The revolution in web world led to increasing users' needs, demands and expectations. By the time, those needs developed starting from ordinary static pages, moving on to fully dynamic ones and reaching the need for services and applications to be available on the web!.. Those demands changed the perspective of our web today to what's said to be a cloud of computing that aims mainly to provide applications as services for web user. As time goes by, applications were just not enough;users needed their applications and data available anytime, anywhere. For these reasons, traditional operating system functionality was needed to be provided as a service that integrates several applications together with user's data. In this paper we present the detailed description, implementation and evaluation of SEWOS [1]- a semantically enhanced web operating system- that provides the feel, look and mimic traditional desktop applications using desktop metaphor.

In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) communication, authentication between the communicating nodes is an important aspect and has gained intensive interest from the researcher all around the world. With the advance of the technology where the communication devices are all in small form factor, high speed and low cost authentication scheme for generating Message Authentication Code (MAC) is definitely a demand. This paper introduces a new fast and lightweight authentication scheme based on Cellular Automata (CA) utilizing a so called Identity-bits Commitment embedded in a temper resistance chip inside the wireless sensors. The security analysis shows that our scheme is secure against thwart replay attack and lightweight for fast implementation.

Set-Point Control for Folded Posture of 3-Link Underactuated Gymnastic Planar Robot: Beyond the Swing-up Control

Abstract This paper concerns a set-point control for a folded posture of a 3-link gymnastic planar robot moving in the vertical plane with the first joint being passive and the others being active. To realize the goal posture of the kip motion of a gymnast on the high bar, the control objective is to drive the robot from any arbitrary initial state to any arbitrarily small neighborhood of the up-down-down equilibrium point and then balance the robot about that point, where the first link is in the upright position and the second and third links are in the downward position. This paper uses the energy-based control approach and the notion of virtual composite link to design a controller and provides a global motion analysis of the robot. This paper shows that the control toward such a folded posture is different from the swing-up control problem, for which all three links are fully stretched out in the upright position at the goal posture. A new result of this paper is that in addition to some conditions on the control parameters, a constraint on the mechanical parameters of the robot is needed for achieving the set-point control of the folded posture. The simulation results for two 3-link robots are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control law and the necessity of the constraint.

Hardware designs and architectures for projective Montgomery ECC over GF (p) Benefiting from mapping elliptic curve computations to different degrees of parallelism

This paper proposes several hardware design schemas for Montgomery ECC over GF (p). Three known projective coordinates were used to apply ECC computations, in order to eliminate the long time inversion operation, which are Homogeneous, López-Dahab, and Jacobean coordinates. Unlike the usual serial design implementations, our proposed designs utilize the inherent parallelism in ECC computations by using parallel hardware design, in which the ECC computations are performed in parallel to improve the performance of ECC. In addition to the performance, other factors affecting the design of ECC such as area, resources-consuming, system utilization, AT2, and AT factors were studied and enhanced. This was achieved via proposing different design schemas for Montgomery ECC by varying the degree of parallelism for ECC computations. Our proposed designs provide attractive trade-off between mentioned factors, which helps in selecting the most efficient design choices for different security applications based on the requirements and availability of resources for particular application. The performance level of homogeneous coordinates when applied using 4-PM design was five multiplication cycles, which overcomes the other coordinates systems, as well as the known serial design. The 2-PM design for homogeneous projection, on the other hand, improves the system utilization considerably with less area and resources in comparison to the designs with higher degree of parallelism. © 2011 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.

Elliptic Curves Crypto-system (ECC) has been widely involved in many security applications. ECC computations suffer the long time inversion operation when applied using usual affine coordinates which affects the performance of ECC. Moreover, while the majority of previous researches focused on addressing the performance of ECC, other factors that play crucial role in building efficient ECC design for different security applications have not been intensively investigated, such as area, system utilization, resources-consuming, AT, and AT2 cost factors. Our research proposes several designs and architectures for Edwards ECC over GF (p) using projective coordinates (X/Z2 Y/Z2). All our proposed designs apply ECC computations with no inversion operation. To improve the performance even further, our research utilizes the inherent parallelism in elliptic curves computations by applying arithmetic operations for ECC in parallel. Our results show that the performance for the proposed 5-PM design overcomes designs using the known projective coordinates as well as the affine coordinates, since it achieves the shortest time delay. Furthermore, the other proposed designs provide an attractive trade-off between mentioned factors by varying the degree of parallelism for ECC computational schemes. Although this trade-off compromises the performance of ECC, the other factors were enhanced progressively. This helps to select the most suitable ECC design for several elliptic curves applications according to their requirements and available resources. The 2-PM design obtains the best system utilization results and AT cost with less area in comparison with designs using a higher degree of parallelism. Copyright © 2011 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. Data mining techniques are important to sift through the huge amount of gene expression values in microarrays resulting in valuable biological knowledge. An important example is classifying cancer samples, which is crucial to biologists for cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this paper we propose the DMCA technique in which the main objective is reducing the number of genes needed for accurate classification. The proposed technique is a combination of two feature selection techniques, f-score and entropy-based, and a powerful classifier, Support Vector Machines. DMCA achieved promising results and is characterized by being flexible in all of its stages. When applied to two public microarray datasets, DMCA succeeded in reducing the number of gene expression values needed to classify a sample by 71.29% and guaranteed reliable classification accuracy.

This paper describes some techniques based on polygon aggregation in reducing time for visibility graph in case of many obstacles. In path planning, the approaches are commonly used such as search-based, sampling-based or combinatorial planning. And visibility graph is one of the roadmaps of combinatorial planning. Building a visibility graph is a main phase in the whole process and theoretically it takes θ(nlogn). However, with some practical applications, for example one which has a large number of obstacles, this phase is very time-consuming. With the techniques proposed, the experiment result shows that the computing time gets a reduction factor of one-third approximately when the aggregation are used in preprocessing of building visibility graph.

Psychophysiological treatment in reduced anxiety with biofeedback training for university students

Researchers found some individuals with anxiety disorders, and most of the university's students suffer from some degree of anxiety level during the academic years. Anxiety was prevalent and persistent in student's population. More than half of students with significant symptoms of anxiety do not receive treatment even over two year periods. This research offers a psychophysiological treatment to reduce anxiety through biofeedback training for university students. A total 35 students were participated during 10 th sessions training. They are students who have high anxiety level. The psychophysiological arousal was measure used beat-per-minute and breath-per-minute. Repeating measurement of ANOVA was used to evaluate during the 1 st session, 4 th session, 7 th session, and 10 th session and further compare the differences. The result shows that there is a significant change over time in the beat-per-minute and breath-per-minute through the participants. From the training, it is shown that after 10 th session, students be able to control their heartbeat and respiration to reduce anxiety level. It is concluded that the psychophysiological treatment with biofeedback training is an effective method to reduce anxiety for university students.

Representation of social anxiety among engineering students

Social anxiety can be seen in students with special needs such low self-confidence, to feel shy, difficult relationship with roommate, problem with peers, and feeling uncomfortable in hostel. The effect of social life is an important issue among students. In this paper, the representation of social anxiety was presented with different manifestation than prior studies. That was investigated among engineering students. One sample t -test was used to examine the possible dimensions of social anxiety. The data collection was used a survey. A total 770 students participated to fill the questionnaire. The students were second years on five engineering faculties in Universiti Malaysia Pahang. The social anxiety designates into seven factors include; (1) problem with peer, (2) Hostel is uncomfortable for study, (3) face problem with roommates, (4) homesick, (5) feel that campus environment uncomfortable for study, (6) racial diversity, and (7) too many roommates are making study difficult. The finding shows a significant of seven factors as creator of social anxiety among engineering students. The instrument can be use to examine social anxiety for university students was recommended.

Power-line networks are designed to deliver electricity. They reach most of the domiciles and other buildings nowadays, so most of the people have access to it. On the other hand the backbone for the communications networks is not available in all countries especially the developing ones. A high cost and changing the design for the networks may be needed to construct this backbone. If data can be transmitted over the power-line networks, a recognized cost and time save can be achieved. In Egypt, the infrastructure is not always available for constructing a communications network backbone due to the already designed buildings before the need for these backbones. In this paper, we overcome this problem by designing a reliable Power-line Modem that operates safely on the low voltage grid. The modem is based on the Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum technique. It uses the mains zero crossing as an efficient way for the synchronization between the transmitter and the receiver. The Modem takes into account the problems of the Power-line including noise, attenuation and impedance dismatching.
