrease in the public dataset. © 2022 IEEE.
