This paper aims to obtain a baseline snapshot of Project Management processes using a two-phase questionnaire to identify both performed and nonperformed practices. The proposed questionnaire is based on the Level 2 process areas of the Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development v1.2. It is expected that the application of the questionnaire to the processes will help small and medium software enterprises to identify those practices which are performed but not documented, which practices need more attention, and which are not implemented due to bad management or unawareness. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

Optimization problem relates to finding the best solution from all feasible solutions. Over the last 30 years, many meta-heuristic algorithms have been developed in the literature including that of Simulated Annealing (SA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Harmony Search Algorithm (HS) to name a few. In order to help engineers make a sound decision on the selection amongst the best meta-heuristic algorithms for the problem at hand, there is a need to assess the performance of each algorithm against common case studies. Owing to the fact that they are new and much of their relative performance are still unknown (as compared to other established meta-heuristic algorithms), Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFO) and Bat Algorithm (BA) have been adopted for comparison using the 12 selected benchmark functions. In order to ensure fair comparison, both BFO and BA are implemented using the same data structure and the same language and running in the same platform (i.e. Microsoft Visual C# *** Framework 4.5). We found that BFO gives more accurate solution as compared to BA (with the same number of iterations). However, BA exhibits faster convergence rate. © 2014 IEEE.

Bidirectional attentional mechanism for Arabic chatbot

A chatbot is an intelligent agent that developed based on Natural language processing (NLP) to interact with people in a natural language. The development of multiple deep NLP models has allowed for the creation of a vector representation of words and sentences that captures meaning in context. In this paper, a generative Arabic chatbot is trained with the Sequence to Sequence (Seq2Seq) model based on encoder-decoder architecture. It utilizes both the bi-directional encoder types of Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). The chatbot was trained using preprocessed dataset of 12 k conversations that were translated from English to Arabic. An attention layer was provided to the RNNs to focus on the important data between the input and output sequences. The obtained results showed that the proposed chatbot performed well with long sentences and elicited positive responses. In addition to that BiLSTM with attention performs better than BiGRU without attention. In the field of image-based drug discovery, capturing the phenotypic response of cells to various drug treatments and perturbations is a crucial step. This process involves transforming high-throughput cellular images into quantitative representations for downstream analysis. However, existing methods require computationally extensive and complex multi-step procedures, which can introduce inefficiencies, limit generalizability, and increase potential errors. To address these challenges, we present PhenoProfiler, an innovative model designed to efficiently and effectively extract morphological representations, enabling the elucidation of phenotypic changes induced by treatments. PhenoProfiler is designed as an end-to-end tool that processes whole-slide multi-channel images directly into low-dimensional quantitative representations, eliminating the extensive computational steps required by existing methods. It also includes a multi-objective learning module to enhance robustness, accuracy, and generalization in morphological representation learning. PhenoProfiler is rigorously evaluated on large-scale publicly available datasets, including over 230,000 whole-slide multi-channel images in end-to-end scenarios and more than 8.42 million single-cell images in non-end-to-end settings. Across these benchmarks, PhenoProfiler consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods by up to 20%, demonstrating substantial improvements in both accuracy and robustness. Furthermore, PhenoProfiler uses a tailored phenotype correction strategy to emphasize relative phenotypic changes under treatments, facilitating the detection of biologically meaningful signals. UMAP visualizations of treatment profiles demonstrate PhenoProfiler’s ability to effectively cluster treatments with similar biological annotations, thereby enhancing interpretability. These findings establish PhenoProfiler as a scalable, generalizable, and robust tool for phenotypic learning, offering transformative advancement

In blockchain networks, transactions can be transmitted through channels. The existing transmission methods depend on their routing information. If a node randomly chooses a channel to transmit a transaction, the transmission may be aborted due to insufficient funds(also called balance) or a low transmission rate. To increase the success rate and reduce transmission delay across all transactions, this work proposes a transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative game *** balance, channel states, and transmission probability are fully considered. This work then presents an optimized channel transaction transmission algorithm. First, channel balances are analyzed and suitable channels are selected if their balance is sufficient. Second, a Nash equilibrium point is found by using an iterative sub-gradient method and its related channels are then used to transmit transactions. The proposed method is compared with two state-of-the-art approaches: Silent Whispers and Speedy Murmurs. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves transmission success rate, reduces transmission delay,and effectively decreases transmission overhead in comparison with its two competitive peers.

This paper presents an integration of a model-based methodology for embedded real-time software with MARTE. However, although has being introduced as a new profile to overcome problem in previous profile, a sound and systematic methodology is necessary to tackle complexity problem that arise. The objective of this paper is to propose an integration of profile and method for satisfying embedded real-time software requirements and helping engineers to model their system, enhancing the structure and behavior modeling. For that, this paper describes a proposed methodology for the integration process, involving two elements: a profile and a method. The integration result will support to solve complexity whereby the profile is used to solve the lack of specific modeling language notation for embedded real-time system and the method can provide a systematical software process. The proposed integration component model is applied on a case study to show its enhancements. © 2011 IEEE.

Background: One of the state-of-the-art techniques for question answering frameworks is using linked data by converting the user input into SPARQL which is the query language for linked data. Objective: The main target is to emphasize the most fundamental issues while developing a question answering frameworks that accept input in natural language and converting it into SPARQL. Methods: The trend of applying linked data as a data source is gaining popularity among the re-searchers. In this study, question answering frameworks that combine both natural language processing techniques and linked data technologies are examined. Common principles of examined question answering frameworks recognize user intention, enriching natural language input and converting it to a SPARQL query. Results: 9 studies are selected for further examination to be compared by using selection criteria de-fined in the research methodology. Conclusion: Resulting outcomes are represented and compared in detail. In addition to the comparative review of systems, a general architecture of question answering frameworks on the linked data is drawn as an outcome of this study to provide a guideline for the researchers who are studying related research fields. © 2021 Bentham Science Publishers.

Automated Toll Collection System (ATCS) is one of the technologies to fulfill the Intelligent Transportation System's (ITS) aim in providing an efficient road and transportation infrastructure at the expressway. This paper is aimed to provide an accurate and efficient ATCS based on a vehicle type classification method rather than the current implementation of toll collection that rely on sensor-based and human observation. To fulfill the aim, we proposed to implement SF-CNNLS framework to extract vehicle's features and classify it into class 1 (passenger vehicle), class 2 (lorry) and class 4 (taxi). This ATCS is aimed to enhance the efficiency of the toll collection in Malaysia. The biggest challenge in this research is how to discriminate features of class 4 as a different class of class 1 since both classes have almost identical features. However, with our proposed method, we able to classify the vehicle with the average accuracy of 90.83 %. We tested our method using a frontal view of a vehicle from the self-obtained database (SPINT) taken using mounted-camera at the toll booth and compare the classification performance with a benchmark database named BIT. © 2018 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Currently, the complexity of embedded software is increased, hence, more efficient design approaches are demanded. Although component based design is well-defined for developing Embedded Real Time (ERT) systems, the design and implementation of ERT component software is slow and complex. Distributed ERT systems can reduce the complexity of a component and increase its reliability and re-usability as well. Currently, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an excellent technology for the implementation of distributed software. Some platforms are introduced to implement the components in SOA concept such as Service Component Architecture (SCA) and OSGI (Open Services Gateway Initiative). SCA provides a hierarchical component composition, distributed configurations and an interconnection with various means to design and combine services. However, SCA is unable to discover and reference services dynamically. In contrast, OSGI focuses on loading the service component. The services can be stopped, loaded and unloaded in frameworks supported by OSGI. Hence, this paper proposes an integration of SCA and OSGI to introduce a new framework for the implementation of distributed ERT systems. © 2012 IEEE.
