The following algorithms for constructing predictive models of key quality indicators of polymer film materials are considered and implemented: adaptive boosting of decision trees (AdaBoost), recurrent neural network of long short-term memory (LSTM). The characteristics of production data and the stages of their preparation for the construction of predictive models are presented. The comparison of trained predictive models for the defect by the number of black dots per m2 of the film web is carried out by various algorithms according to the main metrics: precision, recall, f1-score, to identify the best depending on the production data. © 2023 IEEE.

The availability of high quality and inexpensive video camera, as well as the increasing need for automated video analysis is leading towards a great deal of interest in numerous applications. However the video tracking systems is still having many open problems. Thus, some of research activities in a video tracking system are still being explored. Generally, most of the researchers are used a static camera in order to track an object motion. However, the use of a static camera system for detecting and tracking the motion of an object is only capable for capturing a limited view. Therefore, to overcome the above mentioned problem in a large view space, researcher may use several cameras to capture images. Thus, the cost will increases with the number of cameras. To overcome the cost increment a mobile camera is employed with the ability to track the wide field of view in an environment. Conversely, mobile camera technologies for tracking applications have faced several problems;simultaneous motion (when an object and camera are concurrently movable), distinguishing objects in occlusion, and dynamic changes in the background during data capture. In this study we propose a new method of Global best Local Neighborhood Oriented Particle Swarm Optimization (GbLN-PSO) to address these problems. The advantages of tracking using GbLN-PSO are demonstrated in experiments for intelligent human and vehicle tracking systems in comparison to a conventional method. The comparative study of the method is provided to evaluate its capabilities at the end of this paper. © 2011 IEEE.

The issues of modelling software agents in collaborative systems present some problems and difficulties caused by the diversity of tasks and the procedures attached to them. Consequently, such diversity poses a critical challenge to implement scheduled tasks. In this paper, we propose collaborative human-agent system in which a software agent collaborates and cooperates with its human counterpart in several job positions of an organization. The goal of the GNA approach is to improve collaboration between humans when performing tasks within a workflow process. The GNA is built based on the concept of a node which comprises of a human, agents, and their shared functions. This concept espouses the notion that agents could be deployed to assist humans in many common workflow processes and to handle mundane tasks. Furthermore, a multi-agent system is advocated as an application or platform for managing distributed data. Specifically, this paper describes a conceptual design of a generic approach based on the notion of nodes to construct a Generic Nodal Abstraction (GNA) approach that is deployable as a modeling and simulation platform for organizational processes. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In order to select a small subset of informative genes from gene expression data for cancer classification, recently, many researchers are analyzing gene expression data using various computational intelligence methods. However, due to the small number of samples compared to the huge number of genes (high-dimension), irrelevant genes, and noisy genes, many of the computational methods face difficulties to select the small subset. Thus, we propose an enhancement of binary particle swarm optimization to select a small subset of informative genes that is relevant for classifying cancer samples more accurately. In this proposed method, three approaches have been introduced to increase the probability of bits in particle's positions to be zero. By performing experiments on two gene expression data sets, we have found that the performance of the proposed method is superior to previous related works, including the conventional version of binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) in terms of classification accuracy and the number of selected genes. The proposed method also produces lower running times compared to BPSO. © 2010 ISAROB.

Recent advances in microarray technology allow scientists to measure expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously in human tissue samples. This technology has been increasingly used in cancer research because of its potential for classification of the tissue samples based only on gene expression levels. A major problem in these microarray data is that the number of genes greatly exceeds the number of tissue samples. Moreover, these data have a noisy nature. It has been shown from literature review that selecting a small subset of informative genes can lead to an improved classification accuracy. Thus, this paper aims to select a small subset of informative genes that is most relevant for the cancer classification. To achieve this aim, an approach using two hybrid methods has been proposed. This approach is assessed on two well-known microarray data. The experimental results have shown that the gene subsets are very small in size and yield better classification accuracy as compared with other previous works as well as four methods experimented in this work. In addition, a list of informative genes in the best subsets is also presented for biological usage © 2008 IEEE.

Microarrays technology offers the ability to measure the expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously in biological organisms. Gene expression data that produced by the technology are expected to be of significant help in the development of efficient cancer diagnoses and classification platforms. The main problem that needs to be addressed is the selection of a small subset of genes from the thousands of genes in the data that contributes to a cancer disease. Therefore, this article proposes particle swarm optimization (PSO) with the constraint of particle's velocities to select a near-optimal (small) subset of informative genes that is relevant for cancer classification. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by two well-known gene expression data sets and obtained encouraging results as compared with the standard version of binary PSO. © 2010 ISAROB.

As modern software systems operate in a highly dynamic context, they have to adapt their behaviour in response to changes in their operational environment or/and requirements. Triggering adaptation depends on detecting quality of service (QoS) violations by comparing observed QoS values to predefined thresholds. These threshold-based adaptation approaches result in late adaptations as they wait until violations have occurred. This may lead to undesired consequences such as late response to critical events. In this paper we introduce a statistical approach CREQA - Control Charts for the Runtime Evaluation of QoS Attributes. This approach estimates at runtime capability of a system, and then it monitors and provides early detection of any changes in QoS values allowing timely intervention in order to prevent undesired consequences. We validated our approach using a series of experiments and response time datasets from real world web services. © 2011 IEEE.

Distributed collaboration over the Internet has become increasingly common in recent years, supported by various technologies such as virtual workspace systems. Often such collaboration is ad-hoc, and virtual workspaces are set up anew for each new instance of collaboration. We propose that much of the ad-hoc collaboration can be captured and transformed into patterns for reuse in future collaboration. This paper presents the results of the past five years of our work in this area. We introduce the notion of patterns of virtual collaboration;present a framework for extracting patterns of work in virtual workspace systems;and introduce an information model of virtual collaboration. We then present an overview of our data and process mining methods and reverse engineering techniques for discerning work processes carried out through virtual workspace systems. Finally we present our visual mining techniques that we use to discern aspects of work processes in virtual workspaces.

Web extension is a software that can be installed on a web browser. A web-extension link is displayed as an icon on the toolbar of the browser. Based on browsing activity, the extension works automatically or by clicking the extension icon depending on the functionalities made in the extension software. In this work, we developed a web extension on Google Chrome browser to verify online texts by simply clicking on an extension button. Upon clicking the button, the underlying algorithm in the extension software retrieves the texts from the current web-page being displayed. Verification and authentication of texts are performed by comparing the retrieved texts with text database. According to the comparison, texts are highlighted in colors. We consider authentication of Arabic Hadith texts for a case study. The authentic Hadith texts are highlighted by green color;authentic texts with partial diacritics, by yellow;and unauthentic texts, by red. This technique can also be used to authenticate laws, constitutions and Government documents in any language. © 2019 IEEE.
