Recent breakthroughs in computer vision have led to the invention of several intelligent systems in different sectors. In transportation, this advancement led to the possibility of proposing autonomous vehicles. This recent technology relies heavily on wireless sensors and Deep learning. For an autonomous vehicle to navigate safely on highways, the vehicle needs equipment to aid with detecting road anomalies such as potholes ahead of time. The massive improvement in computer vision models such as Deep Convolutional Neural networks (DCNN) or vision transformers (ViT) resulted in many success stories and tremendous breakthroughs in object detection tasks;this enabled the use of such models in different application areas. But many of the reported results are theoretical and unrealistic in real-life. Usually, the nature of these models is extensive;they are trained on High-performance computers or cloud computing environments with GPUs, which challenge their usage on edge devices. However, to come up with a light model that can fit into embedded devices, the model size has to be reduced significantly so that the performance will not be affected. Therefore, this paper proposes a lightweight model of pothole detection for an embedded device. The model achieved a state-of-the-art accuracy of 98%, with the number of parameters reduced to more than 70% compared with a deep CNN model;the model can be trained and deployed on embedded devices such as smartphones efficiently. © 2022 The authors and IOS Press. This research was aims to design a prototype and application for early detection of Happy Hypoxia symptoms in COVID-19 patients based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The experimental board consists of a microcontroller integrated with a pulse oximetry sensor, a heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor. To determine the feasibility of the tool, an accuracy test is carried out. Accuracy shows the value of the proximity of the measurement results to the reference value or standard value. Accuracy is obtained by calculating the error value. The accuracy of the sensors used in this study refers to standard medical equipment that has been calibrated. In this study, the accuracy value was obtained by referring to the mean of error rate of each sensor. The sensor reading value is sent from the microcontroller to firebase as a cloud database and then displayed on the application dashboard as a user interface. From this data, it is hoped that it can help COVID-19 sufferers to detect the symptoms of Happy Hypoxia and help medical experts for prognostic or therapeutic purposes. © 2021 IEEE.

Intensity inhomogeneity is a significant issue in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), where the presence of bias field causes distortions in pixel values, resulting in inconsistent and erroneous intensities across the image. This artifact not only hampers accurate diagnosis by radiologists but also negatively impacts the performance of computer-aided diagnosis algorithms, particularly in tasks like segmentation. In our proposed approach, we use a hybrid technique called KIFCM, which integrates K-means and Fuzzy C-means to enhance brain tumor segmentation. K-means provides computational efficiency, while Fuzzy C-means improves accuracy by detecting missed tumor cells. We employ a bias correction method based on the level set framework, removing noise with a median filter and applying the hybrid KIFCM technique for optimal segmentation. Our method effectively addresses intensity variation challenges, ensuring precise brain tumor region segmentation. We compare our results with DFCM and MFFLs, and the comparison shows the efficiency of our proposed method by highlighting the superior quality and accuracy of 81% achieved, requiring less computational time. Consequently, our results demonstrate KIFCM's potential to boost both accuracy and speed in MRI-based brain tumor detection through computer-aided diagnosis. © 2023 FRUCT Oy.

Colorectal polyps are structural abnormalities of the gastrointestinal tract that can potentially become cancerous in some cases. The study introduces a novel framework for colorectal polyp segmentation named the Multi-Scale and Multi-Path Cascaded Convolution Network (MMCC-Net), aimed at addressing the limitations of existing models, such as inadequate spatial dependence representation and the absence of multi-level feature integration during the decoding stage by integrating multi-scale and multi-path cascaded convolutional techniques and enhances feature aggregation through dual attention modules, skip connections, and a feature enhancer. MMCC-Net achieves superior performance in identifying polyp areas at the pixel level. The Proposed MMCC-Net was tested across six public datasets and compared against eight SOTA models to demonstrate its efficiency in polyp segmentation. The MMCC-Net's performance shows Dice scores with confidence interval ranging between 77.43 ± 0.12, (77.08, 77.56) and 94.45 ± 0.12, (94.19, 94.71) and Mean Intersection over Union (MIoU) scores with confidence interval ranging from 72.71 ± 0.19, (72.20, 73.00) to 90.16 ± 0.16, (89.69, 90.53) on the six databases. These results highlight the model's potential as a powerful tool for accurate and efficient polyp segmentation, contributing to early detection and prevention strategies in colorectal cancer. © 2024, CC BY.

The smart home concept is being developed using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The smart home concept offers security services such as monitoring dangerous gas leaks and fires, light control, and keyless door lock systems. Previous studies introduced the idea of a smart home system based on IoT depending on security needs and determining the number of sensors. Still, the description of specific devices used needs to be detailed. Thus, a proper design model for a smart home system was required. This paper proposes a prototype design for a smart home concept by integrating multiple sensors. The sensors used in this prototype are the MQ-2 sensor, DHT-11 sensor, flame sensor, LDR sensor, and RFID. The research results show that the multi-sensor integration was successful, and each sensor could function according to its function within a time range from 0.6 seconds to 2 minutes. The prototype can be implemented through mobile-based applications and given quickly and flexibly.

In the context of monitoring student engagement during learning sessions, the ability to accurately detect sleepiness can be a valuable asset. Early detection of sleepiness is critical to evaluate the need for intervention to ensure effective learning outcomes. Prolonged student sleepiness can negatively impact learning effectiveness and may result in academic challenges. This research used a semantic segmentation network to monitor and detect the level of sleepiness in students during learning sessions by modifying the U-Net architecture, which is enhanced with Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory (Conv-LSTM) blocks. Conv-LSTM blocks enable efficient feature sharing between network layers and improve accuracy in detecting sleepiness. In this study, experiments were carried out and the proposed method for monitoring students in the classroom was evaluated. The results of this research showed that the percentage of students who made movements detected in the video and extracted in image detection was 92% accurate and not sleepy.

This study simulates a n-i-p planar heterojunction for Na2SnBr6-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs), with Na2SnBr6 as the absorber layer, fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) as the substrate, and In2S3, IGZO, and SnS2 as electron transport layers (ETLs). Gold (Au) is used as the back contact. Na2SnBr6 was chosen for its low cost, non-toxicity, tunable band gap, excellent electrical properties, and stability. The SCAPS-1D simulator was employed to model the solar cell performance under AM 1.5 G light irradiation, focusing on factors like doping concentration, layer thickness, defect density, and interface defects across three device configurations: Device I (Au/Na2SnBr6/ In2S3/FTO/Al), Device II (Au/ Na2SnBr6/IGZO/FTO/Al), and Device III (Au/ Na2SnBr6/SnS2/FTO/Al). Device III achieved the highest PCE of 31.35%, FF of 85.95%, VOC of 0.7926 V, and JSC of 46.01 mA/cm22, making it a promising candidate for high-efficiency, lead-free perovskite solar cells. Devices I and II showed lower efficiencies of 27.47% and 30.98%, respectively. The study also analyzed quantum efficiency (QE), carrier dynamics, and recombination rates, highlighting the potential of Device III in advancing Na2SnBr6-based hybrid perovskite solar technologies for future solar energy applications. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.
