A fuzzy theoretic analytical approach was recently introduced that leads to efficient and robust models while addressing automatically the typical issues associated to parametric deep models. However, a formal conceptualization of the fuzzy theoretic analytical deep models is still not available. This paper introduces using measure theoretic basis the notion of membership-mapping for representing data points through attribute values (motivated by fuzzy theory). A property of the membership-mapping, that can be exploited for data representation learning, is of providing an interpolation on the given data points in the data space. An analytical approach to the variational learning of a membership-mappings based data representation model is considered. © 2021, CC BY.

The publication presents a global outline of the construction of the lower limb rehabilitation exoskeleton. The main focus was put on the structure of the exoskeleton’s ankle assembly cooperating with the patient’s ankle joint. Based on the geometrical properties of the assembly a three-dimensional model was developed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) for determining the stresses and displacements of components subjected to variable loads. In the FEM model, finite elements of the 3D-solid type and beam type were used. To determine the external loads an experiment was performed using a dynamometric platform by means which the ground reaction forces, excited by a patient wearing the exoskeleton, were measured. During testing and analysis, particular attention was focused to orthotropic ABS material components manufactured with 3D printing technology. The work contains partial data obtained from strength tests of samples manufactured by a 3D printer. The results of measured strength parameters that describe the mentioned orthotropy are implemented by defining a suitable material model in the FEM model of the tested assembly. As a result of the numerical calculations performed, the stress fields of individual elements of the assembly were obtained. The distribution of stresses depends on the relative position of patient’s foot relative to the ground, on the loads generated by driving modules and inertial forces. Based on these stress values their amplitude variation were determined which enabled selecting parts that met the requirements construction strength, durability and safety of use of rehabilitation exoskeleton. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

This paper presents a real-time power split strategy for a battery-supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system. The objective of the proposed strategy is to alleviate battery degradation through effective supercapacitor utilization. The proposed strategy employs an adaptive neural fuzzy inference system, which is capable of learning a power split strategy from offline optimization results and distributing power in real-time. The performance of the strategy proposed and a low pass filtering technique is compared through simulations. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively reduce battery capacity loss and perform well under unknown driving cycles in real time.

This paper considers the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints over a network of agents, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. Existing distributed online algorithms require that each agent broadcasts its decision to its neighbors at each iteration. To better utilize the limited communication resources, we propose a distributed event-triggered online primal-dual algorithm with two-point bandit feedback. Under several classes of appropriately chosen decreasing parameter sequences and non-increasing event-triggered threshold sequences, we establish dynamic network regret and network cumulative constraint violation bounds. These bounds are comparable to the results achieved by distributed event-triggered online algorithms with full-information feedback. Finally, a numerical example is provided to verify the theoretical results. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Software requirements are the need of the stakeholders which are identified during requirements elicitation process. There are different types of the software requirements like functional requirements, non-functional requirements, testing requirements, etc. After requirements elicitation process, a system may have hundreds or thousands of requirements;and during the development process it is not possible to implement all the software requirements because of the several limitations of an organization as well as the stakeholders. To develop the successful software product, the elicited software requirements must be prioritized before the development of software so that high ranked software requirements can be identified. Computation of the ranking values of the software requirements is a difficult task because it involves lot of computational steps like evaluation of software requirements, computation of group preferences from the individual preferences, computation of the ranking values after normalizing the preference matrices, etc. Among these steps, in this paper, we mainly focus on the evaluation of the software requirements using linguistic variables because in real life applications people use linguistic variables to specify their preferences on software requirements. The objective of this paper is to generate a dataset of 32 functional requirements after evaluating it on the basis of 3 non-functional requirements so that the generated dataset can be used as an input into the software requirements prioritization methods. The institute examination system is used as case study to explain the steps for the generation of the dataset. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, we study output consensus of coupled linear port-Hamiltonian systems on graphs in the presence of constant disturbances, where couplings are allowed to be both static and dynamic. Utilizing port-Hamiltonian structures, we present dynamic controllers achieving output consensus where the consensus values are determined by the disturbances. Finally, the utility of the proposed controller is illustrated by applying it to current sharing of DC microgrids.

Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used to model and design the software requirements. Among various components of UML, class diagram is employed to model the software requirements in terms of objects organized in classes and relationships between them. In real life applications, it has been observed that a system may have several requirements and it is not possible to model each and every requirement because of time, budget, and other constraints of an organization. Based on our review, we found that, in literature less attention is given to the modeling of the software requirements from the selected set of the requirements using UML class diagrams. Therefore, to address this issue, in this paper we present a method for modeling of the selected set of the software requirements using UML class diagrams. The applicability of the proposed method is discussed with the help of the software requirements of an institute examination system. © 2020 IEEE.

High Accurate Detection Method for Aortic Valve Opening of Seismocardiography Signals

Accurately detecting the aortic valve opening (AO) peaks of seismocardiography (SCG) is a challenging problem due to interference of other morphological inflection points. In this paper, a high accurate method is proposed to extract AO peaks based solely upon the SCG data. The raw SCG signal is purified by a first order interference cancellation method, resulting in a reduced number of modes to be decomposed. The purified SCG signal is then decomposed into a series of quasi-orthogonal modes by successive variational mode decomposition without any prior about the number of modes. Considering the pulsatile nature of the AO signal, a waveform factor criterion is proposed to reconstruct the AO signal based on the pulsatile level of each mode. A seventh power law detector is designed to amplify the AO peak and suppress spurious peaks. The publicly available CEBS database is exploited to verify the performance of the proposed method. We show that the average sensitivity of our technique is 99.02%, the prediction rate is 99.06%, and the detection accuracy is 98.10%, which is superior to several state-of-the-art methods. In addition, compared with the ECG reference value, the instantaneous heart rate extracted by the proposed method is in good agreement with that of the ECG, e.g., the maximum average absolute error percentage is as low as 2.11 and the maximum average value relative error is about 0.03, further demonstrating that the proposed method can achieve accurate estimates of heart rate with an accelerometer alone. © 2022, The Authors. Software requirements modeling (SRM) is a subprocess of requirements engineering (RE) which is used to elicit and represent the need of the stakeholders. Different systematic literature reviews (SLR) have been performed in different areas of RE like requirements elicitation, stakeholder identification, requirements prioritization, use case models, etc. Despite the availability of different SRM techniques, less attention is given to synthesize the existing SRM techniques in the context of the unified modeling language (UML) and goal oriented techniques like 'Knowledge Acquisition for Automated Specifications' (KAOS), I∗ framework, non-functional requirements (NFR) framework, and Tropos, etc. Therefore, to address this issue, in this paper we present the SLR by analysing the existing SRM techniques based on the following formulated research questions (RQs): (a) how UML and goal oriented techniques were evolved? (b) which modeling techniques are appropriate for modeling the NFRs? (c) what are the tools available for modeling the different types of the software requirements, i.e., functional and nonfunctional requirements? Search items were extracted from the RQs to identify the primary studies from the Journals, Conferences, Workshops, and Symposium. Our SLR has identified 56 distinct studies which have been published from 2008 to 2019. Selected studies were assessed according to the formulated RQs for their quality and coverage to specific SRM technique thus identifying some gaps in the literature. We observed that there is need to develop the SRM techniques for representing the different types of the NFRs;and also to strengthen the UML by integrating the NFRs and multi-criteria decision making techniques. © 2020 IEEE.

An Algebraic Method to Stabilize Large-Scale Boolean Networks via Pinning Control

As a discrete-time system, the dynamics of each gene node of Boolean networks (BNs) is determined by logical functions. This article aims to stabilize BNs globally through distributed pinning control. According to the existing literature, the state transition matrix-based pinning control strategy always suffers from high time complexity. The proposed approach, while likewise matrix-based, replaces the state transition matrix in favor of structure matrices based on the logical functions of each node and develops four computationally effective phases to solve the minimum set of controlled nodes and the corresponding pinning controllers, reducing the time complexity to O(2ξ), where ξ is a value determined by the specific network and the target state. The primary contribution is to provide a new method that eliminates time complexity as a barrier to matrix-based pinning control strategy by determining the index set of key nodes, particularly for sparse biological networks while preserving the benefits of matrix-based strategies. Finally, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control method, gene networks with different sizes are discussed as simulations. © 2013 IEEE.
