Medical images are known to have poor quality which leads to difficulty in vision and segmentation process. Mainly, noise and intensity in homogeneity are two main characteristics that lead to gaps (missing at edges) at the boundary of the desired object. This paper investigated method that managed to smooth the image texture in order to overcome the gaps problem. Our method adopts the morphological closing operations using the diamond-shape structuring elements to overcome the above-mentioned problem. We applied the dilation and erosion operation to expand and later smooth the regions with gaps. Our method shows satisfaction results when dealing with binary image rather than working with gradient. The results obtained shows better accuracy as the evolving curve is following the pixels value in the binary image. The method proposed is executed based on the output from Local binary fitting energy.

Our previous study successfully improved short term memory by individual alpha neurofeedback training. However, short term memory and its improvement in different languages are still not clear. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to evaluate the memory performance in alphabetic and ideographic language groups. Besides, the relationship between initial memory and its improvement was investigated. The results indicated short term memory in ideographic language was higher than those in alphabetic language and forward digit span improvement was positive related to its initial performance. © 2012 IEEE.

Fault detection methodology is a crucial part in providing a scalable, dependable and high availability of grid computing environment. The most popular technique that used in detecting fault is heartbeat mechanism where it monitors the grid resources in a very short interval. However, the heartbeat mechanism-based technique for fault detection suffers from weaknesses of either fast detection with low accuracy or completeness in detecting failures with a lengthy timeout. In this paper, we propose Affirmative Adaptive Failure Detection (AAFD). In this technique, the integration of newly proposed failure detection algorithm and the ping service is essential not only for dynamically improving certainty level of accuracy, but it is also very significant in verifying the aliveness of a site for strong completeness failure detection and reduces waiting time. The model outperforms the existing techniques by 18% to 39% in term of algorithm performance. On the average, AAFD detection is about 30% better than other detection algorithms. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

An innovative way of object shape representation using Density Histogram of Feature Points (DHFP) is introduced and used in this paper. We have named this method Enhanced Density Histogram of Feature Points (EDHFP). We use silhouette images where the image region ξ consists of only those pixels that correspond to points on the object and have a value one (1) indicating "on" pixels. We count the number of "on" pixels in rectangle boundaries around a centroid, in the event that there are no "on" pixels in a rectangle boundary then the value is zero. The similarity level indicator is introduced to form part of vector a representation of the object shape. This method of image representation shows improved retrieval rate when compared to Density Histogram of Feature Points (DHFP) representation method. This method is capable of grouping object shapes with high probability of being similar using the similarity level indicator before calculation of similarity distance. Analytic analysis is done to justify our method, experiments are conducted and we compared our results with the object shape representation by DHFP to prove EDHFP's robustness. © 2012 IEEE.

A trajectory generator based on vehicle kinematics model was presented and an integrated navigation simulation system was *** that the tight relation between vehicle motion and topography,a new trajectory generator for vehicle was proposed for more actual ***,a vehicle kinematics model was built based on conversion of attitude vector in different coordinate ***,the principle of common trajectory generators was ***,combining the vehicle kinematics model with the principle of dead reckoning,a new vehicle trajectory generator was presented,which can provide process parameters of carrier anytime and achieve simulation of typical actions of running ***,IMU(inertial measurement unit) elements were simulated,including accelerometer and *** setting up the simulation conditions,the integrated navigation simulation system was verified by final performance *** result proves the validity and flexibility of this design.

Knowledge is the most important strategic tool for improving and maintaining organizational performance. Knowledge has become the essential part of every successful organization. This makes the organizations to put more effort in managing knowledge in a new systematic and effective way to accomplish it goals. Organization must be able to identify the need for introducing technology and process to contribute in facilitating knowledge sharing within the organization. This paper explains how influence and effective knowledge sharing is on educating and motivating the employees toward the organizational goals, the paper further explain the impact on knowledge sharing on organizational knowledge management as part of knowledge management to increase the level of employee knowledge and performance in the organization.

The critical path of a composite Web application operating in volatile environments, i.e., the execution path in the service composition with the maximum execution time, should be prioritised in cost-effective monitoring as it determines the response time of the Web application. In volatile operating environments, the critical path of a Web application is probabilistic. As such, it is important to estimate the criticalities of the execution paths, i.e., the probabilities that they are critical, to decide which parts of the system to monitor. We propose a novel approach to the identification of Probabilistic Critical Path for Service-based Web Applications (PCP-SWA), which calculates the criticalities of different execution paths in the context of service composition. We evaluate PCP-SWA experimentally using an example Web application. Compared to random monitoring, PCP-SWA based monitoring is 55.67% more cost-effective on average. The paper presents a case report of the therapy by neurofeedback training of a chronic female schizophrenia outpatient. The purpose of the neurofeedback training was to enhance cognition, memory and behavioral performance. We used an intensive approach. All the training sessions were performed during 4 consecutive days. The results showed that the patient learnt to increase individual alpha amplitude and simultaneously decrease beta2 (20-30 Hz) amplitude at P4 site during active state over sessions. The individual alpha increased 74.73% and beta2 decreased 13.73%. The short term memory was enhanced after training. Her mood had positive change and her speech was much clearer than before. She started to associate the meaning of her life and illness. These results support that neurofeedback is not only a feasible therapy for schizophrenia but also positive results could be obtained using a much more intensive training sessions than the one reported in the literature. © 2012 IEEE.

Smart Mobile Devices (SMD) are there for many years but using them as learning tools started to emerge as new research area. The trend to merge collaborative learning methodology by using mobile devices in informal context is important for implementation of Learner Centric Learning (LCL). Survey and numerous studies show that more than 95% of students in colleges are users of these smart mobile devices in developed world. Developing counties are also catching up and we can see this percentage is almost same in university level in these countries. Students are using SMDs for learning in some form. Higher education Institutions also try to embark their E-learning to Mobile learning (ML). The aim of this paper is to do propose operational framework for designing Mobile Collaborative Informal learning activities using SMDs. Show results of experimental and case study done to study the Mobile Collaborative Informal learning using Activity Theory (AT). Core Components of framework are Mobile Learning Activities/Objects, Wireless/Mobile Smart devices, Collaborative knowledge and Collaborative learning.
