This paper compares three techniques for Arabic text classification;these techniques are Support Vector Machine (SVM) with Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO), Naïve Bayesian (NB), and J48. The main objective of this paper is to measure the accuracy for each classifier and to determine which classifier is more accurate for Arabic text classification based on stop words elimination. The accuracy for classifier is measured by Percentage split method (holdout), and K-fold cross validation methods,. The results show that the SMO classifier achieves the highest accuracy and the lowest error rate, and shows that the time needed to build the SMO model is the smallest time. © 2010 ACM.

Lack of hearing ability hinders deaf children from mastering grammar in language studies. Unfortunately, such software targeting Malay language is limited. This paper attempts to generate new approach in handling such software. These include detection of defects when switching into local languages, date format and accommodating the local laws. The acceptance of international software for local use goes beyond just these aspects. For this purpose, software that supports the multi-languages is evaluated. The main research question of this paper: The lack of cultural dimensions in localisation testing of assistive technology decreases the effectiveness of localisation testing of the localised software. On the account of cultural dimensions, Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions will be experimented to study which cultural dimensions are most suited for such software. From our empirical results, the failure rate of the testing is higher compared to incorporating culture dimensions. © 2011 IEEE.

A model is proposed for selecting the optimal result of contractor selection under multi criteria environment. Fuzzy comparing judgment is used to tackling the vagueness and uncertainty in choosing significant preferences by decision maker regarding to the subjective opinion. Finally, the model was tested in tender evaluation processes for awarding the most beneficial contractor to perform the construction project. © 2011 IEEE.

One of the significant facts in higher learning institution is the explosive growth educational *** data are increasing rapidly without any benefit to the *** main objective of any higher educational institution is to improve the quality of managerial decisions and to impart quality *** prediction of student's success in higher learning institution is one way to reach the highest level of quality in higher education *** are many prediction model available with difference approach in student performance was reported by researcher,but there is no certainty if there are any predictors that accurately determine whether a student will be an academic genius,a drop out,or an average *** aims of this study was to apply the kernel method as data mining techniques to analyze the relationships between students's behavioral and their success and to develop the model of student performance *** is done by using Smooth Support Vector Machine (SSVM) classification and kernel k-means clustering *** results of this study reported a model of student academic performance predictors by employing psychometric factors as variables predictors.

Feature selection has become very important research in musical instruments sounds for handling the problem of 'curse of dimensionality'. In literature, various feature selection techniques have been applied in this domain focusing on Western musical instruments sounds. However, study on feature selection using rough sets of non-Western musical instruments sounds including Malay Traditional musical instruments is inadequate and still needs an intensive research. Thus, in this paper, an alternative feature selection technique using rough set theory based on Maximum Degree of dependency of Attributes (MDA) technique proposed by [8] for Traditional Malay musical instruments sounds is proposed. The modeling process comprises eight phases: data acquisition, sound editing, data representation, feature extraction, data discretization, data cleansing, feature selection using proposed technique and feature validation via classification. The results show that the highest classification accuracy of 99.82% was achieved from the best 17 features with 1-NN classifier. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The paper presents a method for monitoring heartbeats based on time-frequency analysis of optic interferometric signal by using smoothed pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution. Optical interferometer is a sensitive device that detects physical changes of the length of optical fibre. When put in mattress, heartbeats of a subject lying on the fibre causes its perturbation. This allows entirely unobtrusive and continuous monitoring of subject's heart rate by processing interferometric signal. Reference ECG signals were acquired in order to verify recognition rate and accuracy of proposed method. An experiment with 6 subjects was performed. Interferometric and referential signals were acquired simultaneously for about 60 s. The obtained results show high recognition rate (about 97% with persons breathing and 98% with persons holding their breath).

In line with the technological developments, the current data tends to be multidimensional and high dimensional, which is more complex than conventional data and need dimension reduction. Dimension reduction is important in cluster analysis and creates a new representation for the data that is smaller in volume and has the same analytical results as the original representation. To obtain an efficient processing time while clustering and mitigate curse of dimensionality, a clustering process needs data reduction. This paper proposes an alternative model for extracting multidimensional data clustering based on comparative dimension reduction. We implemented five dimension reduction techniques such as ISOMAP (Isometric Feature Mapping), KernelPCA, LLE (Local Linear Embedded), Maximum Variance Unfolded (MVU), and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results show that dimension reductions significantly shorten processing time and increased performance of cluster. DBSCAN within Kernel PCA and Super Vector within Kernel PCA have highest cluster performance compared with cluster without dimension reduction. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Distributed database system has a collection of sites that will increase the data availability, reliability of data and the execution speed in less time. However, the management on transaction is important in managing deadlock problems. In this paper presents a new algorithm to manage transaction on neigbour replication in distributed database system. The Neighbour Replication on Grid (NRG) Deadlock Detection (NRGDD) is the algorithm developed based on the Multi-Cycle Deadlock Detection and Recovery (MC2DR) approach. This algorithm will detect and resolve the deadlock problem that occurs during the transaction. Each node of the different set of transactions will communicate by passing the probe message to each other. To resolve deadlock problem only one node that will be detect as a victim that cause of deadlock occur and this node will be abort and release that site to another transaction to obtain the lock. Finally, this algorithm successfully implemented on NRG model that can detect and resolve the deadlock problems.

This paper presents an investigation on how different walking surfaces affect gait identification based on accelerometer data. Accelerometer data of 5 subjects walking on 4 different solid surfaces was acquired on 3 different days by a cell phone placed on the subject's hip. Data analysis detects gait cycles by a method based on wavelet transform. For all gait cycles, features were calculated by using higher-order statistics. Similarity estimation for discerning the different subjects and surfaces was introduced by using principal component analysis (PCA). It proved that the different solid surfaces do not influence the efficiency of the identification of subjects based on their gait.

The availability of high quality and inexpensive video camera, as well as the increasing need for automated video analysis is leading towards a great deal of interest in numerous applications. However the video tracking systems is still having many open problems. Thus, some of research activities in a video tracking system are still being explored. Generally, most of the researchers are used a static camera in order to track an object motion. However, the use of a static camera system for detecting and tracking the motion of an object is only capable for capturing a limited view. Therefore, to overcome the above mentioned problem in a large view space, researcher may use several cameras to capture images. Thus, the cost will increases with the number of cameras. To overcome the cost increment a mobile camera is employed with the ability to track the wide field of view in an environment. Conversely, mobile camera technologies for tracking applications have faced several problems; simultaneous motion (when an object and camera are concurrently movable), distinguishing objects in occlusion, and dynamic changes in the background during data capture. In this study we propose a new method of Global best Local Neighborhood Oriented Particle Swarm Optimization (GbLN-PSO) to address these problems. The advantages of tracking using GbLN-PSO are demonstrated in experiments for intelligent human and vehicle tracking systems in comparison to a conventional method. The comparative study of the method is provided to evaluate its capabilities at the end of this paper.
