Unified Modelling Language (UML) has been conferred as the de facto standard in modeling by majority in the software system development community. Among the various types of diagrams that exist under the umbrella of UML is Sequence Diagram. Sequence Diagrams are capable of modeling interactional behaviours as well as dynamic happenings in a system, and as such are generally used in the modeling of complex software systems. However in this paper, Sequence Diagrams are used in the modeling of the IEEE 802.11 Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol. The Sequence Diagram representing this protocol will then be used for formal, mathematical analysis by first transforming the Sequence Diagram through the MDA model transformation tool called SD2PN, and performing analysis such as liveness analysis, boundedness analysis and reach ability analysis of the resulting Petri Net. © 2012 IEEE.

Context: Model-driven code generation is being increasingly applied to enhance software development from perspectives of maintainability, extensibility and reusability. However, aspect-oriented code generation from models is an area that is currently underdeveloped. Objective: In this study we provide a survey of existing research on aspect-oriented modeling and code generation to discover current work and identify needs for future research. Method: A systematic mapping study was performed to find relevant studies. Classification schemes have been defined and the 65 selected primary studies have been classified on the basis of research focus, contribution type and research type. Results: The papers of solution proposal research type are in a majority. All together aspect-oriented modeling appears being the most focused area divided into modeling notations and process (36%) and model composition and interaction management (26%). The majority of contributions are methods. Conclusion: Aspect-oriented modeling and composition mechanisms have been significantly discussed in existing literature while more research is needed in the area of model-driven code generation. Furthermore, we have observed that previous research has frequently focused on proposing solutions and thus there is need for research that validates and evaluates the existing proposals in order to provide firm foundations for aspect-oriented model-driven code generation. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. Pairwise strategies have tested effectively a range of software and hardware systems. These testing strategies offer solutions that can substitute exhaustive testing. In simple terms, a pairwise testing strategy significantly minimizes large input parameter values (or configuration options) of a system into a smaller set based on pairwise interaction (or combination). Fuzzy Adaptive Teaching Learning-based Optimization (ATLBO) algorithm is an improved form of Teaching Learning-based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm. ATLBO employs Mamdani fuzzy inference system to select adaptively either teacher phase or learner phase based on performance instead of blind sequential application as in original TLBO. In this paper, two pairwise testing strategies based on ATLBO and TLBO are proposed. Experimental results suggest that the proposed strategies are capable to be part of testers' toolkit as they outperformed competing meta-heuristic based pairwise testing strategies and tools on many pairwise benchmarks. Moreover, ATLBO based strategy generated optimal pairwise test suites than the one based on TLBO. © 2017 IEEE.

Decision Support systems (DSS) are computer programs that aid users in a problem solving or decision-making environment. DSS contains decision making information and other related data that may be of interest to unscrupulous competitors and stakeholders. Therefore, a DSS that is developed for web-based environment has to be secured from unauthorized access or malicious attacks. This study describes a framework of a secured DSS suitable to support decision making activities. Security issues are discussed from various perspectives with the proposed mechanisms to ensure a secured DSS implementation in distributed environment. Issues in web-based application development that include data growth, system performance and appearance compatibility are also presented together with their proposed solutions. Considering security and development issues could contribute towards successful implementation in the decision making process. © 2012 Asian Network for Scientific Information.

Nowadays, smartphones became an integral part of human life due to the great necessity for their daily activities. Most smartphone users are downloading and installing mobile apps without worrying about security. Therefore, smartphones are a winning goal for malware, mainly with Android devices. So, it was necessary to provide an intelligent model for detecting malware applications before installing them on android smartphones. In this paper, an intelligent model using machine learning algorithms is proposed for detecting the malware applications in smartphones based on the static malware analysis technique. The contents of an android application features are analyzed, such as permissions, intents, system commands, and API-calls that were extracted from the application manifest file and source code. The proposed model is applied on two separate datasets DREBIN and MALGENOME. The experimental results are compared with some other similar researches, and their results were analyzed. The results indicate that the performance of the proposed model outperforms other similar models for some selected classifiers and can reliably detect both malware and benign Android applications with high accuracy. © 2021 IEEE.

Robust steganographic approach using generative adversarial network and compressive autoencoder

Nowadays, social media applications and websites have become a crucial part of people’s lives;for sharing their moments, contacting their families and friends, or even for their jobs. However, the fact that these valuable data are transferred via the Internet and open channels, which are vulnerable to attacks and espionage, requires using defense methods to improve the security of data transmission. Recently, the progress of Deep Learning (DL) inspired researchers to use it with security methods such as steganography, the art of hiding secret data in unrelated content. DL and steganography combined enhanced the hiding properties, especially in the Coverless Image Steganography (CIS) methods. In this paper, we propose a Compressive Coverless Image Steganography (CCIS) model, which is a generated-based CIS, to improve the capacity and robustness of Steganography. This model uses the compressive autoencoder to compress the message, thus increasing the capacity, and uses the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to generate a stego image from the compressed vector, thus enhancing concealment ability, besides using a regression model and optimization method to extract the data. Another version was designed to enable sending binary messages by replacing the compressive autoencoder network with a robust mapping rule. Experiments show that the proposed model could improve the characteristics of Steganography. Furthermore, the proposed model could extract binary messages with 256 bits from attacked stego images with 99% recovery accuracy. Thus, capacity and robustness were enhanced using our model with both images and text as secret messages. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Formal Methods are very hard subject to student. It offered to second semester for third year software engineering student. Students normally feel very difficult to derive formal specification from informal requirement. In this paper, we propose an approach to derive formal specifications from informal requirement using Venn diagram for creating formal specification. We show how to convert the Venn diagram to formal specification which is important part during development of Z schema. Then we do analysis of student result of a group of student. With this approach student will easier to understand the operation of the system during Z schema development. ©2010 IEEE.

The analysis using Social Network Analysis (SNA) is focusing more on the number or the frequency of social interactions based on adjacency matrix. This method cannot be used to observe the semantic relationship among e-Learning components. Therefore, this paper aims to propose a new paradigm of Social Network Analysis (SNA) using ontology structure of Moodle e-Learning. By considering the relationship of ontology, we can understand the meaning of semantic relationship more deeply. The ontology of Moodle e-learning system for social network analysis will become great advantage to make measurement not only based on the matrix or number of interactions but also based on the semantic meaning of the relationships among users. © 2011 IEEE.

The trade-off between the imperceptibility and robustness is one of the most challenges in digital watermarking system. To solve the problem, a digital image watermarking implementation of evolutionary algorithm in the discrete wavelet domain is presented. In the proposed scheme, the watermark is embedded in the vertical subband (HLm ) coefficients in wavelet domain. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization is performed to train scaling factors to accomplish maximum the watermark strength while decrease the visual distortion. From experimental results, it demonstrates the robustness and the superiority of the proposed hybrid scheme. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.

This paper proposes a novel geometrically invariant watermarking scheme based on Hessian-Laplace detector and Bessel-Fourier moments. Firstly, Hessian-Laplace detector is adopted to extract feature points. Then, non-overlapped disks centered at feature points are generated. These disks are normalized for the invariance to rotation, scaling and translation distortions. Finally, the watermark is embedded in magnitudes of Bessel-Fourier moments of each disk via dither modulation to realize the robustness to common image processing operations and de-synchronization attacks. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed watermarking procedure has the superior and remarkable performance in imperceptibility and robustness to various attacks. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
