Continuing the paper (2013) the analogical modeling and the numerical simulation of a cascade PID control diagram from Fig. 1 is presented, containing two distributed parameters processes, each one modeled through an equation with partial derivatives of second order with two independent variables. Through the numerical integration, the method of the Matrix of Partial Derivatives of the State Vector (M pdx ) is used too, associated with approximating solutions. The unitary and systemized character of this method is highlighted, considered known from the previous papers. (2009, 2011, 2013). Like in the case of paper [1], a program of numerical simulation for the entire PID cascade control scheme was elaborated, resulting a more complete phenomenological interpretation of the obtained results and performances.

In this paper, a simple but effective method is proposed for image spectrum decomposition and denoising, due to the fact that the image cannot be decomposed flexibly in a transform domain. According to its spectrum distribution, the image decomposition is carried out by merging the corresponding filters of a uniform cosine-modulated filter bank, resulting 2D separable nonuniform filter banks. This method performs efficiently when the power spectrum of the image is distributed concentratedly. Moreover, if the image is corrupted by a narrow-band noise in the region where its power spectrum is low, the noise can be easily detected and removed by using the proposed idea of spectrum decomposition. A simulation of image Barbara is given to demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of achieving good performance in decomposing the power spectrum and removing the narrow-band noise involved.

This paper is based on a research project regarding the design and development of an Intelligent Haptic Robot-Glove (IHRG) for the rehabilitation of the patients that have a diagnosis of a cerebrovascular accident. The IHRG is an exoskeleton that supports the human hand and hand activities by using a control architecture for dexterous grasping and manipulation. This IHRG is a medical device that acts in parallel to a hand in order to compensate some lost function. A novel approach for the development of an exoskeleton assistive hand is considered, a “mechatronic approach” for the integration of the mechanical structure, the sensory, the actuation system and the virtual and control system.

This paper describes the transaction to generate and measure negative valued resistors, capacitors and inductors in Pspice simulation medium for an educational purpose. Negative circuit components are designed and their defining characteristics are produced. An op-amp based generic circuit is used for obtaining negative components. To extract characteristics, a charge-meter and a flux-meter are designed and utilized, in addition to the conventional meters (markers) in the Pspice environment. The numerical examples verify the relevant background theory and validate the designed meters, namely flux meter and charge meter, in simulation medium. The study of the paper have educational value in making clear the meaning of negative impedance by experimentation in a simulation medium, thus relating theory to practice and also exhibit that ORCAD Pspice is highly visual and effective for both understanding the mathematical theory underlying the circuits and performing measurements of flux and charge which are needed to obtain the characteristics of negative inductors and negative capacitors.

In this paper it is shown that an input strictly passive linear finite dimensional port-Hamiltonian controller exponentially stabilizes a large class of boundary control systems. This follows since the finite dimensional controller dissipates the energy flowing through the boundaries of the infinite dimensional system. The assumptions on the controller is that it is input strictly passive and that it is exponentially stable. The result is illustrated on the model of a boundary controlled DNA-manipulation process.

In this paper design and control of planar cable-driven parallel robots are studied in an experimental prospective. Since in this class of manipulators, cable tensionability conditions must be met, feedback control of such robots becomes more challenging than for conventional robots. To meet these conditions, internal force control structure is introduced and used in addition to a PID control scheme to ensure that all cables remain in tension. A robust PID controller is proposed for partial knowledge of the robot, to keep the tracking errors bounded. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is examined through experiments on K.N. Toosi planar cable-driven robot and it is shown that the proposed control structure is able to provide suitable performance in practice.
