The assessment of an academic's performance is not solely based on the tangible results achieved. Nonetheless, the formation aspect of the Knowledge Management (KM) process, which arises in the pursuit of outcomes, must be acknowledged. This emphasizes the significance of KM process development for academics in achieving their essential responsibilities including teaching and learning, research and publishing, and community service. Consequently, it is essential to develop a KM model for assessing the accomplishments of academics in higher education. An evaluation of academic performance in higher education was conducted to identify the success factors of knowledge management, by considering five key elements viz, knowledge creation, knowledge acquisition, knowledge storage, knowledge sharing, and knowledge application. Accordingly, sixty-five sub-variables were identified as success model factors for evaluating academic knowledge management performance. A K-Means clustering method was utilized to assess the KM qualifications of academics at an Islamic public institution in Indonesia (University X) as the primary study. Herein, a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire was administered to 500 academics and subsequently categorized into three performance levels such as low, medium, and high performance. As a result, 140 academicians were categorized as low KM performance, 139 were clustered as medium qualification, and 221 academicians were positioned in high performance. Furthermore, a recommendation analysis is presented to elucidate the accomplishments of academic credentials for each cluster and propose corrective actions for enhancement. Therefore, the scholars at University X might enhance their knowledge management practices to get a superior quality university. © 2024 IEEE.

The concept of privacy-by-design has gained considerable attention in the wake of legal requirements that software systems should fulfill. The interconnected knowledge on privacy concepts, legal requirements, and software development artifacts required to implement this concept can be a major burden for organizations. To address this challenge, we propose a knowledge graph-based Exploratory Search system to help organizations complete privacy engineering tasks. We identify major requirements of such systems and develop an Exploratory Search prototype built on privacy engineering knowledge that integrates different information sources. While still preliminary, this work serves as a foundation for future research on integrating privacy knowledge into software development and demonstrates the potential of Exploratory Search Systems to support the cognitive process in privacy tasks such as privacy threat identification. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) have many use cases and are becoming increasingly more popular in recent years. The paper analyses the disadvantages and problems of current DAOs (i.e., the Plutocracy problem) and presents a solution, in which the existing implementations of DAO are combined with the Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) ecosystem to solve those issues. The solution is presented in the form of an extension to the crypto wallet MetaMask, using Snaps, which enables DAO users to create SSI-based identifiers (DID) and manage verifiable credentials (VC), which are later on used as a voting ticket in a DAO. We validate the solution by presenting the prototype of the SSI Snap and demonstrating its usage on the Snapshot decentralized voting system. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Due to the direct contact between electrode and scalp, dry EEG electrodes are exposed to increased mechanical wear compared to conventional gel-based electrodes. However, state-of-the-art commercial cap systems commonly use permanently fixated electrodes which can lead to downtime of the EEG cap during professional repair and replacement as well as reduced overall lifetime. An easily replaceable EEG electrode would furthermore improve hygiene, especially for newborn and infant applications. We propose a novel replaceable electrode system, consisting of an electrode holder, a snap top, a contact ring fixated inside the electrode holder, and a replaceable electrode. The production process consists of 3D printing, silicone molding, resin casting, and electroless plating. The replaceable electrode system is integrated into a multichannel EEG cap system. A verification study is conducted with 30 volunteers. The operators experienced that the new electrode holder eases adjustment of the electrode to have proper contact with the scalp. During the study, defective electrodes can be replaced without a soldering process. Furthermore, all electrodes stayed in the holder and did not fall off the cap for the whole session. In conclusion, the novel replaceable electrode system is suitable for EEG measurements. © 2022 The Author(s), published by De Gruyter.

The rapid growth of electronic commerce (e-commerce) has revolutionized the way Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) conduct business, enabling them to reach global markets and unlock new growth opportunities. However, this digital transformation has also exposed SMEs to an escalating array of cybersecurity threats that could compromise their data, financial integrity, and reputation. Blockchain technology, known for its decentralized and immutable nature, has emerged as a potential solution to enhance the security and resilience of e-commerce operations for SMEs. This research paper aims to investigate the current state of cybersecurity preparedness among SMEs engaged in e-commerce and identify the prevalent threats they face in the digital landscape. To achieve this goal, the study incorporates systematic literature review (SLR) method to examine the best technological solution to address the cybersecurity issues faced by e-commerce organizations in this paper of SMEs operating in e-commerce to gather data on their security practices, incident history, and perceptions of cybersecurity risks. In the context of this research, blockchain technology will be explored as a potential mechanism to enhance the security of e-commerce operations for SMEs. The inherent features of blockchain, such as decentralization, transparency, and immutability, could help protect sensitive data and thwart cyberattacks. By exploring the integration of blockchain into e-commerce systems, the research aims to shed light on the potential benefits and challenges associated with its adoption by SMEs. The research findings will not only shed light on the prevailing cybersecurity practices within SMEs and highlight their vulnerabilities but will also explore how blockchain technology can be leveraged to address these challenges. Currently, studies of double nonlinear equations and systems of double nonlinear equations representing many processes found in nature are considered relevant and necessary. These equations and systems, as a rule, are nonlinear, degenerate, and have properties that are absent in linear theory and therefore make them quite difficult for both analytical and numerical analysis of the solution. For this reason, great attention is paid to the research of nonlinear mathematical models, the construction of efficient numerical solution schemes and algorithms, and the creation of software using the capabilities of computer technologies. In this article, the mathematical model of the diffusion process in a two-component nonlinear medium under the influence of time-dependent convective transfer and damping is studied. The calculation scheme, algorithm, and software for nonlinear problems were developed. Based on a study of the qualitative properties of a nonlinear mathematical model of a reaction-diffusion system, computer modeling of reaction-diffusion processes was carried out. The developed computational schemes, algorithms, and software packages for solving systems of parabolic equations with double nonlinearity provide high productivity in studying the theory and processes of numerical solutions of such problems. © 2024 ACM.

FPGA design and implementation for montgomery multiplication algorithm using MATLAB HDL coder

Modular multiplication for large numbers is especially important in cryptography algorithms such as RSA and elliptic curves. The Montgomery algorithm is the most famous and efficient one for calculating it. Hardware implementation for cryptography co-processors is better than software implementation in terms of speed and security. Many FPGA designs for the Montgomery multiplication algorithm was published based on hardware description languages like VERILOG and VHDL. This paper proposes the FPGA design and implementation using MATLAB HDL Coder. The algorithm is modified such that it can fit any small/large FPGA by introducing scaling factor. The design is configurable in both modulus length and the scaling factor. This paper performs a comparison between the synthesizing results for different scales and for different modulus lengths. The synthesizing is performed up to 8K bit modulus length, and it can be increased easily. In this paper, implementation of different modulus lengths with different frequencies and with different area utilization can be easily achieved. The design utilizes different area resources for each configuration. The target is xc7vx330t-2ffg1157 Virtex-7 Xilinx FPGA. The maximum frequency is 80.81 MHz for 4096-bit modulus length with 8-bit data width and 2 for serialization factor. The minimum area utilization is achieved for minimum configurations, i.e., 1024-bit modulus length with 8-bit data width and for unity serialization factor. This paper proposes a scalable and configurable FPGA design for Montgomery multiplication co-processor-based HDL coder design.

There are many difficulties in managing and detecting preterm pregnancies, especially in the early stages. Analyzing electrohysterogram data, which show the electrical activity of uterine muscles, is a promising non-invasive method for classifying term and preterm pregnancies. However, the effectiveness of machine learning classifiers is hampered by the inherent class imbalance in datasets. In order to overcome this constraint, this study uses a Generative Adversarial Network to produce high-quality synthetic EHG data while maintaining the statistical properties of actual signals. By successfully reducing class imbalance, the enhanced dataset makes it possible for machine learning models to be trained with resilience. Real and synthetic features did not differ significantly, according to statistical validation using a t-test (p > 0.05). With this method, the Random Forest classifier obtained a ROC-AUC of 0.99 and a 10-fold cross-validation accuracy of 98%. The suggested GAN-based method’s simplicity and efficacy demonstrate its promise for resolving class imbalance and developing reliable classification systems for diagnostic applications. © 2013 IEEE.

Addressing its growing number and vital role, decentralization of cloud computing becoming a necessity. Fog computing aims to bring application closer to the data source-typically at the network's edge by leveraging local resources to provide faster data processing and decision-making. Fog computing then has to place application strategically to use its limited fog resource to improve application performance metrics. This problem known as Fog Application Placement Problem (FAPP) has been approached using previous methods that rely on rules and prior knowledge that may not be adaptive, but rather being overly specialized to specific problems. Deep learning with its learning mechanism, can offer more adaptable and dynamic solutions for a wide range of scenarios, especially in fog network that continuously evolve. This research investigate Seq2seq placement model inherent limitations, notably the impracticality of generating every possible pattern from all potential request configurations. We aim to address and answer the following critical questions: 1) How does the model's performance vary when confronted with unseen requests or an augmented number of modules, especially considering the limitations in training data?;2) Can the seq2seq model, even with its training limitations, adhere to the heuristic rules of the dataset when dealing with unfamiliar problems? This research shows that in similar availability, there is a reduction of almost half of the response time with 183.03 ms, 2.93 number of hops, and 0.87 megabyte of transmitted messages against the hop3 algorithm. Moreover, we highlight the ability of seq2seq model to follow heuristic rules in unseen scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

Resource management in Underground Wireless Sensor Networks(UWSNs)is one of the pillars to extend the network *** intriguing design goal for such networks is to achieve balanced energy and spectral resource *** paper focuses on optimizing the resource efficiency in UWSNs where underground relay nodes amplify and forward sensed data,received from the buried source nodes through a lossy soil medium,to the aboveground base station.A new algorithm called the Hybrid Chaotic Salp Swarm and Crossover(HCSSC)algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal source and relay transmission powers to maximize the network resource *** proposed algorithm improves the standard Salp Swarm Algorithm(SSA)by considering a chaotic map to initialize the population along with performing the crossover technique in the position updates of *** experimental results,the HCSSC algorithm proves its outstanding superiority to the standard SSA for resource efficiency ***,the network’s lifetime is ***,the proposed algorithm achieves an improvement performance of 23.6%and 20.4%for the resource efficiency and average remaining relay battery per transmission,***,simulation results demonstrate that the HCSSC algorithm proves its efficacy in the case of both equal and different node battery capacities.
