This paper mainly discusses two kinds of coupled reaction-diffusion neural networks (CRNN) under topology attacks, that is, the cases with multistate couplings and with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings. On one hand, by adopting state feedback control scheme, the problem of the lag synchronization for the multistate coupled CRNN is addressed. Moreover, the influences of external disturbances for the lag synchronization of the CRNN with multistate couplings are also taken into consideration. On the other hand, several lag and lag H∞ synchronization conditions for CRNN with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings are derived under the help of the Kronecker product and the state feedback control method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to verify the correctness of the derived criteria. © 2014 IEEE.

Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) applications encounter issues with data protection, continual adaptation, and domain-specific knowledge retention, especially in consumer-centric IoMT scenarios. We overcome these obstacles and facilitate effective knowledge retention and task adaptation in IoMT applications. This study attempts to create a unique privacy-preserving federated learning framework that combines a hierarchical learning structure with Continual Learning (CL). Despite the advancements in Federated Learning (FL), current models have trouble integrating changing datasets in real-time while protecting privacy, as well as catastrophic forgetting, which occurs when previously learned knowledge is lost when adjusting to new tasks. We present a hierarchical learning framework that makes use of three levels of models -Junior Model (JM), Consultant Model (CM), and Senior Consultant Model (SCM) -to overcome these drawbacks. Each level of the model aids in archived retention and domain-knowledge adaptation. To guarantee that the model maintains valuable information over time and adapts to new tasks with ease, our method blends domain adaptation strategies with ongoing learning approaches like knowledge distillation and elastic weight consolidation (EWC). We compare the suggested methodology with current state-of-the-art (SOTA) models on healthcare datasets for tasks like illness diagnosis and medical image categorization. According to our findings, the hierarchical continual learning model performs better than SOTA techniques in terms of accuracy, task adaptability, and privacy protection. In the healthcare industry, our study sets a new standard for privacy-preserving, continuously adaptable federated learning systems, allowing for real-time, scalable IoMT applications that can adapt dynamically to a variety of changing datasets. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The efficient operation of large-scale Cable-Driven Parallel Robots (CDPRs) relies on precise calibration of kinematic parameters and the simplicity of the calibration process. This paper presents a graph-based self-calibration framework that explicitly addresses cable sag effects and facilitates the calibration procedure for large-scale CDPRs by only relying on internal sensors. A unified factor graph is proposed, incorporating a catenary cable model to capture cable sagging. The factor graph iteratively refines kinematic parameters, including anchor point locations and initial cable length, by considering jointly onboard sensor data and the robot’s kineto-static model. The applicability and accuracy of the proposed technique are demonstrated through Finite Element (FE) simulations, on both large and small-scale CDPRs subjected to significant initialization perturbations.

SOME/IP is a communication protocol introduced in automotive industry to enable Service Oriented Architecture which is not possible using traditional automotive protocols such as CAN or FlexRay. A trend emerging in the last years in the Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) is that SOME/IP became one of main communication protocols used for communication between safety and performance ECU devices. Currently in the market, including the open-source solutions, there is a set of different SOME/IP implementations that have different audience and combination of characteristics like high royalty costs, available feature set and software solution maturity. This paper presents the Bitroute SOME/IP, a new implementation of the SOME/IP communication protocol with focus on performance and deployment platform independency and compares it with the open-source solution from The Connected Vehicle systems Alliance (COVESA).

In recent years, online social networks and online news venues have become some of the main news and event-related information spreading mediums. Although using these mediums has facilitated the speed of accessing information, it also created a new phenomenon used for propaganda and disinformation: fake news. As fake news has detrimental consequences to society, new technologies need to be developed in order to stop their harmful effects. In this paper, we propose two Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) architectures with sentence transformers to solve two tasks: (1) a multi-class mono-lingual fake news detection task (i.e., mono-lingual task);and (2) a multi-class cross-lingual fake news detection task (i.e., cross-lingual task). For the mono-lingual task, we train and test a BiLSTM with BART sentence transformers model on an English dataset and obtain an accuracy of ∼ 0.53 and an F1-Score of ∼ 0.32. For the cross-lingual task, we train a BiLSTM with XLM sentence transformers model on an English dataset and test the model using transfer learning on a German dataset. For this task, we obtain an accuracy of ∼ 0.28 and an F1-Score of ∼ 0.19. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Every new generation of modern vehicles aims to provide the customers with a higher level of comfort and entertainment services. Consequently, the burden is placed upon the manufacturers to incorporate ever more complex electronic systems in their products and introduce service-based technologies. To meet these demands, service-oriented architecture (SOA) has become an integral part of the Adaptive AUTOSAR as the industry standard. Also, mobile services and applications are natively supported in the new in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVI) which usually run on the Android operating system. As these fundamentally different technologies are incorporated in the vehicles, the developers are facing the challenge of connecting them and exchanging information between the services running in different domains. Service-oriented architectures usually rely on a model-driven engineering approach to facilitate the development of the applications. However, as the complexity of the system grows, the mapping of various metamodels becomes a challenge, as no single standard is used across all domains in the vehicle. This paper provides a possible solution for mapping the already existing AUTOSAR metamodel to an Android Interface Definition Language (AIDL) metamodel. By applying the proposed mapping, it is possible to build applications that require the cooperation of various domains within the vehicle.

Expertise is a universal method for solving managerial decision problems and is used in cases where there are no (or not found) criteria that allow solving the problem optimally or rationally. At its core, the examination is based on the use of human experience and is carried out with the involvement of experts. Recently, expert evaluations have been intensively used in various fields, especially in the prediction of tectonic natural disasters, because statistical data in this field are very few or difficult to obtain and analyze. Our article discusses the initial and subsequent criteria for determining the competence of experts, what influence the competence of an expert has in calculating his rank, and how these ranks are used for the conclusion of a group of experts, if this or that event will occur or what is the percentage of the event's occurrence.

Low-cost IoT-Based sensors dashboard for monitoring the state of health of mobile harbor cranes: Hardware and software description

A cost-effective IoT-based real-time data acquisition and analysis hardware system was developed to enhance the performance of the mobile harbor cranes using a combination of a cost-effective quality control monitoring sensor dashboard (proximity sensors, angle position sensor, weight sensor, vibration sensor, and wind sensor), embedded microcontroller (Arduino), and embedded computer (Raspberry Pi). Hardware was operated using a specially developed novel Quality control and Data Acquisition Multiprocessing software (QC-DAS). The QC-DAS can automatically collect and save real-time data of the sensors in a large-capacity SD card, monitor the state of health of the hardware, and transmit the real-time data of the sensors and the working state of the crane to an IoT server. The novelty of the QC-DAS design is that each function is encapsulated in a predefined module that is “immersed” in a message transmission medium. Modules interact by sending and receiving various signals through this medium. Modularity makes system design simpler, faster, and flexible. Thanks to modularity, users may incorporate their data processing modules when new sensors are added to match the system's needs. Thanks to modularity the DC-DAS can operate quality control hardware for any mobile cranes. There are several constraints in the quality control data acquisition system used by the Damietta Port Authority in Damietta, Egypt, SESCO TRANS company which cause the loading and unloading process to be slowed down. As a result, the SESCO TRANS company upgraded its quality control data acquisition system using the QC-DAS. The hardware was deployed for six months, during which the collected data was used to verify the crane's performance. This paper presents a novel computer vision-based approach for assessing leg length discrepancy (LLD) in individuals with prosthetic limbs. The proposed solution uses image processing techniques to detect markers placed on the patient's knee, prosthesis, and a reference wall, allowing for precise measurement of limb alignment. Through a comparative analysis of the initial reference position, set by a specialist, and the current limb positioning, the algorithm identifies discrepancies in leg length. The system employs a non-invasive methodology, utilizing an IP camera to capture images and communicate them via Wi-Fi to a computing unit for further analysis. Experimental validation, conducted on simulated LLDs ranging from 1mm to 10mm, demonstrates the system's high sensitivity and accuracy in detecting subtle changes in limb alignment. This approach offers a scalable, automated alternative to traditional manual methods, improving both the reliability and ease of prosthetic adjustments.
