Large-Scale Kinetic Parameter Identification of Metabolic Network Model of <i>E. coli</i>Using PSO

In metabolic network modelling, the accuracy of kinetic parameters has become more important over the last two decades. Even a small perturbation in kinetic parameters may cause major changes in a model’s response. The focus of this study is to identify the kinetic parameters, using two distinct approaches: firstly, a One-at-a-Time Sensitivity Measure, performed on 185 kinetic parameters, which represent glycolysis, pentose phosphate, TCA cycle, gluconeogenesis, glycoxylate pathways, and acetate formation. Time profiles for sensitivity indices were calculated for each parameter. Seven kinetic parameters were found to be highly affected in the model response;secondly, particle swarm optimization was applied for kinetic parameter identification of a metabolic network model. The simulation results proved the effectiveness of the proposed method.

With the incessant advancement of smart internet devices and their ubiquitous usage, users prospect the same performance as if they used to run application on resources rich desktop devices. Smart internet devices are poor in resources such as storage, capacity, processing performance and battery life. Such mobile devices deliver lower performance as they are constrained by weight, size and mobility despite all the developments. These limitations can be ameliorated by utilizing the technique known as computation offloading. Computation offloading is the process of transferring compute-intensive data to resources rich servers called surrogates to run the entire or parts of application on behalf of mobile devices. In this paper, we present a survey on steps, criterion, types, flow and necessity of computation offloading with the reviewed computation offloading schemes. The Paper also proposes suggestions and opinions for future work in related field.

software piracy worldwide has resulted in serious industrial, academic and economic consequences. However, the problem can be solved if the root causes can be identified. Personality traits are said to be an effective positive influence on unethical behaviour. For this reason, personality traits could be a predictor for software piracy. This study investigates personality traits as a factor in students intention to pirate software by enhancing the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) model. The objective of this current research is to provide a preliminary test on the personality traits with the TPB model in software piracy behaviour in order to determine the reliability and validating *** personality traits used in this study were extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness according to Big Five Inventory (BFI). A survey was conducted to achieve the research objective. Questionnaire was carried out on 40 computer sciences students to determine how reliable and valid it would be to proceed with further research. This study has been compared with previous studies, and several minor modifications of the instrument were made. All the instruments were validated and applied in the actual study. The results of factor analyses confirm and refine the reliability of the instruments for both big five personality variables and TPB elements in software piracy. The findings could also be helpful to information systems practitioners and academics in the implementation of measures to reduce the incidence of software piracy among students. © 2015 IEEE.

The increase in world population has led to a significant increase in food demand throughout the world, so agricultural policy makers in all countries try to estimate their annual food requirements in advance in order to provide food security for their people. In order to achieve this goal, this study developed a novel predictive model based on the energy inputs employed during the production season. Rice caters more than 30 % of the calorie requirement for the Asian countries. In Iran too rice is one of the most important agricultural products. Therefore, objective of this study was to develop a model based on artificial intelligence for predicting the output energy in rice production. Such a model could help farmers and policy makers. This model employed the polynomial and radial basis function (RBF) as the kernel function for support vector regression (SVR). The input energies from different sources used during rice production were given as the inputs to the model, and the output energy was chosen as the output of the model. In order to achieve generalized performance, SVRpoly and SVRrbf tried to minimize the generalization error bound, instead of minimizing the training error. The results show that the proposed model improves the predictive accuracy and capability of generalization. Results show that SVRs can serve as a promising alternative for existing prediction models.

This paper proposes the application of the recent meta-heuristic method namely Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO) in solving Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch (ORPD) problem. The objective is to minimize the transmission losses by finding the best combination of control variables including generator voltages, transformer tap ratios and reactive compensation devices. In order to show the effectiveness of ALO in solving ORPD, IEEE 30-bus system is utilized. The comparison with other methods also reported in this paper.

Informal and semi-formal specifications are commonly adopted for requirements engineering (RE), especially for customer-oriented system development projects, but their validity with respect to the user's requirements is usually difficult to perform. The common reason for the difficulty is that the specifications are often misinterpreted by the stakeholders due to the ambiguity of the natural language or graphical notation used in writing the specifications. This paper describes a tool to assist the animation of informal and semi-formal specifications intuitively and comprehensively for their validation. The underlying animation principle is called SOFL Requirements Specification Animation Framework (SOFL-RSAF). The framework integrates specification animation into the SOFL method for constructing specifications and is supported by a prototype add-in tool.

This paper presents a hybrid forecasting model namely Grey Wolf Optimizer-Least Squares Support Vector Machines (GWO-LSSVM). In this study, a great deal of attention was paid in determining LSSVM's hyper parameters. For that matter, the GWO is utilized an optimization tool for optimizing the said hyper parameters. Realized in gold price forecasting, the feasibility of GWO-LSSVM is measured based on Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Root Mean Square Percentage Error (RMSPE). Upon completing the simulation tasks, the comparison against two hybrid methods suggested that the GWO-LSSVM capable to produce lower forecasting error as compared to the identified forecasting techniques.

In this study, a comparative study of the African Buffalo Optimization algorithm and the Randomized Insertion Algorithm to solving the asymmetric Travelling Salesman's Problem is made with the aim of ascertaining a better method to solving the asymmetric Travelling Salesman's Problem instances. The choice of the Random Insertion Algorithm as a comparative algorithm was informed by the fact that it has the best results in literature. The Randomized Insertion and African Buffalo Optimization algorithms employ two different methods in attempting solutions to ATSP: the African Buffalo Optimization employs the modified Karp-Steele approach while the Randomized Insertion uses random insertion approach. After attempting 15 benchmark ATSP cases out of the 19 datasets available in TSPLIB, it was discovered that the African Buffalo Optimization achieves slightly better result to the problems and at a much faster speed.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image with its advantages, becoming popular than the optical image. However, the speckle in causes difficulties in the interpretation and analysis during image processing. Thus, before the SAR images are used, speckle noise reduction is necessary. The ideal speckle filter has the main goal of reducing speckle noise without losing the information, content, and preserve the edges and features. Various noise filters have been designed for different purposes and different capacities. In this study, we discuss four filters, namely Lee, Frost, Median and Mean filter. We are analyzing quality parameter and comparing statistic performance of Lee, Frost, Mean and Median filters for SAR sample data. The results show MSE, PSNR, SNR, and AD value that generate by Frost filter performs better than the other filter. And from visual interpretation of the de-speckle image that filtered with Frost filter, show sharpen edge and preserved texture.

The availability of accurate solar radiation data is essential for designing as well as simulating the solar energy systems. In this study, by employing the long-term daily measured solar data, a neural network auto-regressive model with exogenous inputs (NN-ARX) is applied to predict daily horizontal global solar radiation using day of the year as the sole input. The prime aim is to provide a convenient and precise way for rapid daily global solar radiation prediction, for the stations and their immediate surroundings with such an observation, without utilizing any meteorological-based inputs. To fulfill this, seven Iranian cities with different geographical locations and solar radiation characteristics are considered as case studies. The performance of NN-ARX is compared against the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The achieved results prove that day of the year-based prediction of daily global solar radiation by both NN-ARX and ANFIS models would be highly feasible owing to the accurate predictions attained. Nevertheless, the statistical analysis indicates the superiority of NN-ARX over ANFIS. In fact, the NN-ARX model represents high potential to follow the measured data favorably for all cities. For the considered cities, the attained statistical indicators of mean absolute bias error, root mean square error, and coefficient of determination for the NN-ARX models are in the ranges of 0.44–0.61 kWh/m2, 0.50–0.71 kWh/m2, and 0.78–0.91, respectively.
