Regular expression search is widely used, including in databases. For example, the LIKE operator was included in the SQL standard about thirty years ago. However, the types of indexes commonly used in DBMS are extremely limited for speeding up regular expression search: most of these queries require a full scan of all data. One of the most interesting approaches to developing a specialized index is described in the article [1]. Its authors suggested using a certain subset of substrings of variable-length input data-multigrams-as index keys. In this article, we propose changes to the structure and algorithm for constructing such an index, which allows us to achieve two goals. First, the index becomes applicable to speed up a broader class of queries. Second, the proposed changes made it possible to update the index. We also developed and tested an algorithm for updating the index when inserting new records into the database. This algorithm allows you to get two orders of magnitude lower time for updating the index compared to its complete reconstruction. © 2020 ACM.

In industry, as well as in power plants and substations of developed countries, induction motor (IM) are the most common electrical machine. They consume a large amount of the generated electricity. At the same time, they account for a sufficient number of failures of all electrical equipment. In this case, the proportion of failures due to a break in a squirrel-cage rotor, according to various authors, can reach about 5-10%. However, experimental studies at a number of plants and power plants in the Pavlodar region have shown that the damage factor of the squirrel-cage IM rotor is much higher. As a rule, the breakage of the squirrel-cage rotor rods does not lead to an immediate failure of the IM, but is accompanied by a deterioration in its electromechanical characteristics. Basically, the harm from the operation of such IM is expressed in increased energy consumption. Moreover, a year of its operation leads to an excessive consumption of electricity, comparable to the cost of the IM itself. The article shows that today there are a large number of proposals for a method for diagnosing damage to the short-circuited rotor winding of an induction motor (IM) during operation. However, their sensitivity is limited by the need for detuning from fluctuations in the parameters of the electrical network, vibrations of the IM and the uneven moment of resistance of its load. Most of these effects can be eliminated if IM diagnostics are carried out based on the analysis of the EMF parameters in the stator winding in the rundown mode. The authors have analyzed the parameters of the EMF of the stator winding at all stages of the rundown mode and substantiated the use of the presented method for diagnosing faults in an induction motor.

Medical image segmentation is critical for diagnosing and treating spinal disorders. However, the presence of high noise, ambiguity, and uncertainty makes this task highly challenging. Factors such as unclear anatomical boundaries, interclass similarities, and irrational annotations contribute to this challenge. Achieving both accurate and diverse segmentation templates is essential to support radiologists in clinical practice. In recent years, denoising diffusion probabilistic modeling (DDPM) has emerged as a prominent research topic in computer vision. It has demonstrated effectiveness in various vision tasks, including image deblurring, super-resolution, anomaly detection, and even semantic representation generation at the pixel level. Despite the robustness of existing diffusion models in visual generation tasks, they still struggle with discrete masks and their various effects. To address the need for accurate and diverse spine medical image segmentation templates, we propose an end-to-end framework called VerseDiff-UNet, which leverages the denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DDPM). Our approach integrates the diffusion model into a standard U-shaped architecture. At each step, we combine the noise-added image with the labeled mask to guide the diffusion direction accurately towards the target region. Furthermore, to capture specific anatomical a priori information in medical images, we incorporate a shape a priori module. This module efficiently extracts structural semantic information from the input spine images. We evaluate our method on a single dataset of spine images acquired through X-ray imaging. Our results demonstrate that VerseDiff-UNet significantly outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy while preserving the natural features and variations of anatomy. In this paper, an autonomous Morse jerk oscillator which is designed by converting an autonomous two-dimensional Morse oscillator to a jerk oscillator, is analysed. The stability of its unique equilibrium point reveals the existence of Hopf bifurcation. Periodic and chaotic oscillations, antimonotonicity, chaotic bubbles and coexisting attractors are generated in the proposed jerk oscillator. Then, this proposed jerk oscillator is implemented in PSIM software and realized in a printed circuit board to verify the numerical results. The experimental/PSIM results agree well with the numerical simulations. Moreover, it is possible to control partially or totally the amplitude of its signals by introducing two additional parameters in the rate-equations describing the proposed jerk oscillator. Furthermore based on the Routh–Hurwitz conditions and using a single linear feedback controller, the proposed jerk oscillator is controlled to its unique equilibrium point. Finally, the coexistence between periodic and chaotic attractors is destroyed and controlled to a desired trajectory thank to the linear augmentation method. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Sociedad Española de Matemática Aplicada.

In this paper, we introduce an improved 32-bit color image encryption method using Four 1D chaotic maps that are Logistic map, Chebyshev map, Tent map, and Sine map. these maps were used to fill the four matrices of our encryption system with unique integers that are between 0 and 255. Each matrix has a size of arranged in a square. The four channels of a 32-bit color image are represented by these matrices (red, green, blue, and alpha). The upper-left and lower-right matrices are used to encrypt respectively the red and the alpha channels. The upper-right and lower-left matrices are used to encrypt respectively the green and the blue channels. For the confusion section, we apply the Arnold Cat Map transformation to shuffle all the pixels and change their position. Several safety criteria were used to evaluate the performance of our algorithm against common attacks and have shown excellent results. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In practical applications, commercial-grade Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) gyros tend to exhibit dynamics sensitivities which are resistant to modeling by linear drift. To address the problem, a new nonlinear robust bias observer (NRBO) is proposed in this paper. Unlike the existing attitude and gyro bias nonlinear observers, we propose a dynamics-sensitive gyro bias decomposition method to tackle unknown nonlinear dynamic models of MEMS gyro bias. We expose the potential advantages of the proposed method: the global asymptotic stability of the NBRO and the robustness to the bias instability of MEMS gyros can be guaranteed through a rational design of the attitude-angular rate nonlinear dynamic coupling (AARNDC) term and the attitude-linear coupling (ALC) term. In addition, the attitude estimation with bias correction is given in the framework of NBRO. The experiment of a cable-parallel robot demonstrate the robustness to the bias instability and the accuracy improvement of MEMS gyros. © 2022, CC BY.

Vision Transformers (ViTs) have recently demonstrated remarkable performance in computer vision tasks. However, their parameter-intensive nature and reliance on large amounts of data for effective performance have shifted the focus from traditional human-annotated labels to unsupervised learning and pretraining strategies that uncover hidden structures within the data. In response to this challenge, self-supervised learning (SSL) has emerged as a promising paradigm. SSL leverages inherent relationships within the data itself as a form of supervision, eliminating the need for manual labeling and offering a more scalable and resource-efficient alternative for model training. Given these advantages, it is imperative to explore the integration of SSL techniques with ViTs, particularly in scenarios with limited labeled data. Inspired by this evolving trend, this survey aims to systematically review SSL mechanisms tailored for ViTs. We propose a comprehensive taxonomy to classify SSL techniques based on their representations and pre-training tasks. Additionally, we discuss the motivations behind SSL, review prominent pre-training tasks, and highlight advancements and challenges in this field. Furthermore, we conduct a comparative analysis of various SSL methods designed for ViTs, evaluating their strengths, limitations, and applicability to different scenarios. Financial interval time series (ITS) is a time series whose value at each time step is an interval composed by the low and the high price of an asset. The low-high price range is related to the concept of volatility because it inherits intraday price variability. Accurate forecasting of price ranges is essential for derivative pricing, trading strategies, risk management, and portfolio allocation. This paper suggests a fuzzy rule-based approach to model and to forecast interval-valued time series. The model is a collection of functional fuzzy rules with affine consequents capable to express the nonlinear relationships encountered in interval-valued data. An application concerning one-step-ahead forecast of interval-valued EUR/USD exchange rate using actual data is also addressed. The forecast performance of the fuzzy rule-based model is compared to that of traditional econometric time series methods and alternative interval models employing statistical criteria for both, low and high exchange rate prices. The results show that fuzzy rule-based modeling approach developed in this paper outperforms the random walk, and other competitive approaches in out-of-sample interval-valued exchange rate forecasting. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Cloud computing attracts a growing number of organizations to deploy their applications in distributed data centers for low latency and cost-effectiveness. The growth of arriving instructions makes it challenging to minimize their energy cost and improve Quality of Service (QoS) of applications by optimizing resource provisioning and instruction scheduling. This work formulates a bi-objective constrained optimization problem, and solves it with a Simulated-annealing-based Adaptive Differential Evolution (SADE) algorithm to jointly minimize both energy cost and instruction response time. The minimal Manhattan distance method is adopted to obtain a knee for good tradeoff between energy cost minimization and QoS maximization. Real-life data-based experiments demonstrate SADE achieves lower instruction response time, and smaller energy cost than several state-of-the-art peers. © 2020 IEEE.
