In this paper, we describe and analyze the architecture of the proposed Debug Event Distribution Interconnect (EDI). The EDI transmits debug events, which are 1-bit signals, between debug entities in different areas of the Network-on-Chip based Multi-Processor System-on-Chip. The EDI replicates the NoC topology with an EDI node instantiated for each underlying NoC data module. Contention in the EDI node is handled by replicating the EDI in layers. The EDI generation is automatic, and uses as input the cross-triggering patterns that are not required to follow the communication patterns in the NoC. The generation and routing tool is also presented in this paper. The EDI is evaluated with four different implementations varying complexity and handling of contention. The area of a single EDI Layer is around 0.9% of the area occupied by the tested NoCs, using the lower area implementation. These results show that the proposed implementation of the EDI incurs low cost on the overall system.

computer vision is a field that includes methods for acquiring, processing, analyzing and understanding images. In the embedded world, computer vision applications have to fight with limited processing power and limited resources to achieve optimized algorithms and high performance. This paper presents work on implementing a human tracking system on both Intel based PC platform and embedded systems to optimize the algorithms for high performance. The algorithms are benchmarked on the Intel platform processor and BeagleBoard xM baed on low-power Texas Instruments (TI) DM3730 ARM processor. Functions and library in OpenCV which developed by Intel Corporation was utilized for building the human tracking algorithms.

Tamper localization capable image watermarking scheme is able to detect the location of manipulated areas, and verify other areas as authentic. The usage of block average intensity in the tamper localization process is one of the popular techniques due to its easy implementation. The effectiveness of using average intensity for tamper localization had not been properly tested. Experiments were performed using a tamper localization watermarking scheme for medical image which is based on block average intensity. The results shows that the tamper localization process will fail in certain conditions and caused some tampering left undetected. © 2011 IEEE.

Data replication is one of the mechanisms in data grid architecture since it improves data access and reliability. Therefore, the storage, availability, and consistency are important issues to be addressed in order to allow distributed users efficiently and safely access data from many different sites. This paper propose a new algorithm namely Binary Vote Assignment on Grid Quorum (BVAGQ) in order to handle data replication and transaction management. We address how to build reliable system by using the proposed BVAGQ algorithm for distributed database fragmentation. The result show that managing replication and transaction through proposed BVAGQ able to prepare data consistency. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The authenticity or originality of sport jersey cloth fabric in market nowadays is difficult to distinguish. This is a critical issue that leads to the difficulty for customer to know whether they are purchase the original fabric or the fake one. The purpose of this paper is to develop a prototype for Fabric Authenticity System to judge the originality of jersey cloth fabric based on its pattern structure. Besides this, this study aimed to identify the image processing technique which is Fourier analysis to differentiate the authentic and artificial fabric. As a result, the originality of the fabric can be detected based on the fabric pattern structure itself by looking on its Fourier spectrum. © 2011 IEEE.

In this study, a system of discrete optical pulse generation via a series of microring resonator (MRR) is presented. Chaotic signals can be generated by an optical soliton or a Gaussian pulse within a MRR system. Large bandwidth signals of optical soliton are generated by input pulse propagating within the MRRs, which can be used to form continuous wavelength or frequency with large tunable channel capacity. Therefore, distinguished discrete wavelength or frequency pulses can be generated by using localized spatial pulses via a networks communication system. Selected discrete pulses are more suitable to generate high-secured quantum codes because of the large free spectral range (FSR). Quantum codes can be generated by using a polarization control unit and a beam splitter, incorporating to the MRRs. In this work, frequency band of 10.7 MHz and 16 MHz and wavelengths of 206.9 nm, 1448 nm, 2169 nm and 2489 nm are localized and obtained which can be used for quantum codes generation applicable for secured networks communication.

This paper presents an integration of a model-based methodology for embedded real-time software with MARTE. However, although has being introduced as a new profile to overcome problem in previous profile, a sound and systematic methodology is necessary to tackle complexity problem that arise. The objective of this paper is to propose an integration of profile and method for satisfying embedded real-time software requirements and helping engineers to model their system, enhancing the structure and behavior modeling. For that, this paper describes a proposed methodology for the integration process, involving two elements: a profile and a method. The integration result will support to solve complexity whereby the profile is used to solve the lack of specific modeling language notation for embedded real-time system and the method can provide a systematical software process. The proposed integration component model is applied on a case study to show its enhancements. © 2011 IEEE.

Beside commercial games there are so-called educational games. When the main purpose of the game is to educate - then it is called educational game. In that kind of games the main focus of modelling is on design of learning elements around given educational course or around existing real-world educational curriculum. Educational games employed large variety of genres and it is difficult to be classified purely in one style, and often game is combination of different styles. For successful adaptive learning with game elements is necessary to research and specify different gaming styles, mapped to learning styles. This paper proposes a model of so called learmer (learner mapped with gamer style) and model of the educational game structures using and identifying the objects which are relevant for the domain of study and describing connecting relationships among these objects. © 2011 ACM.

Competency is a vital characteristic to all area of action, especially in an emergency situation. This is because people must react according to what they supposed to react. If an individual lacking competence in the job or life, the person may take wrong action and make more loss in the area of work or situation such loss of life, injured, and others. To make them competence, people need to attend training. The training give them knowledge and skill. So, good attitude with knowledge and skill make them competence. A chemical company in Pahang, Malaysia has been selected as a case study to model the framework of emergency, response and preparedness (ERP). The framework of ERP was according to the company's competency by considering three elements which are the skill, knowledge and attitude. This paper presents the initialization theorem, pre-condition calculation and properties proving for competency requirement. The competency requirement specification written uses Z notation.
