We have solved the problem of substantiating the choice of the sampling interval of the temporal series of the technological process parameter measurements for automation systems, if there are errors, which takes into account the frequency characteristics of this series. The object of the study is the measuring channel of ACS TP (automated control systems of technological processes). We have developed the mathematical simulation model of the measuring channel and the analog-to-digital converter, which provides the possibility of studying the influence of the sampling interval value of the temporal series of technological process parameter measurements on the reliability of the information. The results of the research of the model show the effectiveness of the model developed.

Since proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers absolutely dominate the control engineering, numbers of different control structures and theories have been developed to enhance the effciency of PID controllers. Thus, it is essential and inspiring to operate different PID control strategies to the PID2018 Benchmark Challenge. In this paper, a novel control strategy is designed for this refrigeration system, where a feedforward compensator and a conditional integrator are utilized to compensate the disturbances and remove the steady-state error in the benchmark problem, respectively. The simulation results given in the benchmark problem show the straightforward effectiveness of the proposed control structure compared with the existing control methods. Head phantoms for electroencephalography and transcranial electric stimulation: A skull material study

Physical head phantoms allow assessing source reconstruction procedures in electroencephalography and electrical stimulation profiles during transcranial electric stimulation. Volume conduction in the head is strongly influenced by the skull representing the main conductivity barrier. Realistic modeling of its characteristics is thus important for phantom development. In the present study, we proposed plastic clay as a material for modeling the skull in phantoms. We analyzed five clay types varying in granularity and fractions of fireclay, each with firing temperatures from 550 °C to 950 °C. We investigated the conductivity of standardized clay samples when immersed in a 0.9 % sodium chloride solution with time-resolved four-point impedance measurements. To test the reusability of the clay model, these measurements were repeated after cleaning the samples by rinsing in deionized water for 5 h. We found time-dependent impedance changes for approximately 5 min after immersion in the solution. Thereafter, the conductivities stabilized between 0.0716 S/m and 0.0224 S/m depending on clay type and firing temperatures. The reproducibility of the measurement results proved the effectiveness of the rinsing procedure. Clay provides formability, is permeable for ions, can be adjusted in conductivity value and is thus suitable for the skull modeling in phantoms. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Regarding the infrastructure planning in waste management, the future situation in the Czech Republic or in some other waste developing countries is unknown due to the undecided support from the government or the EU. Furthermore, the production of waste depends on many factors (e.g. separation rate) that are uncertain. The level of recycling will be influenced by technical progress while taking into account the compromise between maximum waste material recovery and the economic impact of the process. Nevertheless, it is important to plan the transportation infrastructure that will be able to support the realization of future projects/development. Such a feature might be the transfer station grid, which can decrease the total transportation costs/impact on the environment. The grid design should be robust with respect to all the possible technological solutions (establishment of waste treatment facilities). In this paper, the mathematical model for grid design of transfer stations is proposed. The model will be presented as a two-stage mixed-integer stochastic programming problem. The model will be tested through a case study on the current situation and possible legislation changes regarding waste management in the Czech Republic. The model scale will be on the micro-regional level proposing a robust transfer station grid design. The realization of these projects takes into consideration possible investments and decides about the capacity of the facility with regards to future government support and donations. The output in the form of recommendation will serve possible investors, municipalities and/or stakeholders from the field of waste management to plan more sustainable projects. In the present paper, some computer programs are roughly described which are used in didactics of the subjects related to graph theory. The programs are dedicated to the following problems: searching-DFS and BFS, bi-criteria TSP, drawing self-complementary graphs as well as checking their isomorphism. The advanatge consists in visualisation of particular problems. Standard packages for graph drawing were also been utilized.

The design of spacecraft docking missions using multibody simulations needs to be complemented by Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verification test using real docking hardware. While docking simulation is challenged by use of representative contact dynamic models, the HIL testing is challenged by proper contact force inclusion to the microgravity motion simulation of the free-floating docking spacecraft. Existing docking HIL simulators mostly use compliance devices to reduce impact forces, which changes the actual contact force. In the current paper, we investigate HIL setup for small satellites docking which requires fast and precise HIL closed loop contact simulation without artificial compliance. A nonlinear contact model has been selected out of nine different contact models to simulate more realistic contact dynamics. We study and analyze a 1DoF HIL testbed for contact dynamics validation, as well as HIL testbed stability analysis verification. Actuator modeling has also been included. Finally, the preliminary actuator requirements of the HIL testbed are defined. The results will be used for follow-on design and realization of a HIL testbed at Technical University of Dresden in cooperation with Airbus Defence and Space, Friedrichshafen, Germany. © 2017, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. With increasing the environmental concerns and fuel prices of the power industry, the optimal utilization of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems has become one of the essential subjects in power systems. Different artificial intelligence methods are used for optimization of CHP operation. Cultural Algorithm (CA) is based on some theories originated in archaeology and sociology which try to model cultural evolution. The basic disadvantage of the original culture algorithm is the fact that, it can’t give better optimal solution rather than most of other artificial intelligent methods. In this paper an iterative cultural algorithm is proposed to solve Combined Heat And Power Economic Dispatch (CHPED) problem. The effect of valve-point that make the CHPED problem as a non-convex issue is considered in the cost function and formulated in the conventional polynomial cost function as an absolute sinusoidal term. The proposed method is applied to three small (with three different test cases), medium and large test systems in order to evaluate its efficiency and feasibility. From obtained results, it is seen that proposed method converged to a better and feasible solution in all cases in comparison with some recently published papers. © 2017 CSREA Press. Relation Model of Burden Operation and State Variables of Blast Furnace Based on Low Frequency Feature Extraction*

In the blast furnace ironmaking process, the running state of the blast furnace can be directly adjusted by the burden operation. Therefore, the explicit relation between the burden operation and the running state variables is vital for the blast furnace operators. However, the state variables of the blast furnace are affected by many factors and the burden matrix is complicated. In this paper, a support vector regression(SVR) predicting model based on low frequency feature extraction is proposed to solve these problems. First, the low frequency components of state variables time series which are mostly affected by the burden operation are extracted. Then, the dimensions of the burden matrix are reduced by a devised simple expression method. Finally, the relation model based on SVR is proposed to predict the values of the expected state variables according to the simplified burden matrix and the value of initial state variables. The simulation on real factory data indicates that the model reflects the accurate quantitative relation between the burden operation and the state variables. © 2017
