Early and accurate disease detection in fruit is crucial for precision agriculture to improve yields and provide healthy crops. This research proposes a deep learning (DL) method based on VGG16 to detect fruit illnesses from high-resolution images. The method uses VGG16 architecture, which has been fine-tuned using massive image datasets, to detect fruit illnesses. The proposed technique takes images of fruits that have several prevalent illnesses and uses those images to extract deep characteristics that allow for accurate classification. This system accurately identifies illnesses, including apple scab, citrus greening, and bacterial spots, by combining a strong convolutional neural network (CNN). The dataset used to train and test the model to simulate real-world situations contains images of healthy and sick apples taken under different lighting circumstances. The evaluation of performance indicators, including recall, accuracy, precision, and F1-score, shows the model's efficiency and accuracy in illness detection. Reduced pesticide consumption and optimized resource allocation result from this automated detection system's ability to allow farmers to monitor crop health and make prompt choices continually. It provides a useful and scalable tool for managing diseases in modern precision agriculture. A DL model based on VGG16 was created for accurate fruit disease diagnosis in precision agriculture, with an accuracy of 96.5%, allowing early intervention to improve crop health and production sustainability. © 2025 IEEE.

A reflectarray designed by Random Hill Climbing (RHC) optimization process is demonstrated and simulated. On the basis of top layer effect on reflection phase and exploiting the relation between phase distribution and the direction of the reflected beam, six pixelated subcells are optimized for two incident angle waves simultaneously. The far field plot shows that for beams of incident angles 19.471° and 41.81° and in the precincts of them the reflectarray deflects the incident waves into reflections close to normal to the reflectarray surface. This shows a proximate independency of incident wave angle for the reflectarray in a certain angular range. The proposed cells provide 342° reflection phase range. Also, the reflection loss of the cell for the incident angles 19.471° and 41.81° are -1.9 dB and -1.4 dB, respectively. The pattern gain and fractional bandwidth for a finite reflectarray of size 300 λ x 150 λ are reported to be 19.44 dB and 25% for the incident angle 19.471°, and 19.17 dB and 30% for the incident angle 41.81°. © 2024 IEEE.

These days, spectrum insufficiency is the most common issue. If the number of smartphone users who access the radio spectrum grows, the radio spectrum becomes increasingly scarce. Certain types of technology equipment are designed to work only within a specific spectrum range, and there is rivalry in specifications for various other applications. As a result, this paper effectively exploits a licensed user’s unused spectrum to reduce the crowded spectrum and eradicate the Radio spectrum shortage. Licensed primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) would be accepted into a Fusion Centre (FC) based on a spectrum framework with authentication. The approved PUs begin by updating their information to FC1;thenceforth, encryption is performed on the information uploaded to FC1. This information from FC1 is stored in Cloud Storage after encryption using the Blowfish algorithm & De-oxy DNA, a fast encryption algorithm. Following that, FC2, connected to the same cloud environment, downloads the PU data uploaded. The spectrum is then allocated to the authenticated SU linked to FC2 based on signal conditions and priority. This proposed method also avoids any delay in the network and encryption by acquiring a fast encryption algorithm, making the system faster and avoiding the Primary User Emulation (PUE) attack. Later, the time taken for the Tiny Encryption Algorithm (TEA) and the Blowfish/DNA algorithm are compared to validate the run time for different input images. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Early diagnosis of crop plant disease is crucial since many of these diseases pose a considerable threat not only to global food security but also towards agricultural productivity. Aiming that, for detection of mungbean leaf diseases at the beginning stage, we introduce a novel approach based on Gabor Wavelet Transform (GWT) and Cubic SVM in this paper. We perform GWT to decompose the given images into eighteen directional sub-bands and then extract fusion of Gabor Wavelet (GW) based texture features from each detailed GWT coefficient sub-band. Finally, Cubic SVM was deployed to classify three different disease classes by using these GW based features, conducting cross validation at 10 fold. Outcomes of our experimental evaluation using our self-prepared dataset of mungbean leaf diseases exhibit that our proposed method yields overall a sensitivity of 91.11%, a specificity of 95.56%, a precision of 91.39% and an accuracy of 91.11%. Moreover, outcomes obtained from our comparative analysis confirm the supremacy of our proposed framework over 3 currently existing approaches. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

This paper presents an advanced optical sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) designed to detect hyperuricemia, characterized by elevated uric acid (UA) levels. The sensor features a stacked nanocomposite comprising gold-graphene quantum dots (GQD) biofunctionalized with uricase enzyme, ensuring high sensitivity and selectivity for UA detection over other potentially competing interferents like ascorbic acid, glucose, D-cystine, urea, and creatinine commonly found in biological samples. The developed sensor achieves an impressive sensitivity of 0.093°/(mg/dL) for UA at 12 mg/dL, significantly higher than the recorded sensitivity of 0.015°/(mg/dL) for all other potential interferents at the same concentration. This highlights the sensor’s exceptional precision in discerning UA. Moreover, the sensor demonstrates notable selectivity for UA even at low concentrations, registering a resonance angle shift of 0.371° at 0.5 mg/dL, compared to a lower angle shift of 0.185° for other interferents at higher concentrations of 12 mg/dL. These findings emphasize the sensor’s accuracy and rapid response in distinguishing UA, positioning it as a promising tool for early diagnosis and management of hyperuricemia in clinical settings, addressing a critical need for reliable and efficient UA detection.

In Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSN), minimizing packet drop is vital. Many strategies are proposed to manage the packet drops. Though, these strategies need to be more capable of handling the packet drops proficiently. This approach proposes a Packet Drop Reduction using Volunteer nodes (PDRV) in MWSN. Volunteer nodes aim to reduce packet drops and delays in the network. In this approach, the volunteer node listens to the discharge data packet and then allocates the transmitter node. These nodes are selected based on node linkage, energy, communication processing time, and bandwidth. In addition, PDRV verifies the hash signature with One Time Key (OTK) for transmitting secure data. Hence, it reduces both the packet drops and the delay. Here, the volunteer nodes are selected by the node ability. The node linkage. energy, communication processing time, and bandwidth evaluate node ability. Experimental outcomes illustrate that the PDRV mechanism has reduced the network delay and packet losses. © 2023 IEEE.

In the last few decades, metaheuristic algorithms that use the laws of nature have been used dramatically in numerous and complex optimization problems. The artificial hummingbird algorithm (AHA) is one of the metaheuristic algorithms that was invented in 2022 based on the foraging and migration behavior of the hummingbird for modeling and solving optimization problems. The algorithm initially starts with an initial random population of solutions. It then uses iterative processes and hummingbird position updates to balance exploration and exploitation toward the most optimal solutions. This paper has a detailed and extensive review of the AHA algorithm considering the aspects of hybrid, improved, binary, multi-objective, and optimization problems. In addition, a wide range of applications of AHA in various fields such as feature selection, image processing, scheduling, Internet of Things, classification, clustering, financial and economic issues, forecasting, wireless sensor networks, and many engineering challenges are explored. The statistical and numerical results showed that the AHA algorithm with deep learning methods, Levy flight, and opposition-based learning had the best performance.
