In this paper, a new approach in predicting the flank wear of Titanium Aluminum Nitrite (TiAlN) coatings using Adaptive Network Based Fuzzy Inference system (ANFIS) is implemented. TiAlN coated cutting tool is widely used in machining due to its excellent resistance to wear. The TiAlN coatings were formed using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) magnetron sputtering process. The substrate sputtering power, bias voltage and temperature were selected as the input parameters and the flank wear as an output of the process. A statistical design of experiment called Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used in collecting optimized data. The ANFIS model was trained using the limited experimental data. The triangular, trapezoidal, bell and Gaussian shapes of membership functions were used for inputs as well as output. The results of ANFIS model were validated with the testing data and compared with fuzzy rule-based and RSM flank wear models in terms of the root mean square error (RMSE), co-efficient determination (R2) and model accuracy (A). The result indicated that the ANFIS model using three bell shapes membership function obtained better result compared to the fuzzy and RSM flank wear models. The result also indicated that the ANFIS model could predict the output response in high prediction accuracy even using limited training data.

Reconfigurability in an antenna system is a desired characteristic that has been the focus of much interest in recent years. This paper describes the concept of reconfigurable antenna and how advances in switch technology have made these designs realizable. Complete design of the radiating patches, diode switches and biasing circuitry are also discussed. The structure of modified corporate-feed network is used to realize the array antenna consisting of 16 elements of rectangular patches at 2.3 GHz. The antenna patches through deployment of 4 PIN diodes switches at the feeding lines enabled the radiation pattern to be altered with respect to the beam shaping characteristics. While the planar arrays design making it more feasible for other antenna performances to be enhanced. The resistance for OFF and ON states of PIN diodes could strongly affect the performance of antenna. Hence, in order to improve the performance of the antenna, aperture coupled configuration is used to boost the antenna gain and directivity. The slot's geometry of aperture coupled antenna is stressed out as it determines the amount of coupling to the patches from feeding lines of the antenna. It is shown through simulations and measurements that 4 types of radiation pattern of the antenna can be well reconfigured by turning the diode switches on and off. The gain, directivity, beamwidth, efficiency and return loss are also changed. The proposed antenna, aperture coupled microstrip antenna array with quadratic slots, Q-ACMAA strengthen the level of coupling to the patches from feeding line with almost 50% of efficiency. Good agreement between the simulations and measurements were obtained. These results extend the validity of the analysis and will be useful for applications involving this type of reconfigurable antenna.

One of the difficult tasks in iris recognition is to detect the boundary between the iris region and the pupil region. This is due to the low texture contrast between them. In order to capture the degree of texture contrast between iris region and pupil region, we propose a novel algorithm that hybrid a difference function with a factor matrix. Experiments show that this algorithm can detect the boundary between iris region and pupil region accurately. Based on this algorithm, the percentage of successful segmentation is 99.34%.

Knowledge in unstructured documents lacks on the characteristics of structuring, therefore arise difficulty to impose queried in simple ways in it. This paper presents interrogative knowledge organization and structuring to be imposed in order to capitalize knowledge resides in unstructured documents. An experimental approach is done using an appropriate test collection of unstructured documents. The results produced are measured using quantitative retrieval performance of recall and precision metrics. This is to allow querying by using database standard Data Manipulation Language in addition to increase understanding by humans on the knowledge available in the unstructured document.
