Before elections, political parties make their campaign promises. These promises are often poorly defined and ambiguous. Such campaign promises are difficult to monitor and confirm their fulfillment. This paper discusses current challenges in monitoring political campaign promises. While monitoring platforms exist, their centralized nature raises concerns about data manipulation. The paper suggests leveraging blockchain technology, specifically smart contracts and independent monitoring bodies, to ensure accurate and tamper-proof traceability of (un)fulfilled promises.

A notable increase in skin cancer mortality, one of the most lethal kinds of cancer, has been caused by a lack of awareness of warning signals and preventative measures. The need for early skin cancer diagnosis has increased because of the fast development rate of melanoma skin cancer, its high cost of treatment, and its mortality risk. Treatment of cancer cells usually requires perseverance and manual identification. This study recommends using image synthesis and machine learning techniques to develop a system for diagnosing skin cancer. Thermoscopic pictures are the input for the pre-processing phase. Following the segmentation of the thermoscopic images, the attributes of the injured skin cells are obtained using a feature extraction approach. Utilizing a convolutional neural network classifier with deep learning, the collected characteristics are stratified. An accuracy of 89% has been discovered using the publicly available dataset.

The reduction of harmonics in terms of improving power quality is usually achieved using passive or active filters. Due to their advantages over passive filters, active power filters (APF) are receiving increased attention from researchers focusing on optimal sizing and allocation of APFs in the network with the aim of reducing total harmonic distortion. This paper proposes methodology for determining optimal size, location and settings of APF while observing total harmonic distortion of voltage (THDV). It emphasizes the importance of controlling individual harmonic distortion (IHD). Furthermore, due to the different nature of the injection of harmonics into the radial distribution system (RDS), proposed methodology takes into account the load variation as well as changes in generation of the PV systems as distributed generation (DG). Optimal settings of APF is determined using particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. Evaluation of the proposed method is performed on three different study cases. Results show that variation of generation and consumption have significant impact on sizing, allocation and settings of the APFs. Furthermore, results pointed out that in apart from observing THDV, it is also necessary to observe IHD.

Wireless sensor networks attracting a great deal of research interest. Accurate localization of sensor nodes is a strong requirement in a wide area of applications. In recent years, several techniques have been proposed for localization in wireless sensor networks. In this paper we present a localization scheme with using only one mobile anchor station and received signal strength indicator technique, which reduces average localization errors and execution time. Satisfactory simulation results and also comparison of localization errors and execution time between our scheme and similar previous schemes depicts the efficiency of proposed method against previous schemes.

In this paper, we present a concept of the smart sticker for the use in product storage and transportation, the main elements of the supply chain. Complete automation of the supply chain elements was the goal since the rapid development of information technologies. Our concept proposes data logging of the product environment conditions during storage and transportation. Smart sticker is based on RFID technology, low-power, and flexible electronics powered by Li-ion battery. It can adhere to a product or a pallet and enables local data logging of the environmental conditions. When necessary, the user can read the data with an RFID reader, eg. smartphone. The proposed concept will enable additional opportunities in the supply chain that will improve customer service and user experience at a reduced cost.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a subset of the Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and they share many similarities, but the most important difference is that VANETs consists of high-speed nodes that are moving at various speeds and in different directions which creates a highly dynamic network environment. Therefore, it is very challenging to find the best nodes for carrying and forwarding messages, efficient disseminate messages in the network, as well as to have known and long-lasting routes. Furthermore, the traffic environment is exposed to various traffic densities and congestions, surrounding environment full of obstacles and unpredicted situations. The objective of this paper is to prove whether mathematics IT used in a road traffic engineering case study could help the students’ understanding. Methodology used was quantitative as data on traffic flow was collected. Git Hub is a software development platform that facilitates collaboration and participation in project development. Typically, developers search for relevant projects in order to reuse functions and identify useful features. Recommending suitable projects for developers can save their time. However,finding suitable projects among many projects on Git Hub is difficult. In addition, different users may have different requirements. A recommendation system would help developers by reducing the time required to find suitable projects. In this paper, we propose an approach to recommend projects that considers developer behaviors and project features. The proposed approach automatically recommends the top-N most relevant software projects. We also integrate user feedback to improve recommendation accuracy. The results of an empirical study using data crawled from Git Hub demonstrate that the proposed approach can efficiently recommend relevant software projects with relatively high precision.

Age estimation is one of the main problems in the framework of pattern recognition which aims to predict the age of an individual according to his (her) facial features. The difficulty of age estimation will be increased when several parts of facial image are covered by the local latency such as sun glasses or scarf. In this paper a new facial age estimation method is proposed to estimate the age of an individual under the terms of local latency. This paper proposes a new Local Binary Pattern (LBP)-based feature extraction method which is combined with a weighting scheme to assign high weights to general LBP feature elements (parts of facial image without local latency) whereas assigns low weights to the feature elements of facial image which are covered by the local latency. In the proposed method, the weighted feature elements are employed in Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model for age estimation. Evaluation results of the proposed method on three aging datasets such as FG-NET, MORPH and UCI which contain facial image under the local latency proves the ability of the proposed method in age estimation problem even under the terms of local latency.
