This paper addresses the dissolved oxygen tracking problem in multi-zone bioreactor. The proposed approach utilizes decentralized control system incorporating fuzzy multiregional PI controllers so that satisfactory controller performance can be robustly and reliably achieved over a whole process operating range. A fuzzy supervisor of the completely decentralized control system is introduced in order to meet a global actuator capacity constraint. An overall control system can be implemented by using fairly standard equipment that is commonly available at a plant site.

Since data sharing mechanism between the various business systems lacks of specification and standardization, information shares hardly and data exchange are inefficient, the paper proposes a data exchange platform for power enterprise based on ESB, which is based on SOA architecture, unified data exchange standards by using XML, used SOAP/HTTP(S) as the data transfer protocol between business systems and services bus and used Web Services as the business system data exchange standard interface. BEA ALSB service bus provides data exchange services for registration, release, information, routing and other functions. Practice has proved that the platform has good flexibility and scalability and can meet the business enterprise system between all kinds of complex data exchange requirements.

This paper investigates dynamic stability and control design of modern electric energy systems as many MW-scale distributed generators (DG) of various types are deployed in the distribution side of electric systems. The paper is mainly concerned about small-signal frequency stability of distribution systems with decentralized or centralized controlsystems. The Gerschgorin Circle Theory and Hicks Stability Theory are used for verifying sufficient conditions for small-signal stability. The paper also discusses about designing advanced enhancing robustness methods to ensure both safety and stability of modern distribution systems. Finally, the paper closes with a discussion of policies needed to support large penetration of DG units in distribution systems to ensure safety and robustness of the system.

The article presents a program decision that is intended to assist engineers and medical specialists to design and apply electromagnetic devices for therapeutic purposes. The suggested approach for the problem solving is non-trivial because it combines the power of the existing graphics package with the possibilities of a new code for electromagnetic calculations. The presented program decision demonstrates precise numerical results complemented by an understandable and attractive graphical representation. The implemented approach allows a high level of interaction during the whole process that includes: selection of a 3D model of human body part, creation and positioning of field sources, calculation and visualization of the summary field.

Mobile computing has experienced a rapid growth and there are nowadays many applications being developed. According to the literature, many of these applications are designed for collaborative work or learning and share the same requirements: they implement a peer-to-peer communication architecture, there are subgroups inside the group of participants which have to work together and coordinate with the rest of the groups and they need to implement a proper human-computer interaction paradigm since they have a reduced area to interact with the application's interface. It is then quite natural to think about the development of a framework supporting this kind of applications. In this paper we present such a framework and an example of its application.

Steel making is known as a complex manufacturing industrial process. Automation of the process represents a challenge. Empirical mathematical modeling of the process was used to design mill equipment, ensure productivity and service quality. This modeling approach shows many problems associated to complexity and time consumption. Soft computing techniques show significant modeling capabilities on handling complex nonlinear systems modeling. In this paper, we explore the use of Takagi-Sugeno (TS) technique to develop fuzzy models for the Hot-Rolling industrial nonlinear process. We propose three models for the rolling force, torque and slab temperature. A set of rules and membership functions which represents the dynamical relationship between the input and output of these models shall be presented. The performance of the fuzzy models will be compared to the known empirical models for the hot rolling system. Experimental data measured from the Ere˜gli Iron and Steel Factory in Turkey shall be used for the verification of the model outstanding performance.
