The tourism sector is adopting smart solutions to offer visitors more personalised and sustainable experiences. By leveraging urban infrastructure and new technologies, tourist destinations aim to enhance the interaction between travellers and their environment. Artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) play a key role in this transformation, particularly through chatbots. They are AI-driven applications designed to simulate human-like conversations, enabling users to interact with digital services through text or voice interfaces. In the tourism sector, they facilitate real-time access to information and services, improving the visitors' experience. These applications typically rely on intent recognition APIs, which may be proprietary, requiring access fees and potentially leading to high implementation costs. This study explores the use of a domain-specific language (DSL) dedicated to chatbot development for smart tourism. The first contribution comprises various research topics and emerging technologies used to improve smart tourism experiences and their impact on key tourism components such as attractions, accessibility, amenities, activities, available packages, and ancillary services. Second, this work aims to present the key concepts of model-driven engineering involved in constructing a DSL and to introduce our approach to building a DSL, with a focus on presenting the DSL metamodel. Third, this study identifies the challenges and limitations of using DSLs in chatbot development. © 2025 The Author(s). Expert systems published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Diff-Reg v2: Diffusion-Based Matching Matrix Estimation for Image Matching and 3D Registration

Establishing reliable correspondences is crucial for all registration tasks, including 2D image registration, 3D point cloud registration, and 2D-3D image-to-point cloud registration. However, these tasks are often complicated by challenges such as scale inconsistencies, symmetry, and large deformations, which can lead to ambiguous matches. Previous feature-based and correspondence-based methods typically rely on geometric or semantic features to generate or polish initial potential correspondences. Some methods typically leverage specific geometric priors, such as topological preservation, to devise diverse and innovative strategies tailored to a given enhancement goal, which cannot be exhaustively enumerated. Additionally, many previous approaches rely on a single-step prediction head, which can struggle with local minima in complex matching scenarios. To address these challenges, we introduce an innovative paradigm that leverages a diffusion model in matrix space for robust matching matrix estimation. Our model treats correspondence estimation as a denoising diffusion process in the matching matrix space, gradually refining the intermediate matching matrix to the optimal one. Specifically, we apply the diffusion model in the doubly stochastic matrix space for 3D-3D and 2D-3D registration tasks. In the 2D image registration task, we deploy the diffusion model in a matrix sub-space, where dual-softmax projection regularization is applied. For all three registration tasks, we provide adaptive matching matrix embedding implementations tailored to the specific characteristics of each task while maintaining a consistent"match-to-warp" encoding pattern. Furthermore, we adopt a lightweight design for the denoising module. In inference, once points or image features are extracted and fixed, this module performs multi-step denoising predictions through reverse sampling. Empirical Comparison between Cross-Validation and Mutation-Validation in Model Selection

Mutation validation (MV) is a recently proposed approach for model selection, garnering significant interest due to its unique characteristics and potential benefits compared to the widely used cross-validation (CV) method. In this study, we empirically compared MV and k-fold CV using benchmark and real-world datasets. By employing Bayesian tests, we compared generalization estimates yielding three posterior probabilities: practical equivalence, CV superiority, and MV superiority. We also evaluated the differences in the capacity of the selected models and computational efficiency. We found that both MV and CV select models with practically equivalent generalization performance across various machine learning algorithms and the majority of benchmark datasets. MV exhibited advantages in terms of selecting simpler models and lower computational costs. However, in some cases MV selected overly simplistic models leading to underfitting and showed instability in hyperparameter selection. These limitations of MV became more evident in the evaluation of a real-world neuroscientific task of predicting sex at birth using brain functional connectivity. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Currently, thirty five percent of high voltage transmission lines in Thailand are aged and degraded. These transmission lines need some renovation work with major components;i.e. conductor, insulator, steel structure, foundation, grounding system and right of way according to the remaining performance and importance to the system. With known condition and importance, the renovation task can be properly setup. Therefore, this work focuses on a risk assessment by using d-distance risk factor based condition index and importance index of transmission line. In the condition index calculation, the conditions of transmission line and its components are calculated by taking several testing and visual inspection techniques into consideration. In the importance index calculation, various criteria i.e. line load, voltage rating, contingency, etc. are also considered. The weighting and scoring technique and analytical hierarchy process are applied in the analysis. Finally, the risk is determined. The renovation tasks could be prioritized. The renovation cost is also analysis according to the risk in order to preform effective maintenance and cost management for the transmission line facilities. © 2021 IEEE.

Merging synthetic and real embryo data for advanced AI predictions

Accurate embryo morphology assessment is essential in assisted reproductive technology for selecting the most viable embryo. Artificial intelligence has the potential to enhance this process. However, the limited availability of embryo data presents challenges for training deep learning models. To address this, we trained two generative models using two datasets—one we created and made publicly available, and one existing public dataset—to generate synthetic embryo images at various cell stages, including 2-cell, 4-cell, 8-cell, morula, and blastocyst. These were combined with real images to train classification models for embryo cell stage prediction. Our results demonstrate that incorporating synthetic images alongside real data improved classification performance, with the model achieving 97% accuracy compared to 94.5% when trained solely on real data. This trend remained consistent when tested on an external Blastocyst dataset from a different clinic. Notably, even when trained exclusively on synthetic data and tested on real data, the model achieved a high accuracy of 92%. Furthermore, combining synthetic data from both generative models yielded better classification results than using data from a single generative model. Four embryologists evaluated the fidelity of the synthetic images through a Turing test, during which they annotated inaccuracies and offered feedback. The analysis showed the diffusion model outperformed the generative adversarial network, deceiving embryologists 66.6% versus 25.3% and achieving lower Fréchet inception distance scores. © 2024, CC BY-SA.

This one-day hybrid workshop builds on previous feminist CSCW workshops to explore feminist theoretical and methodological approaches that have provided us with useful tools to see things differently and make space for change. Since its inception over a decade ago, feminist HCI has progressed from the margins to mainstream HCI, with numerous references in the literature. Feminist HCI has also evolved to incorporate other critical HCI practices such as Queer HCI, participatory design, and speculative design. While feminist approaches have grown in popularity and become mainstream, it is getting more difficult to distinguish the feminist emancipatory core from other attempts of developing and improving society in various ways. In this workshop, we therefore want to revisit our feminist roots, where theory is a liberatory and creative practice, motivated by affect, curiosity, and wonder. From this standpoint, we consider which of our feminist tools can make a significant difference today, in a highly datafied world. The goal of this workshop is to;1) create an inventory of feminist theories and concepts that have had an impact on our work as designers, educators, researchers, and activists;2) develop a feminist toolbox for the CSCW community to strengthen our feminist literacy. © 2023 Owner/Author.

Context: Quantum software systems represent a new realm in software engineering, utilizing quantum bits (Qubits) and quantum gates (Qgates) to solve the complex problems more efficiently than classical counterparts. Agile software development approaches are considered to address many inherent challenges in quantum software development, but their effective integration remains unexplored. Objective: This study investigates key causes of challenges that could hinders the adoption of traditional agile approaches in quantum software projects and develop an Agile-Quantum software Project Success Prediction Model (AQSSPM). Methodology: Firstly, we identified 19 causes of challenging factors discussed in our previous study, which are potentially impacting agile-quantum project success. Secondly, a survey was conducted to collect expert opinions on these causes and applied Genetic Algorithm (GA) with Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) and Logistic Regression (LR) to develop the AQSSPM. Results: Utilizing GA with NBC, project success probability improved from 53.17% to 99.68%, with cost reductions from 0.463% to 0.403%. Similarly, GA with LR increased success rates from 55.52% to 98.99%, and costs decreased from 0.496% to 0.409% after 100 iterations. Both methods result showed a strong positive correlation (rs=0.955) in causes ranking, with no significant difference between them (t=1.195, p=0.240>0.05). Conclusion: The AQSSPM highlights critical focus areas for efficiently and successfully implementing agile-quantum projects considering the cost factor of a particular project. © 2024, CC BY.

Formal analysis to ensure adherence of software to defined architectural constraints is not yet broadly used within software development, due to the effort involved in defining formal architecture models. Within this paper, we outline neural architecture inference to solve the problem of having a formal architecture definition for subsequent symbolic reasoning over these architectures, enabling neurosymbolic architectural reasoning. 5G communication systems provide an end-to-end wireless connection to billions of users and devices across the globe. The quality of signals received during radio communication is notably influenced by the behavior of the radio propagation channel. A major parameter used in characterizing this channel is the Path Loss Exponent (PLE). Several works that have estimated and analyzed the PLE mostly considered the effect of distance and carrier frequency. However, the effect of base station antenna height and channel bandwidth on the PLE for 5G networks have not been adequately considered. To address this, the impact of antenna height of base station and channel bandwidth on the PLE within the 5G Frequency Range 1 (FR1) frequencies was investigated in this study, specifically at 800, 3500, and 5900 MHz. The licensed EDX Signal Pro software® with Cirrus high resolution global terrain and clutter data base was utilized to model, simulate and analyze the PLE for Kano City, Nigeria. Results showed that for the tested frequencies, an increase in either base station height or channel bandwidth leads to a significant reduction in the PLE. This study can be utilized by network planning engineers and the wireless research community to further improve network implementation and optimization toward understanding the behavior of signal propagation in 5G networks and beyond. © 2023 IEEE.
