Modern life in cities leads to complex urban traffic road and, sometimes, to go from one point to another, in a city, is a hard and very complex task. The use of assisted systems for helping drivers on their task of reaching the desired destination is being common, mainly systems like GPS location systems or other similar systems. The main gap of those systems is that they are not able to assist drivers when some unexpected changes occur, like accidents, or another unexpected situations. In this context, it would be desirable to have a dynamic system to inform the drivers, about everything that is happening "online". This work is inserted in this context and the work presented here is one part of a bigger project that has, as main goal, to be a dynamic system for assisting drivers under hard conditions of urban road traffic. In this paper is modeled, and formally analyzed, the intersection of four street segments, in order to take some considerations about this subject. This paper presents the model of the considered system, using timed automata formalism. The validation and verification of the road traffic model it is realized using UPPAAL model-checker.

One of the most widespread techniques to evaluate various aspects of a manufacturing system is discrete-event simulation (DES). However, building a simulation model of a manufacturing system is a difficult task and needs great resource expenditures. Automated data collection and model buildup can drastically reduce the time of the design phase as well as support model reusability. Since most of the manufacturing systems are controlled by low level controllers (e.g., PLCs, CNCs) they inherently store structure and control logic of the system to be modeled by a DES system. The paper introduces an ongoing research of PLC code processing method for automatic ISA standard simulation model generation of a conveyor system of a leading automotive factory. Results of the validation process and simulation experiments are also described through a case study.

Injecting drug users (IDUs) sharing syringes is an important mode of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) transmission. Intervention Measures such as free syringe exchange programs,voluntary counseling and HIV testing, free antiretroviral treatment (ART) and changes in the number of the total group play an important role in HIV transmission dynamics and success of prevention. This paper presents a complex agent network model for simulating the interaction and evolution of IDUs individual behaviors, IDUs networks and HIV prevention interventions. In the model, the number of the total group changes over time and each individual agent on network has his own specified information and rules to react to HIV prevention interventions. Exploratory simulation results are consistent with empirical studies demonstrating that the effectiveness of a combination of interventions, including free syringe exchange programs,voluntary counseling and HIV testing and ART during changing the number of the total group over time . Our model can be used to identify potential collective benefits of combination prevention interventions for HIV transmission.

Since London opens the first metro in 1863, more than 100 cities have opened metro around the world, and the total metro lines have increased to more than 6000 km. The metro control system also has been greatly developed, especially in the field of its new technologies, such as automatic driving and automatic control. With the popularity of the metro, railway traffic related technical personnel's demand also increases. In the light of the metro operation equipments expensive and the particularity of the metro system, using the metro equipments to train technical personnel is not feasible. In this paper, a simulation driving system that we developed is introduced in order to display its features, system framework and technical route. The implementation of this system, especially the part of the three-dimensional scene, is mainly depending on reality technology. After finishing the simulated driving function, this system which has been put in use realizes the training function.

The aim of this paper is to dress up a guideline to choose a suitable forecasting technique with fuzzy logic support. First of all, the smart grids, framework for low-voltage networks with distributed energy from renewable energy sources, are presented with advantages, limitations and challenges. In the second part, a cross view of the forecasting problem is given in order to establish a common perception of it. In this way, forecasting approaches are studied from both the producers and consumers points of view. Finally, a guideline to choose a forecasting tool with fuzzy logic is given as a supporting tool for low-voltage with distributed energy generation networks capacity allocation and congestion management. With this "decision support tool" the energy market energy participants should allow a correct prediction of the available capacity of transmission lines and cross-border interconnections, so that it can be efficiently allocated to market actors.

This paper describes an open loop control approach with analog impedance feedback damping for quasistatic MEMS microscanners based on electrostatic comb transducers. The control task is determined by high dynamic input trajectory following in the presence of an extremely lightly damped mechanical mass-spring system with nonlinear electromechanical characteristics. The approach presented in this paper makes use of a model-based design approach resulting in a nonlinear adaptive prefilter for optimally preshaping of customized trajectory inputs. The open loop control is augmented by an easy to implement resistive analog impedance feedback scheme that introduces electromechanical damping and increases robustness against physical parameter uncertainties of the MEMS microscanner assembly. The paper outlines the underlying MEMS microscanner technology, it describes the mathematical model based on ANSYS computation, and it discusses in detail the proposed control concepts. Simulations and experimental results prove the applicability of the control approach.
