The main issue of this paper is social machine, analyzed as united system of computers and people. Here proposed analysis presents the social machines as a class of relationships between individual and social behavior on one hand, and between hardware and software systems on the other hand. The emergence of social machines can be expected to fundamentally change the way in which such properties and functions of the social systems are built. In this context, the concept about social machines appears as a contemporary model for unifying both computational and social processes. Providing social machines engineers with the appropriate modern tools to create corresponding system functions is a problem, which needs to be addressed to future scientists in this new area.

Convective heat and mass transfer analysis on peristaltic flow of Williamson fluid with Hall effects and Joule heating

This paper deals with the peristaltic flow of an incompressible and electrically conducting Williamson fluid in a symmetric planar channel with heat and mass transfer. Hall effects, viscous dissipation and Joule heating are also taken into consideration. Mathematical model is presented by using the long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximations. The differential equations governing the flow are highly nonlinear and thus perturbation solution for small Weissenberg number （0 〈 We 〈 1） is presented. Effects of the heat and mass transfer Biot numbers and Hall parameter on the longitudinal velocity, temperature, concentration and pumping characteristics are studied in detail. Main observations are presented in the concluding section, The streamlines pattern and trapping are also given due attention.

This paper introduces a systematic approach to synthesize linear parameter-varying (LPV) representations of nonlinear (NL) systems which are originally defined by control affine state-space representations. The conversion approach results in LPV state-space representations in the observable canonical form. Based on the relative degree concept of NL systems, the states of a given NL representation are transformed to new coordinates that provide its normal form. In the SISO case, all nonlinearities of the original system are embedded in one NL function which is factorized to construct the LPV form. An algorithms is proposed for this purpose. The resulting transformation yields an LPV model where the scheduling parameter depends on the derivatives of the inputs and outputs of the system. In addition, if the states of the NL model can be measured or estimated, then the procedure can be modified to provide LPV models scheduled by these states. Examples are included for illustration. © IFAC.

The fuzzy logic theory has been proven to be effective in dealing with various nonlinear systems and has a great success in industry applications. Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted. In the end, conclusions are drawn and some possible future research directions are pointed out. © 2015 Sunjie Zhang et al.

With the growing interest in social media, attention should be given to privacy and trust issues. Social applications are usually proposed and developed without clear measures related to privacy and trust issues. In this paper, we propose a framework for data sharing in social mobile applications that helps users having dynamic control of their information sharing on social networks. We also show how this framework can be implemented by means of a simulation console and an example.

In this paper authors will expose a work developed with the aim to submit an educational innovation project proposal to a competitive call for Educational Innovation Projects 2013-2015 of the Education Advisory Service of the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU, Spain). This project is being carried out in the computer Structure and computer Architecture sub-module of the Degree in computer Management and Information systems Engineering of the University College of Engineering of Vitoria-Gasteiz, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The project is based on the active learning, more specifically, on cooperative learning. In this paper we have given deeper insight the dependencies between all the subjects belonging to the analyzed sub-module, which is composed of two subjects named computer Structure and computer Architecture. We have included in such analysis a previous subject named Principles of Digital systems Design, which does not belong to that sub-module, but plays an important role in the acquisition of the knowledge and competencies of the two previously referenced subjects.

This is a milestone paper of the Coordinating Committee on Manufacturing and Logistics systems (CC5) of the International Federation of Automatic control (IFAC). Classical applications of control engineering and information and communication technology (ICT) in production and logistics are often done in a rigid, centralized and hierarchical way. These inflexible approaches are typically not able to cope with the complexities of the manufacturing environment, such as the instabilities, uncertainties and abrupt changes caused by internal and external disturbances, or a large number and variety of interacting, interdependent elements. A paradigm shift, e.g., novel organizing principles and methods, is needed for supporting the interoperability of dynamic alliances of agile and networked systems. Several solution proposals argue that the future of manufacturing and logistics lies in network-like, dynamic, open and reconfigurable systems of cooperative autonomous entities. The paper overviews various distributed approaches and technologies of control engineering and ICT that can support the realization of cooperative structures from the resource level to the level of networked enterprises. Standard results as well as recent advances from control theory, through cooperative game theory, distributed machine learning to holonic systems, cooperative enterprise modelling, system integration, and autonomous logistics processes are surveyed. A special emphasis is put on the theoretical developments and industrial applications of Robustly Feasible Model Predictive control (RFMPC). Two case studies are also discussed: i) a holonic, PROSA-based approach to generate short-term forecasts for an additive manufacturing system by means of a delegate multi-agent system (D-MAS);and ii) an application of distributed RFMPC to a drinking water distribution system. © IFAC.

The paper discusses the hardware implementation of the quad sensor structure and the possibility to improve the noise characteristics of the structure when simultaneously sampling is accomplished. The histograms of the linear and angular accelerations are given to proof the theory of the structure, published in our previous paper. This structure may be manufactured as a single MEMS inertial sensor with better noise parameters.

Location management (LM) is how to find a mobile terminal (MT) current location on the move. Location update (LU) and paging must be maintained efficiently to minimize location management cost in personal communication service networks (PCS networks). In this paper we introduce a new location update and paging techniques, the location update is concerned with location tracking which is based on geographical position of the mobile terminal with time aspects. The locations are saved in the mobile cache in means of cell ID and time interval, the tracking process is totally managed by the MT's current visitor location register (VLR), the location data is transferred from the mobile cache to the VLR when the mobile terminal crosses a pre-defined number of cells, or when a pre-defined number of time intervals is reached. The paging is done according to probability of existence for the mobile terminal to the location data saved in VLR. The proposed techniques in this paper reduce location management cost compared to existed location management methods.

This paper revisits the synchronisation problem for second-order multi-agent systems(MASs)under dynamically changing communication *** employing the reference model-based synchronisation algorithm,it is finally shown that synchronisation for both the position and velocity states can be achieved if the union of the communication topologies has a directed spanning tree frequently *** extends the existing results obtained for second-order MASs which exploits mild communication topology condition guaranteeing the synchronisation to a more general *** analysis is successfully performed by exploiting the product properties of row-stochastic matrices,which can also provide us with an estimate the convergence rate towards the synchronisation.
