High-dimensional expensive problems are often encountered in the design and optimization of complex robotic and automated systems and distributed computing systems, and they suffer from a time-consuming fitness evaluation process. It is extremely challenging and difficult to produce promising solutions in high-dimensional search space. This work proposes an evolutionary optimization framework with embedded autoencoders that effectively solve optimization problems with high-dimensional search spaces. Autoencoders provide strong dimension reduction and feature extraction abilities that compress a high-dimensional space to an informative low-dimensional one. Search operations are performed in a low-dimensional space, thereby guiding a whole population to converge to the optimal solution more efficiently. Multiple subpopulations coevolve iteratively in a distributed manner. One subpopulation is embedded by an autoencoder, and the other one is guided by a proposed Multi-swarm Gray wolf optimizer based on Genetic learning (MGG). Thus, the proposed multi-swarm framework is named Autoencoder-based MGG (AMGG). AMGG consists of three proposed strategies that well balance exploration and exploitation abilities, i.e., a Dynamic subgroup Number Strategy for reducing the number of subpopulations, a Subpopulation Reorganization Strategy for sharing useful information about each subpopulation, and a Purposeful Detection Strategy for jumping out of local optima and improving exploration ability. AMGG is compared with several widely used algorithms by using typical benchmark functions and a real-life optimization problem. Extensive experimental results prove that AMGG outperforms its peers in terms of search accuracy and convergence efficiency. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper describes the detailed implementation of synchronization controllers using operational amplifiers for the servo trainer modules manufactured by Feedback Instruments Inc. The existing curriculum provided along with these trainer modules lacks discussion and implementation on synchronization of servo systems. Synchronization of dynamical systems is of great significance and finds many applications in a diversity of disciplines. This work is directed to upgrade the curriculum of servo trainer modules with synchronization controllers such as proportional, proportional-integral, and state feedback controllers. Various plants’ states are read from the sensors on-board the servo trainers and provided to the controllers, which are implemented externally on breadboards. The controllers generate actuating signals which are fed to the servo trainer plants through the on-board motor amplifiers, thereby closing the feedback loop around the servo plants. The efficacy of the controllers is tested by exciting the master servo trainer system and recording the resulting master and slave servo trainer system trajectories through ESPIAL data acquisition software. It is experimentally found that the slave servo system follows the master servo system. In this way, synchronization of the master and slave servo plants is achieved. The proposed study will be a useful addition to the laboratory curriculum of linear control systems.

Adaptive Query Prompting for Multi-Domain Landmark Detection

Medical landmark detection is crucial in various medical imaging modalities and procedures. Although deep learning-based methods have achieve promising performance, they are mostly designed for specific anatomical regions or tasks. In this work, we propose a universal model for multi-domain landmark detection by leveraging transformer architecture and developing a prompting component, named as Adaptive Query Prompting (AQP). Instead of embedding additional modules in the backbone network, we design a separate module to generate prompts that can be effectively extended to any other transformer network. In our proposed AQP, prompts are learnable parameters maintained in a memory space called prompt pool. The central idea is to keep the backbone frozen and then optimize prompts to instruct the model inference process. Furthermore, we employ a lightweight decoder to decode landmarks from the extracted features, namely Light-MLD. Thanks to the lightweight nature of the decoder and AQP, we can handle multiple datasets by sharing the backbone encoder and then only perform partial parameter tuning without incurring much additional cost. It has the potential to be extended to more landmark detection tasks. We conduct experiments on three widely used X-ray datasets for different medical landmark detection tasks. Our proposed Light-MLD coupled with AQP achieves SOTA performance on many metrics even without the use of elaborate structural designs or complex frameworks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. In order to ensure the safe transmission of the brine pipeline, this paper designs a leakage detection terminal based on STM32F7. This terminal uses GPS to added time stamps to the collected data. And each distributed terminal uses second pulse signal of GPS to realize the function of synchronously collecting signals. Finally, the data is transmitted to the cloud computing platform through the 4G wireless transmission module system. This paper uses the S transform algorithm to analyze the characteristics of these transmitted data. S transform algorithm fully extracts the characteristics of the data in the time-frequency-mode domain. The simulation results show that the data generates high-frequency signals at default point. Through the whole system, it can effectively realize real-time monitoring. © 2020 IEEE.

nonlinear dynamic models is crucial for algorithms development for swarm robotics. However, existing platforms are mainly developed based on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and either use simple kinematic models to pursue a large number of simulating nodes or implement realistic dynamic models with limited simulating nodes. In this paper, we develop a simulator based on Data-Oriented Programming (DOP) that utilizes GPU parallel computing to achieve large-scale swarm robotic simulations. Specifically, we use a multi-process approach to simulate heterogeneous agents and leverage PyTorch with GPU to simulate homogeneous agents with a large number. We test our approach using a nonlinear quadrotor model and demonstrate that this DOP approach can maintain almost the same computational speed when quadrotors are less than 5,000. A better understanding of radio wave propagation under ducting condition could improve the maritime (naval and civil) and coastal communications. For that purpose, a detailed survey of the state of the atmosphere is carried out on two settlements located on the Black Sea coast. Based on that, a model for representing the modified refractive profile in altitude is developed. At the same time, the electromagnetic field strength is measured for three different radio frequencies propagated between them. The results showed more than one tropospheric ducts simultaneously at any different points and different effects over different radio frequencies. A clear relationship between absolute value of modified refractivity and the levels of received signals for the surveyed regions is observed. © 2020 IEEE.

Tunnel fissure water may induce geological disasters of mud bursting and collapse during the construction stage. Therefore, it is important to automatically extract and identify fissure water in front of the tunnel face for tunnel construction. The paper performs diffraction migration imaging of seismic data after P/S wave separation, and the imaging results reflect the three-dimensional distribution of undesirable geologic bodies. Second, based on the geologic bodies obtained above, ground-penetrating radar detection is added to identify alternative area of fissure water at the peak point of the A-scan. The boundary point of the alternative area of fissure water is located at the peak point where the phase of the reflected wave and the incident wave are reversed. Finally, the area with a larger amplitude and smaller frequency than the surrounding rock is screened as the target area among the alternative area, and the distribution of fissure water is labeled in the B-scan. The method is applied to the mileage section K38+440$\sim$+320 of Liangwangshan Tunnel in Yunnan, and the forecast results show that the rock bodies near the mileage section K38+440$\sim$+410, K38+410$\sim$+380, and K38+350$\sim$+320 is more fragmented, the fissure water is developed, and the target area is verified by excavation. © 2023, The Authors. The process of fish breeding is extensively applied in fish farms and it is influenced by either environmental factors (in case of natural reproduction) and by the use of exogenous hormones (in case of artificial reproduction). Reproducing some species under controlled conditions without hormonal preparations is not possible. Many hormonal agents have been previously described in the scientific literature as beneficial in the fish breeding process. The effectiveness of these agents varies. This paper reviews some of the basic hormonal substances and describes the results of artificial reproduction. The most frequently encountered substances that give the best results are: Carp pituitary homogenate (CPH), Ovopel and Ovaprim. It can be concluded that in order to ensure the success of reproduction, the doses applied are particularly important, as well as the way of administration of the agent. © 2022 IEEE.
