Cervical cancer is one of the most common causes of death among women worldwide. However, this fatal disease can be treated, and the mortality rate can be decreased if detected at an early stage. The Papanicolaou test is the gold standard for screening cervical cancer patients. However, the process of manual inspection is tedious and subject to manual errors. Thus, computer-based automatic screening is considered a viable alternative. To this end, in the present work, we have developed a novel system for classifying cervical cancer images as either normal or malignant. We have used the Herlev dataset in this study, which is the standard Pap smear image benchmark dataset. The proposed framework uses multiple base deep learning frameworks, namely Vision Transformer, Xception, VGG-19, VGG-16, and ResNet-101, for classification. Further, we have introduced a novel reward-based weighing technique to decide the weights of individual classifiers, which are, in turn, used to make decisions about the final class label of an input image using the weighted average technique. The proposed framework achieves an overall accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC of 96%, 94%, 92%, 93%, and 94%, respectively, for the binary classification task that is normal vs. malignant. An elaborate study of the performance achieved by our proposed framework on the Herlev dataset shows it to be both robust and effective for the Pap smear image classification task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Developing a software system from natural language requirements is a complex and delicate task that requires a high level of design and programming expertise. Increasing the level of abstraction used to describe these requirements is the most natural solution. Model-Driven engineering (MDE) also takes this route, using abstract models as primary entities to generate source code automatically or semi-automatically. Among these models, the UML class diagram occupies a privileged place in object-oriented systems because it not only serves as a basis for communication between developers but also provides a closely aligned static representation of the system implementation. However, creating a UML class diagram from a textual system specification poses a significant challenge due to the inherent imprecision and ambiguity commonly found in natural language expressions. In this paper, we propose a model-centric approach based on deep learning for the automatic extraction of UML class diagrams from textual requirements. © 2024 ACM.

Image-denoising techniques are widely used to defend against Adversarial Examples(AEs).However,denoising alone cannot completely eliminate adversarial *** remaining perturbations tend to amplify as they propagate through deeper layers of the network,leading to ***,image denoising compromises the classification accuracy of original *** address these challenges in AE defense through image denoising,this paper proposes a novel AE detection *** proposed technique combines multiple traditional image-denoising algorithms and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)network *** used detector model integrates the classification results of different models as the input to the detector and calculates the final output of the detector based on a machine-learning voting *** analyzing the discrepancy between predictions made by the model on original examples and denoised examples,AEs are detected *** technique reduces computational overhead without modifying the model structure or parameters,effectively avoiding the error amplification caused by *** proposed approach demonstrates excellent detection performance against mainstream AE *** results show outstanding detection performance in well-known AE attacks,including Fast Gradient Sign Method(FGSM),Basic Iteration Method(BIM),DeepFool,and Carlini&Wagner(C&W),achieving a 94%success rate in FGSM detection,while only reducing the accuracy of clean examples by 4%.

We analyze wholesale datasets from Indonesian Automobile Industry Data for electric cars in Indonesia using statistical analysis to predict the electric cars used in the future. We apply a linear regression approach that adjusts the regression model according to wholesale electric cars between 2020 and 2022, as well as a statistical correlation test and the Wilcoxon test to support the regression result. We find a strong positive relationship for electric cars bought in the future, with a not significantly different population median of the total number of wholesale electric cars. It might be 210 cars estimated per year. Among the regression model, it is more effective for policymakers, as well as car industries. We estimate that there are various reasons and conditions for Indonesian people regarding buying electric cars inside conventional ones. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The e-Iearning system or distance learning system has become important, especially during the COVID-19 pan-demic. Several tertiary institutions have made the e-Iearning system an alternative teaching and learning activity. Research on the use of e-Iearning needs to be explored to obtain innovative, creative, and fun learning. One aspect that can be examined in e-learning is students' emotional response to the learning activities. The emotional state of students directly or indirectly affects the learning process. The student's emotional responses can be measured by their facial expressions. In this study, an exploration was carried out on the facial expressions shown by students in HSS Learning, an e-Iearning for learning web programming. The student's facial expressions were extracted using 68 pairs of facial landmarks and additional 6 facial feature vectors. The total number of features used is 142. Machine learning methods for classification are applied to determine the performance of several classification models, including the k-Nearest Neighbor (k- NN) algorithm, Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Machine learning performance evaluation is done using the Fl-score and confusion matrix. The results show that the accuracy of the k-NN, Logistic Regression, and SVM are 91.4%, 92.2%, and 92.1 %, respectively. However, the Fl-score macro values are relatively low due to data imbalance with the k- NN, Logistic Regression, and SVM models are 0.250, 0.272, and 0.243, respectively. While the study provides insight into the student learning experience in e-Iearning settings, this study needs to be explored more.

Performance Analysis of Three Spectrum Sensing Detection Techniques with Ambient Backscatter Communication in Cognitive Radio Networks

In wireless communications, the Ambient Backscatter Communication (AmBC) technique is a promisingapproach, detecting user presence accurately at low power levels. At low power or a low Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR), there is no dedicated power for the users. Instead, they can transmit information by reflecting the ambientRadio Frequency (RF) signals in the spectrum. Therefore, it is essential to detect user presence in the spectrum forthe transmission of data without loss or without collision at a specific time. In this paper, the authors proposed anovel Spectrum Sensing (SS) detection technique in the Cognitive Radio (CR) spectrum, by developing the *** Matched Filter Detection with Inverse covariance (MFDI), Cyclostationary Feature Detection with Inversecovariance (CFDI) and Hybrid Filter Detection with Inverse covariance (HFDI) approaches are used with AmBCto detect the presence of users at low power levels. The performance of the three detection techniques is measuredusing the parameters of Probability of Detection (PD), Probability of False Alarms (Pfa), Probability of MissedDetection (Pmd), sensing time and throughput at low power or low SNR. The results show that there is a significantimprovement via the HFDI technique for all the parameters.

Substance abuse is the unrestrained and detrimental use of psychoactive chemical substances, unauthorized drugs, and alcohol that can ultimately lead a human to disastrous consequences. As patients with this behavior display a high value of relapse, the best intervention approach is to prevent it at the very beginning. In this paper, we propose a framework based on machine learning techniques to identify individual vulnerability towards substance abuse by analyzing socio-economic aspects. We have carefully assessed the commonly involved causes to form the questionnaire for collecting data from healthy people and patients suffering from substance abuse. Using Pearson’s chi-squared test of independence, feature importance is measured to eliminate less significant features using backward elimination. Popular machine learning classification algorithms (Random Forest, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine, K-Nearest neighbors, and Gaussian Naive Bayes) are used to build the predictive classifier. To identify the key risk-factors of individual substance abuse, we extract association rules from the significant features and subsequent factors. Automating the monitoring of the roads would mean safer roads for both car drivers and pedestrians. The objectives of the system were to build a real time surveillance system for intelligent roads of the future. The system should be able to detect lane lines, cars, pedestrians and other moving vehicles on the road. In case a car goes off its course, the system should report it as an accident. Relying on machine learning technology, a real time detection based neural network was constructed to be trained on picking up objects in any given scene like cars, buses, pedestrians, bikes and motor bikes. Also, an algorithm was designed to detect lane lines and highlight them on the screen using image processing techniques and edge detection. The system achieved its main required target which is being able to detect objects in almost real time. © 2021 ACM.

PPG signal is a valuable resource for continuous heart rate monitoring;however, this signal suffers from artifact movements, which is particularly relevant during physical exercise and makes this biomedical signal difficult to use for heart rate detection during those activities. The purpose of this study was to develop learning models to determine heart rate using data from wearables (PPG and acceleration signals) and dealing with noise during physical exercise. Learning models based on CNNs and LSTMs were developed to predict the heart rate. The PPG signal was combined with data from accelerometers trying to overcome the noise movement on the PPG signal. Two datasets were used on this work: the 2015 IEEE Signal Processing Cup (SPC) dataset was used for training and testing, and another dataset was used for validation of the learning model (PPG-DaLiA dataset). The predictions obtained by the learning model represented a mean average error of 7.033±5.376 bpm for the SCP dataset, while a mean average error of 9.520±8.443 bpm for the validation set. The use of acceleration data increases the performance of the learning models on the prediction of the heart rate, showing the benefits of using this source of data to overcome the noise movement problem on the PPG signal. The combination of PPG signal with acceleration data could allow the learning models to use more information regarding the motion artifacts that affect the PPG and improve performance on the physiological event detections, which will largely spread the use of wearables on the healthcare applications for continuous monitor the physiological state allowing early and accurate detection of pathological events. © 2023 IEEE.
