Most of the agricultural loss and yield evaluation methods require separate plant parameters depending on phenological stages. In this study, an automated image processing based phenological stages detection system for cereal plants is explained. TARIT Project (***) in Turkey aims to predict crop yield and loss rates in crop lands over a vast region in South-Eastern Turkey. The image data is acquired in RGB format at 30 minutes period while the accompanied meteorological data is sampled at 10 minutes period. We construct a state machine for each field, and states represent the phonological stages. Each state has different transition function for the next stage related logical state. 7 major stages for wheat and barley are considered to determine transition dates although it could be increased in general. The sampled image is enhanced and normalized by using light rate and surface wetness related sensor data. Four different processes are then applied and their outcomes are used to determine the state transition conditions. The first is vegetation area green pixel ratio after RGB to HIS color space conversion. The second is change detection with respect to a virtual reference or recognized pattern for growth rate measurement. The fourth is probabilistic supporting stage transition factors based on agro-meteorological parameters. We set state transition functions depending on combination of these parameters with state dependent thresholds. It has shown that phenological stage transition dates of cereal plants can automatically be assigned less than a week tolerance with respect to expert diagnosis, by using the proposed image based state transition model.

E-business has become a popular way of conducting business in the last decade or two, when economic and social world evolved through progress in Internet and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In order to succeed, e-business solutions must meet different requirements of different stakeholders, and e-business solution developers and providers must understand which factors have a crucial impact on end user's usage behaviour. The primary objective of this paper is to systematically identify and classify most important factors with a significant direct or indirect impact on end user's decision whether he or she would accept and use a certain e-business technology. A practical outcome of this paper is a proposal for an e-business acceptance model, which could be used to better understand reasons, why certain e-business solutions have higher acceptance rate than other.

The momentum-weighted sum of the charges of tracks associated to a jet is sensitive to the charge of the initiating quark or gluon. This paper presents a measurement of the distribution of momentum-weighted sums, called jet charge, in dijet events using 20.3 fb−1 of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at s=8 TeV in pp collisions at the LHC. The jet charge distribution is unfolded to remove distortions from detector effects and the resulting particle-level distribution is compared with several models. The pT dependence of the jet charge distribution average and standard deviation are compared to predictions obtained with several leading-order and next-to-leading-order parton distribution functions. The data are also compared to different Monte Carlo simulations of QCD dijet production using various settings of the free parameters within these models. The chosen value of the strong coupling constant used to calculate gluon radiation is found to have a significant impact on the predicted jet charge. There is evidence for a pT dependence of the jet charge distribution for a given jet flavor. In agreement with perturbative QCD predictions, the data show that the average jet charge of quark-initiated jets decreases in magnitude as the energy of the jet increases.

Using XML data was initially applied in electronic data interchange and e-business, however the application of XML has been moved to several other fields. We nominate those fields of use as XML domains and presume that subsets of their characteristics significantly differ from one another. In this paper, we present the list of identified XML domains with high degree of XML Schema appearances, and for the XML domains, we identify common and distinctive characteristics. Additionally, we propose a function for transforming identified XML domains into known XML Schema patterns.

Prompt photon production in sNN=2.76-TeV Pb+Pb collisions has been measured by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using data collected in 2011 with an integrated luminosity of 0.14 nb−1. Inclusive photon yields, scaled by the mean nuclear thickness function, are presented as a function of collision centrality and transverse momentum in two pseudorapidity intervals, |η|<1.37 and 1.52≤|η|<2.37. The scaled yields in the two pseudorapidity intervals, as well as the ratios of the forward yields to those at midrapidity, are compared to the expectations from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD (pQCD) calculations. The measured cross sections agree well with the predictions for proton-proton collisions within statistical and systematic uncertainties. Both the yields and the ratios are also compared to two other pQCD calculations, one which uses the isospin content appropriate to colliding lead nuclei and another which includes nuclear modifications to the nucleon parton distribution functions.

Color is a basic aspect of human perception and will effect on the people's spirit as one part of living environments. Some experiments have proved that the different color will play an important role on enhancing cognitive task performance, and the people's moods and behaviors can also be changed by the colors. It is said that the different color has been shown to have different associations within the cognitive domain. In this paper, we present the results of the subjects watching the colors under the brainwave bands analysis. A simple visual color stimulus is done with the dependence on frequency during subjects watching the stimuli for a long time. By analyzing data after 300ms during the stimuli happened for avoiding the effect of early response, we proposed that the subject could produce visual "synchronization" phenomenon like auditory synchronization. © 2012 IEEE.

In this study, an application has been developed to evaluate the performance of the welder candidates who's using the 3D Welding Simulator. Training of welders with virtual welding simulator for three different welding methods (Electric arc, MIG-MAG and TIG) can be performed close to reality. To keep the information about the experiments on virtual welding simulator and the users who performed the experiments, a Database management and reporting system has been developed. In this software module, welding information, calculated ideal welding parameters and parameters data recorded during welding operation are stored in the database. With this software virtual welding experiments performed by welder candidate can be evaluated, the results can be shown as graphics and scoring, and personal or classroom-based development can be traced.

Triple Play service is now one of the most important services for Telecom operators. This service contains: IPTV, VoIP, VoD, Internet and in some cases even fixed telephony and mobile telephony. The aim of Telecom operators is to improve this service by introducing some new subservices to get better business results. One example of these subservices is a Hosting service. This paper describes the process of introducing of Hosting system in one Telecom operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina and compares business results of Telecom operators without a Hosting service and with a Hosting service which is integrated into Triple Play. This paper has a scientific value because it describes steps of introducing Hosting service into Triple Play and describes the importance of Hosting service for Telecom operators. © 2012 MIPRO.

Motion segmentation for articulated objects is an important topic of research. Yet such a segmentation should be as free as possible from underlying assumptions so as to fit general scenes and objects. In this paper we demonstrate an algorithm for articulated motion segmentation of 3D point clouds, free of any assumptions on the underlying model and yet firmly set in a well-defined variational framework. Results on scanned images show the generality of the proposed technique and its robustness to scanning artifacts and noise. © The Eurographics Association 2012.

To operate actuators (e.g., robots) with a certain controller in smart environment, it requires some programming for connecting between them. However, such programming without any structure often causes the system with the lack of extensibility and flexibility. In this paper, we show an implementation of the programming framework, called Squareknot, for connecting between controllers and actuators based on MAC (Mapping between Actuators and Controllers) model. It provides the modularized structure to add new actuators and controllers in the environment easily. It also gives flexibility in customizing the operability for the actuators with the controller.
