The experiment was conducted to determine the Hue optical properties of the three categories of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) namely unripe, underripe and ripe. The Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital camera with tele-converter zooming and the Keyence machine vision were used to capture the FFB images with two different settings of natural environment and direct sunlight. The species of oil palm tree used for the experiments were Elaeis Oleifera and Elaeis Guineensis Jacq. The images from the Nikon digital camera were analysed for optical properties of Red, Green, Blue (RGB) and then convert to Hue value using developed graphical user interface (GUI). The Hue values will then be compared to the value obtained from Keyence machine vision. The images of oil palm FFB in plantation were captured with setting cameras parameter namely shutterspeed which set to 0.125 seconds, image sensor's sensitivity (ISO) was set to Normal and white balance were calibrated using the standard white calibration CR-A74. The lighting intensity under oil palm canopy was simultaneously recorded and monitored using Extech Light Meter Datalogger. Using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), the ratio of test statistic of F with F critical for experiments under natural environment of oil palm plantation indicated the best differences of the hue optical properties among different maturity level of unripe, ripe and overripe FFB. Using the SAS programming for statistical analysis, the Hue and Red color values were found had significant effect to distinguish the maturity level (fm) of FFB with Pr > F are showed less than 0.01. The Green and Blue color values were not significant effect to differentiate the FFB maturity level which indicated the value of Pr > F showed 0.0243 and 0.9938 respectively. The Hue and Blue color values were not interaction with different lighting condition and the maturity level which indicated Pr > F for ml*fm showed 0.0668 and 0.1667 respectively. For decades, several image enhancement techniques have been proposed. Although most techniques require profuse amount of advance and critical steps, the result for the perceive image are not as satisfied. In this study, we proposed a new method to enhance the satellite image which using intelligent aspect of filtering and describe multi-threshold technique with an additional step in order to obtain the perceived image. In this way, several simple filters can be combined to form a more efficient and more flexible context dependent filter. This paper proposes a new idea for edge enhancement using smoothing techniques. Various smoothing technologies are explored and implemented for comparing their performance with various threshold values. Comparison is done by qualitative and quantitative approaches. From the results, specific filtering is only applied to the region for which it is suitable. We also evaluate the image quality. The proposed method shows dramatically increase in pixel distribution throughout the range of RGB. The result of this research is also beneficial in terms of geographical views due to the process which determined the difference appeared on each area.

The eco tourism is a kind of tourism that is one way of traveling to natural and cultural with responsibility by not disturb or destroy natural resources and environment but having the main objective to see, learn and enjoy the scenario, forest, wild animals and also the cultural appeared in that area. The national park is one example of the eco tourism places where the tourists pay an attention to due with high competitive in tourist industrial, and high number of TV commercial and other medias. For the past 10 years statistics of visitor in national park, there is a decreasing of tourists and less realize on eco tourism. From the mentioned problems above, the researcher arises the concept of developing the web-based decision support system for eco tourism planning by selecting the national park in Chiangmai province where most of national parks located. Moreover, national parks in Chiangmai province has biological diversity and natural diversity suitable for begin promoted to be eco tourism place. This research explains the concept and two models developing method of web-based decision support system for eco tourism planning to allow the user chooses, the result is the users have a good satisfaction on the system.

This paper compares the efficiency of on-off Keying (OOK) modulation formats non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and return-to-zero (RZ) in both electrical and optical chromatic dispersion compensation. While In electrical compensator feed forward-decision feedback equalizer (FFE-DFE) method was applied, Dispersion Compensation Fiber (DCF) was chosen to evaluate the effect of modulation format on them. Transmission distance, subsequently are varied in both systems with mentioned compensation systems to evaluate the Bit Error Rate (BER) regarding to mentioned modulation techniques.

The electric power is indispensable for modern life. However, there is a problem of harmonic disturbance when the harmonic power runs into electronic devices. To overcome the problem and realize a stable supply of the electric power is an important issue. In this study, we have developed a voltage-current waveform telemetry system for the remote measurement of the harmonics in the power delivery lines. The system consists of sensors, preamplifiers, a single board computer, and power collectors. Improvements are made on all of these components except the sensors. The power collector is a coil that can be placed around the same power line that we measure. We have designed the power collector by a finite element method(FEM) so that it can provide enough electricity for the computer to work properly. Thus, no other power source such as a battery except the secondary rechargeable battery for the recovery is necessary at the measurement place. The preamplifier in the new system is a single-supply differential amplifier circuit, and the single board computer has an inexpensive SH-3 CPU. Through experiments, we have confirmed that the power collector can provide sufficient electricity and that the new system can successfully measure the waveforms and the harmonics in power delivery systems. © 2011 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

When a robot is required to safely interact with a physical environment, two approaches are typically reported in literature: using a force/torque sensor to regulate the interaction forces at the end effector, or integrating sensors in each robot joint to regulate their torques. In this paper we want to discuss the benefits and the disadvantages of the two approaches, showing a direct comparison between the information which can be obtained from the two categories of sensors. Results obtained on the new iCub arm, which integrates torque sensing capabilities at joint level will be presented and discussed.

In this paper we investigate the problem of gathering the data in wireless sensor network using a single Mobile Element. In particular we consider the case where the data are produced by measurements and they need to be delivered to a predefined sink within a given time interval from the time the measurement takes place. A mobile element travels the network in predefined paths, collect the data from the nodes, and deliver them to the sink by a single long-distance transmission. In this problem, the length of the mobile element path is bounded by pre-determined length. This path will visit a subset of the nodes. These selected nodes will work as caching points and will aggregate the other nodes' data. The caching point nodes are selected with the aim of reducing the energy expenditures due to multi-hop forwarding. We provide a heuristic-based solution for this problem. We evaluate the performance of our algorithm by comparing it to the optimal solution as well as the best well-known algorithms from the literature.

A multi-level decision making problem confronts several issues especially in coordinating decision in hierarchic processes and in compromising conflicting objectives for each decision level. Therefore, its mathematical model plays a pivotal role in solving such problem, and is influencing to the final result. However, it is sometimes difficult to estimate the coefficients of objective functions of the model in real situations specifically when the statistical data contain random and fuzzy information. Thus, decision making scheme should provide an appropriate method to handle the presence of such uncertainties. Hence, this paper proposes a fuzzy random regression method to estimate the coefficients value for the objective functions of multi-level multi-objective model. The algorithm is constructed to obtain a satisfaction solution, which fulfills at least weak Pareto optimality. A numerical example illustrates the proposed solution procedure.

On the controller synthesis for probabilistic systems of conflict tolerant specification

For an embedded control system, different requirements maybe need be satisfied at same time. Always some of them makes the system to act inconsistently, or even conflicted. Conflict tolerant specification is provided to denote this situation. In such a system, there often exist probabilistic and non-deterministic behaviors. We use Markov Decision Process (MDP) to denote these features. Based on this context, we study the controller synthesis for MDP over conflict tolerant specification. We extend PCTL star by adding past operator to denote the conflict tolerant specification succinctly. We use CT-PLTL to denote possibly conflicted actions and PCTL to denote the specification for probability demand. We first synthesize a controller on a base system over CT-PLTL and then use it to prune the corresponding MDP of the system model. We use the resulting sub-MDP as the model to further synthesis a controller over PCTL. The whole controller for MDP is a conjunction of the two controllers obtained. Learning Object (LO) is one of the main research topics in the e-learning community in the recent years, and most researchers pay attention to the issue of Learning Object Reusability. The most obvious motivation is the economic interest of reusing learning material instead of repeatedly authoring it. In this paper we present the process of creating granular learning object for enabling the reusing of LO in e-Learning context. Reusability requires the LO to be in a fine-grain form because raw media elements are often much easier to reuse then aggregate assemblies. In other words, as the LO size decreases (lower granularity), its potential for reuse increases. A prototype of learning objects repository that contain granular LO has been developed to show the process of granularizing LO. Each of existing LO will be extracted into granular element with the metadata and the system generated unique id for each LO based on its identifier (URL of LO) and save automatically the metadata contain in the LO. These metadata will be used for searching and retrieval process of the granule LO.
