The deployment of distributed multi-controllers for Software-Defined Networking(SDN)architecture is an emerging solution to improve network scalability and ***,the network control failure affects the dynamic resource allocation in distributed networks resulting in network disruption and low ***,we consider the control plane fault tolerance for cost-effective and accurate controller location models during control plane *** fault-tolerance strategy has been applied to distributed SDN control architecture,which allows each switch to migrate to next controller to enhance network *** this paper,the Reliable and Dynamic Mapping-based Controller Placement(RDMCP)problem in distributed architecture is framed as an optimization problem to improve the system reliability,quality,and *** considering the bound constraints,a heuristic state-of-the-art Controller Placement Problem(CPP)algorithm is used to address the optimal assignment and reassignment of switches to nearby controllers other than their regular *** algorithm identifies the optimal controller location,minimum number of controllers,and the expected assignment costs after failure at the lowest effective cost.A metaheuristic Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)algorithm was combined with RDMCP to form a hybrid approach that improves objective function optimization in terms of reliability and *** effectiveness of our hybrid RDMCP-PSO was then evaluated using extensive experiments and compared with other baseline *** findings demonstrate that the proposed hybrid technique significantly increases the network performance regarding the controller number and load balancing of the standalone heuristic CPP algorithm.

An emerging new technology called the Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) uses wireless technologies to enhance inter-vehicle communications and traffic safety. Due to its hybrid network designs, node movement characteristics, and novel application scenarios, VANET differs from other types of ad hoc networks. Moreover, the VANET utilizes some technologies for navigating. One of these technologies is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which is used in many fields and applications to facilitate good communication and management of resources. Although RFID technology helps reduce the complexity of everyday life, it faces some challenges, the most important of that is security, which will be addressed in this paper. This paper extensively surveys the most severe cybersecurity challenges and attacks on VANET-RFID. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing popularity of telecommunication networks and their ubiquitous support for our every-day activities impose their high performance and uninterrupted operation. It might be achieved for instance by implementing highly efficient and survivable routing algorithms. In this paper, we study the problem of allocating dynamic traffic requests (representing four transmission types - city-city, city-data center, data center-city, data center-data center) in elastic optical network and providing their protection against a single link failure. To this end, we propose a dedicated traffic-aware approach, which combines dedicated path protection scheme and a traffic forecasting model. Then, we perform simulations to: (i) tune the proposed approach and (ii) evaluate its performance based on the comparison with reference methods. The results show a high efficiency of the proposed allocation scheme, which outperforms the reference algorithms. Particularly, it allowed to reduce the bandwidth blocking probability by up to 1.49% and serve up to 15.321 Tbps more traffic. © 2022 IEEE.

Multimodal data processing has recently become popular due to technological advances and easier access to real video, audio, images, or text data. This data type is often processed using deep neural networks associated with high time and computational complexity. The present work addresses the problem of classifying a multimodal MM-IMDb dataset, representing the problem of recognizing a movie genre based on a poster and a brief description of the plot. For experiments, 20 binary subsets were separated, from which features were then extracted. Features from the text were obtained using the tf-idf method, while the posters were reduced to a single color. computer experiments on the resulting tabular data were conducted separately on both modalities, as in the concatenated feature space. The results confirmed that classical approaches to feature extraction could allow satisfactory quality classification of multimodal data to be obtained even when using relatively simple pattern recognition algorithms. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The problem of forecasting long sequences is important in many different domains. Proper selection of the hyperparameters when a machine learning approach is applied could make the difference between adequate and inadequate model. Several algorithms for automatic hyperparameters tuning were evaluated and compared with baseline selection. As a result, recommendations have been made. Some of the intuitive assumptions for the baseline model proved to be wrong. © 2022 IEEE.

The recent research reveals a high potential and efficiency of machine learning (ML) algorithms applied to aid the optimization of telecommunication networks. Moreover, thanks to the tools of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), it is possible to better understand and interpret the decisions of ML models, identify the features influencing them the most, and use that knowledge for further targeted optimization improvements. In this paper, we use these approaches to aid the optimization of the well-known and essential problem of dynamic routing in software-defined elastic optical networks (EONS). We use the XAI to verify which transmission and network state parameters influence the performance the most (expressed as a bandwidth blocking probability (BBP)) of a dynamic EON. The analysis reveals that two of the most relevant features are related to characteristics of the incoming traffic requests - the source node and the traffic prediction for the demand's source-destination nodes. Next, we use that data to propose six traffic prediction-and XAI-based demands ordering policies, which are used to improve a benchmark allocation algorithm. Then, we perform simulations to evaluate the policies' efficiency and compare them with reference methods. The results show that our targeted proposal is exceptionally efficient - the best policy allowed to reduce the BBP up to about 6.1%, representing 4203 Gbps of more served traffic compared to the best reference policy.

Objective: To establish a DNA detection platform based on a tapered optical fiber to detect Leptospira DNA by targeting the leptospiral secY ***: The biosensor works on the principle of light propagating in the special geometry of the optical fiber tapered from a waist diameter of 125 to 12 μm. The fiber surface was functionalized through a cascade of chemical treatments and the immobilization of a DNA capture probe targeting the secY gene. The presence of the target DNA was determined from the wavelength shift in the optical transmission ***: The biosensor demonstrated good sensitivity, detecting Leptospira DNA at 0.001 ng/μL, and was selective for Leptospira DNA without cross-reactivity with non-leptospiral microorganisms. The biosensor specifically detected DNA that was specifically amplified through the loop-mediated isothermal amplification ***: These findings warrant the potential of this platform to be developed as a novel alternative approach to diagnose leptospirosis.

One of the most critical features of the Internet of Things (IoT) is that it allows a massive number of devices to communicate with each other at the same time, for example (cars, smoke alarms, watches, glasses, web cameras, etc.). Given that they can connect to the Internet, the huge demand to convert systems into smart systems that can be controlled remotely increases the chances of cyber-attacks that threaten security and availability becoming more frequent, severe, and in a different form. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks have become the most common threats in IoT. These attacks make IoT systems unreliable because complex DDoS attacks cannot be detected by traditional security countermeasures such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS). In this research, we proposed a model dedicated to work on prediction and detection of DDoS attacks on networks IoT, where we run this model on a NF-BoT-IoT-v2 dataset, which contains 37,763,497 records divided into five categories (Benign, Reconnaissance, DDoS, DoS, and Theft), and then we process our dataset to be more business friendly so it only has two categories (100,000 records broken down into 23,906 benign attacks and 76,094 DDoS attacks). This study used WEKA and MATLAB tools to perform the classification efficiently and find the most important features through feature selection. We used a decision tree (J48) machine learning classifier, a Naive Bayes (NB) classifier, and a random forest (RF) classifier. This paper introduces a conversational framework that enhances the usability of smart energy system simulations. This study is centered around OpenAI's Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT), a fine-tuned conversational model that allows users to communicate with the system in a natural way. Therefore, users can describe their simulation scenarios in plain language and GPT seamlessly translates these descriptions into Python scripts, used as inputs to the simulation environment, in our case, AnyLogic Simulation Software. Our framework is based on the i7-AnyEnergy core framework to compute distribution flows and relevant statistics. The proposed human-machine interface facilitates and accelerates simulation modeling, as demonstrated through the two scenarios we have provided in this paper. Overall, our conversational framework has the potential to significantly improve the user experience of smart energy system simulation environments. By simplifying the interaction between users and complex simulation models, we enable users to obtain valuable insights rapidly and more easily. © 2023 IEEE.

Recently,Opportunistic networks(OppNets)are considered to be one of the most attractive developments of Mobile Ad Hoc networks that have arisen thanks to the development of intelligent *** are characterized by a rough and dynamic topology as well as unpredictable contacts and contact *** is forwarded and stored in intermediate nodes until the next opportunity ***,achieving a high delivery ratio in OppNets is a challenging *** is imperative that any routing protocol use network resources,as far as they are available,in order to achieve higher network *** this article,we introduce the Resource-Aware Routing(ReAR)protocol which dynamically controls the buffer usage with the aim of balancing the load in resource-constrained,stateless and non-social *** ReAR protocol invokes our recently introduced mutual informationbased weighting approach to estimate the impact of the buffer size on the network performance and ultimately to regulate the buffer consumption in real *** proposed routing protocol is proofed conceptually and simulated using the Opportunistic Network Environment *** show that the ReAR protocol outperforms a set of well-known routing protocols such as EBR,Epidemic MaxProp,energy-aware Spray and Wait and energy-aware PRoPHETin terms of message delivery ratio and overhead ratio.
