This paper presents a new design to manage transaction and replication for distributed systems. First, we recall the binary vote assignment grid (BVAG) model that imposes neighbours binary vote assignment to its logical grid structure on replicated data copies. Based on this model, we extend our work to design the distributed transaction semantic in order to manage BVAG transaction both in normal and failure cases. We present an implementation of the system. The proposed distributed transaction semantic shows that the system preserves the data consistency and support advance fault-tolerant through synchronization approach.

In this paper, we propose the basic framework of point- wise topological logic on completely distributive lattices and explore approximate reasoning in it. The logic of this paper is based on pointwise characterization, therefore the pointwise conception is pervasive. We explore approximate reasoning in abstract logical framework Fl on completely distributive lattice L. We propose the structure of point- wise topological logic F TL , the structure of matching function sigma. and the structure of matching neighborhood group. We investigate approximate reasoning in pointwise topological logic F TL with matching function sigma, develop pointwise topological algorithm of simple approximate reasoning, introduce the essential characteristics of this scheme.

We propose a novel approach of knowledge visualization method by adopting graph-based visualization technique and incorporating Dashboard concept for higher education institutions. Two aspects are emphasized, knowledge visualization and human-machine interaction. The knowledge visualization helps users to analyze the comprehensive characteristics of the students, lecturers and subjects after the clustering process and the interaction enable domain knowledge transfer and the use of the human's perceptual capabilities, thus increases the intelligence of the system. The knowledge visualization is enhanced through the dashboard concept where it provides significant patterns of knowledge on real-world and theoretical modeling which could be called wisdom. The framework consists of the system architecture and design for higher education environment is presented in this paper.

Requirements traceability is becoming increasingly significant element in software engineering. It provides critical function in the development and maintenance of a software system. From the software evolution point of view, requirements traceability plays an important role in facilitating software evolution. Since the evolution is inevitable, a traceability approach must take as much as possible the important influencing aspects into account to the evolution processes in order to minimize the evolution efforts. This paper evaluates several recent traceability approaches published in literature with the focus on their contributions to software evolution. The evaluation results may be used as a basis for improving requirements traceability approaches that may simplify the software evolution tasks. © 2007 IEEE.

This article gives a capsule view of research on rough set theory and applications ongoing at universities and laboratories in China. Included in this capsule view of rough set research is a brief description of the following things: Chinese research groups on rough set with their URLs for web pages, names of principal researchers (supervisors), numbers of graduate students, and topics being investigated. Statistical summaries showing the growth in the research on rough set theory and application in China are included. In addition, an introduction summarizing the research interests of Chinese researchers is included in this article. In order to fulfill user's requirement, it is very important to manage user effectively. Many studies have shown that most of the software project fails due to the inconsistent needs of software users with the view of software developers. Understanding user needs is not a sequential process. It involves different disciplines such as psychology, languages and communications, organizational behavior and management. This study has explored a practical approach of managing users by establishing ownership-based user groups. Each group will have its own characteristic and responsibility which will be established through policy, education and awareness program. The commitment and cooperation of each user group will be managed through identifying and managing them through cooperation based user group. The case study has been carried out in University College of engineering & Technology Malaysia. The study has derived 4 categories of users based on ownership with its own characteristic and responsibility. As for the cooperation based user groups, it has been categorized into 4 groups. The study found that managing users through ownership-based and cooperation based user group has improved the involvement and commitment level of users during the whole software process especially during requirement engineering process.

This paper presents a new hierarchical method of the edge relaxation by using an edge confidence measure. Proposed method is an adaptive and based on directional hierarchical image decomposition and an edge connecting algorithm. It is shown that such combination has low sensitivity to noise, while it is highly robust to outliers, and provide a quality edge connection mechanism

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a novel image enhancement technique by using directional wavelet transform. Directional wavelet transform decomposes an image into four-dimensional space which augments the image by the scale and directional information. We show the directional information significantly improves image enhancement in noisy images in comparison with the classical techniques. Image enhancement is based on the multiscale singularity detection with an adaptive threshold whose value is calculated via maximum entropy measure. The proposed technique was tested on synthetic images at different signal-to-noise ratios and clinical images

The purpose of this paper is to introduce an novel edge detector using directional wavelet transform and signal registration. Directional wavelet transform decomposes an image into four-dimensional space which augments the image by the scale and directional information. We show the directional information significantly improves edge detection in noisy images in comparison with the classical multiscale edge detector, and enables more reliable edge tracing along an object boundary. Edge detection is based on the modulus maximum principle with an adaptive threshold whose value is calculated via maximum entropy measure. Edge tracing is done with signal alignment between neighbour edges
