The paper presents a collision mitigation method in which the aim is to stabilize the motion of the vehicle after a light impact has occurred. A yaw rate servo control based on the bicycle model is applied for control purposes. The collision is assumed to have been detected by a passive safety system, e.g., airbag sensors. The control system is activated by the monitoring signal. After the collision has occurred the motion of the vehicle and the operation of the control system are illustrated through CarSim simulation examples. Two control solutions are analyzed: in the first case active steering is used while in the second case steering is combined with differential braking. With the knowledge of certain vehicle parameters and the impact force and direction, post impact vehicle states (yaw rate, velocities, roll rate) can be analyzed. A sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the validity range of the vehicle model in the presence of uncertainties and different kinds of impact forces. Several software packages are used for the design and analysis of the controlled system. The control design is performed by using the Matlab/Simulink software and the verification of the designed controller is performed by using the CarSim software.

One of the most widespread techniques to evaluate various aspects of a manufacturing system is discrete-event simulation (DES). However, building a simulation model of a manufacturing system is a difficult task and needs great resource expenditures. Automated data collection and model buildup can drastically reduce the time of the design phase as well as support model reusability. Since most of the manufacturing systems are controlled by low level controllers (e.g., PLCs, CNCs) they store structure and control logic of the system to be modeled by a DES system. The paper introduces an ongoing research of PLC program processing method for automatic simulation model generation of a conveyor system of a leading automotive factory. Results of the validation process and simulation experiments are also described through a case study.

The approach takes simultaneously the advantages of Bayesian analysis theory and fuzzy theory to formulate the patients' state prediction problem mathematically in a sensible way. It is possible to design new signal feature extraction methods with high diagnostic efficiency and thus is possible to build an expert system for making accurate predictions regarding the physiological state of individuals.

This paper describes a decentralized approach to control the execution of a set of tasks for a network of heterogeneous robotic agents, i.e., agents with different sets of sensors and actuators. The proposed approach is based on a discrete-event modeling and control framework. The novelty is the full decoupling between the tasks modeling and their deployment. This implies an higher robustness to faults in the network of agents and a more systematic way for the task modeling regardless of the actual capability of the agents. A consensus-based mechanism is exploited in the control system to achieve coherence among the agents state and synchronize the agents action.

In this study, parallel connection of separate voltage sources has been realized using cuk converters. For this aim, output voltages of converters are measured continuously and then fixed to a reference value. The PWM signals which are required to control the converters and to sense the current and voltage signals are generated by an FPGA. Since the FPGA has parallel processing feature, voltage and current data of the system are measured at the same time. Thus, the converters are connected in parallel punctually and load sharing between them are provided in order to eliminate some undesired cases like unbalanced loading. In the system realized, two identical cuk converters are used. As cuk converters can operate both in buck and boost modes, output voltages are fixed to the reference voltage successfully, even though input voltages are low or high. Experimental results show that the system achieved operates with a reasonable efficiency ranging from 81% to 88%.
