The vision of 21 st century computing is that users can access Internet services over lightweight portable devices rather than via variants of the traditional desktop computer. Consequently, users will have no interest in large, powerful machines. How, then, will computing power be provided? The answer to this question lies in cloud computing. Cloud computing is a recent trend in IT in which computing power and knowledge are moved away from the desktop and desktop PCs into giant datacenters. In the cloud computing paradigm, applications are delivered as services over the Internet. The key driving forces behind cloud computing are the presence of broadband and wireless networking, falling storage prices, and progressive enhancements in Internet computing software packages. Cloud service shoppers can add additional capabilities at peak demand, reduce prices, experiment with new services, and remove unessential capabilities. Service suppliers can increase utilization via multiplexing and allow for larger investments in software packages and hardware.

One of the features of the system is resident participation. The GIS layer structure proposed in this paper nicely supports this user participation. It has been considered bon ton to blame locks for their fragility, especially since researchers identified obstruction-freedom: a progress condition that precludes locking while being weak enough to raise the hope for good performance. This paper attenuates this hope by establishing lower bounds on the complexity of obstruction-free implementations in contention-free executions: those where obstruction-freedom was precisely claimed to be effective. Through our lower bounds, we argue for an inherent cost of concurrent computing without locks. We first prove that obstruction-free implementations of a large class of objects, using only overwriting or trivial primitives in contention-free executions, have Ω(n) space complexity and Ω(log2 n) (obstruction-free) step complexity. These bounds apply to implementations of many popular objects, including variants of fetch&add, counter, compare&swap, and LL/SC. When arbitrary primitives can be applied in contention-free executions, we show that, in any implementation of binary consensus, or any perturbable object, the number of distinct base objects accessed and memory stalls incurred by some process in a contention free execution is Ω(√n). All these results hold regardless of the behavior of processes after they become aware of contention. We also prove that, in any obstruction-free implementation of a perturbable object in which processes are not allowed to fail their operations, the number of memory stalls incurred by some process that is unaware of contention is Ω(n). software testing is a critical part of software development. Often, test suite sizes grow significantly with subsequent modifications to the software over time resulting into potential redundancies. Test redundancies are undesirable as they incur costs and are not helpful to detect new bugs. Owing to time and resource constraints, test suite minimization strategies are often sought to remove those redundant test cases in an effort to ensure that each test can cover as much requirements as possible. There are already many works in the literature exploiting the greedy computational algorithms as well as the meta-heuristic algorithms, but no single strategy can claim dominance in terms of test data reduction over their counterparts. Furthermore, despite much useful work, existing strategies have not sufficiently explored the hybrid based meta-heuristic strategies. In order to improve the performance of existing strategies, hybridization is seen as the key to exploit the strength of more than one meta-heuristic algorithm. Given such prospects, this research explores a hybrid test redundancy reduction strategy based on Global Neighborhood Algorithm and Simulated Annealing, called GNAA. Overall, GNAA offers better reduction as compared to the original GNA and many existing works.
