Hepatitis patients are those who need continuous special medical treatment to reduce mortality rate. Using clinical test findings data and machine learning technology such as Support Vector Machines (SVM), the classification and prediction of their life prognosis can be done. However, we cannot pledge that all the features values in the data are correlated to each other. Therefore, we incorporate Wrapper Methods to remove noise features before classification. This study shows the increase in prediction between data by combining feature selection method prior to classification process. ©2010 IEEE.

Epilepsy is caused by sudden flurries of electrochemical activity in the brain, which interrupt the 'conversation' among neurons. Consciousness, memory, sense, speech, mood, movement, and motions can all be affected during the one or two minutes that the seizure lasts. Walking, jogging, running and stationary bicycling are particularly safe, but especially "Prayer type yoga exercise" clearly benefits epileptic inhabitants to control epilepsy because it often reduces seizure frequency, relieves depression, decreases social segregation, and promotes cardiac and general health. This paper proposes the study about yoga "Prayer", which is not really an exercise but similar to yoga, helping in controlling of epilepsy and also physically, mentally, spiritually relaxation can also be achieved through this method. Spiritual religious believe and practices have an important impact on both physical and mental health. © 2010 IEEE.

Employing a parallel crawler as a multi processes crawler causes different issues of concern in comparison to applying a single-process crawler. These issues impact on achieving the results with higher or even the same quality from a parallel crawler in comparison to a centralized one. Existed parallel crawlers' architectures employ link dependant metrics -such as Backlink count or PageRank - for URL importance determination in order to prioritize the queue of each process. Then the specific number of the most important pages is sent to the index section of the crawler for further processing on their content. Application of metrics with link dependent nature causes considerable overhead on the overall parallel crawler resulted from the link information exchange among different processes. In this paper we propose the application of clickstream analysis as a link independent Web page importance metric in a parallel crawler. Our approach includes proposing an algorithm for a balanced performance of different processes within a parallel crawler which results in the discovery of higher quality pages by the overall parallel crawler with less overhead in comparison to a centralized crawler which employs link dependant metrics of importance. © 2010 IEEE.

The rapid growth of the computer technologies and the advent of World Wide Web have increased the amount and the complexity of multimedia information. Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system has been developed as an efficient image retrieval tool whereby user can provide their query to the system to allow it to retrieve the user's desired image from image database. However, the traditional relevance feedback of CBIR has some limitations that decrease the performance of the CBIR system that are the imbalance of training set problem, classification problem, limited information from user problem, and insufficient training set problem. Therefore, in this paper we propose a modified relevant feedback method to support the user query and user profiles based on the weight ranking of the image retrieved. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) has been used to support the learning process in order to reduce the semantic gap between user and the CBIR system. From the experiments, the proposed learning method has enabled the users to improve their search results based on the precision and accuracy. © 2010 ISAROB.

One of the prominent principles of designing services is the matter of how abstract services should be i.e. granularity. Since service-oriented analysis and design methods lack on providing a quantitative model for service granularity level evaluation, identification of optimally granular services is the key challenge in service-oriented solution development. This article through a systematic process proposes a model namely Weighted Granularity Level Appropriateness (WGLA) which leverages and consolidates four metrics to constitute quantitative basis for granularity appropriateness analysis. These metrics are, indeed, the four quantified attributes of service granularity including business value, reusability, context-independency, and complexity. Our preliminary controlled experiment confirms the correctness of the quantitative model. In fact, by adopting WGLA metric, service granularity appropriateness analysis could be conduct quantitatively that leads to realize an optimized service-oriented solution in terms of its granularity. © 2010 IEEE.

This research proposes a new artificial intelligence strategy to enhance software games based on heart rate variability. The model consists of two modules (visual learning and IQ test) that will conjoined with a biofeedback device connected to a computer to monitor student heart rate and record its changes in a stressful situation and generate appropriate reports. By playing these two games student will be able to improve their learning capability and control their heart rate variability. ©2010 IEEE.

In order to select a small subset of informative genes from gene expression data for cancer classification, recently, many researchers are analyzing gene expression data using various computational intelligence methods. However, due to the small number of samples compared to the huge number of genes (high-dimension), irrelevant genes, and noisy genes, many of the computational methods face difficulties to select the small subset. Thus, we propose an enhancement of binary particle swarm optimization to select a small subset of informative genes that is relevant for classifying cancer samples more accurately. In this proposed method, three approaches have been introduced to increase the probability of bits in particle's positions to be zero. By performing experiments on two gene expression data sets, we have found that the performance of the proposed method is superior to previous related works, including the conventional version of binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) in terms of classification accuracy and the number of selected genes. The proposed method also produces lower running times compared to BPSO. © 2010 ISAROB.

Microarrays technology offers the ability to measure the expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously in biological organisms. Gene expression data that produced by the technology are expected to be of significant help in the development of efficient cancer diagnoses and classification platforms. The main problem that needs to be addressed is the selection of a small subset of genes from the thousands of genes in the data that contributes to a cancer disease. Therefore, this article proposes particle swarm optimization (PSO) with the constraint of particle's velocities to select a near-optimal (small) subset of informative genes that is relevant for cancer classification. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated by two well-known gene expression data sets and obtained encouraging results as compared with the standard version of binary PSO. © 2010 ISAROB.

Anaphora resolution (AR) is a process to identify the appropriate antecedent with its anaphor which occur before the anaphor. AR able to improve most of the NLP applications such as question answering, short answer examination system and information extraction. Most of AR systems are deal with English language. Thus, in 1990's the research on AR has been applied for other language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Hindi and Norwegian. There are however limited or no effort in dealing with Malay text. The AR systems for one language cannot be simply adapted to use in other languages. This is due to the fact that different languages have different set of rules relating to syntax and semantic to respective language. This paper proposed a model for resolving anaphora phenomena in Malay text. The model consists of three elements consisting of anaphora resolution process, syntactic knowledge process and semantic-world knowledge process. The elements are defined based on the observable fact occurring in Malay language. © 2010 IEEE.

The design and deployment of efficient vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications systems require the knowledge of the propagation channel in which it will operate. Due to the mobility of the transmitter/receiver terminals as well as the existence of dynamic scatterers, the V2V channel is nonstationary. To account for the nonstationarity, channel characterization methods that employs the non wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (non-WSSUS) approach are often desired. More also the inadequacy of the Doppler shift operator to properly account for frequency variation effects by the wideband channel operator implies that the time-frequency characterization methods that employ the Doppler shift operator are not appropriate for wideband V2V channels. In this paper we present the time-scale domain characterization of the non-WSSUS channel which employs time scaling operator to account for frequency variation and also emphasizes on the non-stationary property of the channel. The non-WSSUS statistical property termed local sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (LSSUS) is employed. The effect of the channel nonstationarity on the channel capacity is also addressed. From the simulated example, it is inferred that the assumption of ergodic capacity depend on the number of available independent fades which invariably depend on the degree of the V2V channel nonstationarity. © 2010 IEEE.
