Erasure codes have been widely applied to in-memory key-value storage systems for high reliability and low redundancy. In distributed in-memory key-value storage systems, update operations are relatively frequent, especially the partial-stripe update, which makes data update more challenging. Recently, existing research has been based on appending logs to accelerate parity data write. However, its logs are stored on disks, which decreases the system performance significantly. Therefore, we propose a novel in-memory key-value storage architecture, DNVPL, which utilizes NVRAM to log parity data. Our main idea is to design an appending-only update scheme to tradeoff the memory cost and the update overhead. We implement DNVPL with an in-memory key-value storage prototype, called LogKV. We evaluate it with different workloads. The experiments show that our scheme achieves high update performance from different metrics. Our scheme can reduce update latency by up to 49% and save storage space by 48% compared to the state-of-the-art schemes.

Air pollution is one of the most common problems that the world is facing today. In fact, there are numerous causes of air pollution, including the large number of industries and automobiles that emit carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide. Pollution is increasing on a daily basis, making air quality monitoring and management a major challenge for governments in both developed and developing countries. Air pollution affects human health as well as the atmosphere, causing climate change. One of the techniques used for monitoring air pollution is the Internet of Things (IoT). In this paper, we demonstrate various techniques for monitoring air quality using IoT and make a comparison based on various factors elicited from the previous work.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is the network of embedded and resource-constrained nodes, that forms the foundation of the Internet of Things (IoT). These networks are designed to sense, aggregate and transport sensed data to locations that may be local or remote to the sensory field, for immediate or stored for later use. In most cases, WSN generates heterogeneous data that conveys information of varying priorities which may be real-time (RT) or non-real-time (NRT). However, the de facto routing protocol;Routing Protocol for Low-power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is not optimized for heterogeneous data routing. Likewise, routing schemes proposed in the literature have not proffered a lasting solution. In this paper, we proposed the Shortest Path Priority-based RPL (SPPB-RPL). The SPPB-RPL scheme not only routes data with varying priorities but also does so with optimal network performances. Its application in a smart campus is used as a case study. The scheme uses the mechanism of class of service (CS) to classify and prioritized data into various priority classes. Subsequently, the standard RPL DIO base object was improved upon to accommodate the prioritized data classes, and finally, the Dijkstra Algorithm (DA) was adopted to generate the optimal shortest routing path leading to the destination node which is guided by the priority of the data. Benchmarked with related schemes, SPPB-RPL performed optimally with a 99.98% packet delivery ratio with the least latency. This enhanced the network performance for a prolonged operational lifetime. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, a flexible wearable antenna based on uniform circular array of four identical microstrip patch antennas on a felt textile substrate was designed to generate multiple orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes. The proposed antenna was simulated and analyzed to confirm the generation of OAM mode +1 and −1. The concept of reconfigurable method with 16 p-i-n diodes was implemented for the switching purpose. The proposed antenna covered overall bandwidth above 700 MHz for both the modes in free space while the obtained gain by mode 1 was 1.981 dBi and mode −1 was 1.993 dBi. Moreover, the mode purity analysis was carried out to verify the generation of OAM mode +1 and −1 with acceptable SAR value. The purity obtained was 47.78% for mode +1 and 47.91% for mode −1 at free space. This study shows that using textile antennas for modal multiplexing to produce multimode OAM waves is feasible in order to increase channel capacity and spectrum efficiency.

To accommodate the rapid adoption of the commu-nity to new types of transportation, namely electric vehicles whose demand is increasing rapidly, the need for reliable charging materials has increased. In addition, alternative energy sources such as wind and solar energy become needed to help sustain the supply of local electricity grids that are under pressure and need support abundant and cheap alternative energy systems, excellent and affordable alternative energy systems are supposed to help provide energy. Hi, current electricity needs. Therefore, this new refueling station has emerged globally for being praised for being innovative based on renewable energy. Looking at the development of studies related to this type of alternative refueling, We wrote our observations on studies related to alternative refueling in this paper. Resources, potential, planning, control, and pricing are areas of comprehensive research that we present in this paper. Methods such as the appropriate load arrangement of the interval system on storage and control methods on design management and others will be discussed in the article. They will focus on controlling resources that will address the problems that previous research has had. And learning and clarifying the challenges faced and providing suggestions for solutions that meet the challenges regarding this study are also part of the observations we made in this paper. Providing an understanding and overview of this study is our goal in creating this paper so that readers can better understand this study more deeply and build the foundation for further research on this field. Providing solutions to be able to create charging resources that can utilize renewable resources more efficiently and develop use in the community is the goal of this research. © 2022 IEEE.

Accurate traffic flow forecasting is crucial for managing and planning urban transportation systems. Despite the widespread use of sequence modelling models like Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) for this purpose, the potential of Transformer models remains underexplored. This is particularly true for the simplest form of a single block encoder-decoder Transformer model, which can be finely tuned through optimised hyperparameters. This paper examines the performance of a singular horizon-step forecasting method for multi-step traffic flow forecasting using a proposed Single Block Encoder-Decoder Transformer model optimised with a Grid Search algorithm. Results demonstrate that this model can enhance forecasting accuracy compared to the state-of-the-art LSTM model typically used for multi-step forecasting. The model effectively captures long-range temporal dependencies within a single road traffic flow dataset. It was tested on hourly traffic flow data to forecast the next 24 hours for the I5-North freeway in California, sourced from the Caltrans Performance Measurement system. The optimal configuration included an embedding dimension of 32, a feed-forward dimension of 128, and 8 attention heads. Results show a significant improvement, with a 4.7% reduction in Root Mean Squared Error compared to an LSTM model with two hidden layers of 100 neurons each, showcasing the potential of Single Block Encoder-Decoder Transformer models for real-world traffic prediction applications.

This paper considers parallel machine scheduling with incompatibilities between jobs. The jobs form a graph equivalent to a collection of disjoint cliques. No two jobs in a clique are allowed to be assigned to the same machine. Scheduling with incompatibilities between jobs represents a well-established line of research in scheduling theory and the case of disjoint cliques has received increasing attention in recent years. While the research up to this point has been focused on the makespan objective, we broaden the scope and study the classical total completion time criterion. In the setting without incompatibilities, this objective is well-known to admit polynomial time algorithms even for unrelated machines via matching techniques. We show that the introduction of incompatibility cliques results in a richer, more interesting picture. We prove that scheduling on identical machines remains solvable in polynomial time, while scheduling on unrelated machines becomes APX-hard. Next, we study the problem under the paradigm of fixed-parameter tractable algorithms (FPT). In particular, we consider a problem variant with assignment restrictions for the cliques rather than the jobs. We prove that, despite still being APX-hard, it can be solved in FPT time with respect to the number of cliques. Moreover, we show that the problem on unrelated machines can be solved in FPT time for reasonable parameters, in particular, the parameter combination: maximum processing time, number of job kinds, and number of machines or maximum processing time, number of job kinds, and number of cliques. The latter results are extensions of known results for the case without incompatibilities, and can even be further extended to the case of total weighted completion time. All of the FPT results make use of n-fold Integer Programs that recently received great attention by proving their usefulness for scheduling problems. Software or application testing is a process of executing a program with the goal of finding defect to make better system. In software testing phase, writing test cases is one of the important activities. Manually writing test cases approach is lengthy of time period and need more effort to accomplish the process. This paper describes test case, test case generation techniques, different types of software testing approaches and comparison of testing tool. Test cases usually writing at the beginning of testing process from the set of software requirements. Test cases are created by using two different approaches. One is manually written test cases and another is automatically generated test cases. Manually written test cases are a very lengthy process and need to give a lot of effort to make good quality test cases.
