Euler Lagrange Skeletal Animation (ELSA) is the novel and fast model for skeletal animation, based on the Euler Lagrange equations of motion and configuration and phase space notion. Single joint’s animation is an integral curve in the vector field generated by those PDEs. Considering the point in the phase space belonging to the animation at current time, by adding the vector pinned to this point and multiplied by the elapsed time, one can designate the new point in the phase space. It defines the state, especially the position (or rotation) of the joint after this time elapses. Starting at time 0 and repeating this procedure N times, there is obtained the approximation, and if the N→ ∞ the integral curve itself. Applying above, to all joint in the skeletal model constitutes ELSA. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Digital twins have a major potential to form a significant part of urban management in emergency planning, as they allow more efficient designing of the escape routes, better orientation in exceptional situations, and faster rescue intervention. Nevertheless, creating the twins still remains a largely manual effort, due to a lack of 3D-representations, which are available only in limited amounts for some new buildings. Thus, in this paper we aim to synthesize 3D information from commonly available 2D architectural floor plans. We propose two novel pixel-wise segmentation methods based on the MDA-Unet and MACU-Net architectures with improved skip connections, an attention mechanism, and a training objective together with a reconstruction part of the pipeline, which vectorizes the segmented plans to create a 3D model. The proposed methods are compared with two other state-of-the-art techniques and several benchmark datasets. On the commonly used CubiCasa benchmark dataset, our methods have achieved the mean F1 score of 0.86 over five examined classes, outperforming the other pixel-wise approaches tested. The rapid development of digital technology has brought about the challenge of ensuring information security. Cryptography and steganography are among the various techniques available to address this challenge. These techniques come in different forms and provide reliable means of securing information and communication. Despite the existence of numerous options, new variations are still emerging. This paper concentrates on Least Significant Bit (LSB) coding, which is one of the most widely recognized and frequently utilized steganography techniques. The advantages of LSB-based coding methods are high capacity and low complexity. However, predictability is an issue. Audio files’ sizes and data redundancy make audio data perfect for steganography, as it is possible to embed large amounts of secret information and easily transmit the signal via various communication channels. However, the use of LSB coding in audio steganography has a drawback due to the extreme sensitivity of the human auditory system (HAS). This means that any noise added to the audio with data embedded in the LSBs can be detected by the HAS, which is dependent on the number of LSBs used. This work presents an improvement of the LSB-based approach, the XORing of LSBs method, with an emphasis on enhanced security. The method achieves this by randomly picking the pairs of bits to be XOR’d while preserving the characteristics of classic LSB methods. To verify the method, it has been implemented on the Cirrus Logic DSP, proving that it may be efficiently used in a real-time audio environment without interfering with HAS sensitivity levels.

In this paper, the problem of fault estimation and localization in the connecting dynamic elements of distributed heating and cooling systems are treated. The fault represents the physical parameter change related to the heat transfer between the system and the external environment. First, based on the bi-linear dynamic state space model of the system in the presence of a fault, structural observability analysis using Signed Directed Graph (SDG) has been performed to investigate the sensor placement problem. Then, a nonlinear observer with a parameter adaptation algorithm was proposed for fault estimation. The simulation results show that it can successfully detect and estimate the fault. Fault localization along the length of the element has also been attempted, but it has been found that the localization cannot be performed using practically changeable input variables. Frequency domain analysis is presented to discuss this phenomenon.

Diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI) forecasts are critical for adopting solar photovoltaic technology. Yet, they can lack reliability given the limited and uncertain meteorological data available for desert areas. This research develops a new sine cosine dipper throated optimization (SCDTO) technique, targeting DHI prediction even given such data constraints. SCDTO uniquely hybridizes sine cosine metaheuristics, adept at exploration, with dipper throat optimization, providing focused exploitation. This hybridization aims to create a robust ensemble model capable of delivering reliable DHI predictions despite climatic uncertainty. The ensemble model, employing various input combinations, was rigorously evaluated across multiple meteorological stations. The SCDTO algorithm exhibited remarkable performance improvements, yielding substantial reductions exceeding 93% in root mean squared error and 98% in mean absolute error at key stations in Morocco, including Tan-Tan, Zagora, Erfoud, and Oujda. Comparative analyses against established optimization algorithms consistently underscored the superior predictive capabilities of SCDTO. Visualizations, including box plots and histograms, demonstrated SCDTO’s efficacy in minimizing prediction errors, particularly for Tan-Tan, Zagora, and Erfoud stations. Also, statistical validation through one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) further affirmed the significance of the proposed SCDTO method. Therefore, this hybrid metaheuristic optimization enables more accurate DHI predictions from limited meteorological data. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Marine toxins present considerable challenges to public health due to their intricate biochemical profiles that complicate effectual analysis. In addressing this, our study utilizes a pioneering Ecoinformatics method, employing artificial intelligence to meticulously examine the hepatotoxic effects of stonefish venom on murine models. The convergence of biochemical assays, histopathological scrutiny, and cutting-edge machine learning algorithms is strategically designed to unravel the complex modalities of venom-induced toxicity. Our findings offer unprecedented insight into the hepatotoxic dynamics of marine venoms, underscoring the utility of AI in advancing marine toxin research. This multifaceted research not only deepens our comprehension of venom pathology but also forges a pathway toward enhanced antivenom solutions, thereby reinforcing public health measures in marine and coastal ecosystems. © 2023 IEEE.

This study presents a dipper-throated-based ant colony optimization (DTACO) with the Seasonal Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average with eXogenous factor (SARIMAX) model (DTACO+SARIMAX) to forecast monkeypox cases. The work optimizes the SARIMAX model using grid search cross-validation and fine-tunes its hyperparameters using DTACO to improve prediction accuracy. The suggested model's consistency and accuracy are considerable compared to previous studies. Comparisons with state-of-the-art models validate the proposed model's predictions. DTACO+SARIMAX can be used to control disease and monitor monkeypox. Healthcare organizations and governments can better manage and track the pandemic's course by offering accurate predictions, reducing public panic, and enabling effective pandemic planning. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests are conducted on the proposed DTACO-SARIMAX model and compared models.

In order for higher levels of autonomous driving to be achieved, the demanding environmental perception and decision-making algorithms are developed. Meeting real-time system requirements is a mandatory task for all of these algorithms to be properly utilized. In order to meet these requirements, GPUs are widely used, and one of the biggest challenges is providing the deterministic scheduling of different tasks on GPU based on their priority classes. The complete determinism which ensures the absolute control of processes on GPU has still not been achieved. In this paper, we propose and evaluate one method that allows scheduling of tasks with different types of time constraints. © 2021 IEEE.

Lyapunov Characterization for ISS of Impulsive Switched systems

In this study, we investigate the ISS of impulsive switched systems that have modes with both stable and unstable flows. We assume that the switching signal satisfies mode-dependent average dwell and leave time conditions. To establish ISS conditions, we propose two types of time-varying ISS-Lyapunov functions: one that is non-decreasing and another one that is decreasing. Our research proves that the existence of either of these ISS-Lyapunov functions is a necessary and sufficient condition for ISS. We also present a technique for constructing a decreasing ISS-Lyapunov function from a non-decreasing one, which is useful for its own sake. Our findings also have added value to previous research that only studied sufficient conditions for ISS, as our results apply to a broader class of systems. This is because we impose less restrictive dwell and leave time constraints on the switching signal and our ISS-Lyapunov functions are time-varying with general nonlinear conditions imposed on them. Moreover, we provide a method to guarantee the ISS of a particular class of impulsive switched systems when the switching signal is unknown. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
