L2H-NeRF: low- to high-frequency-guided NeRF for 3D reconstruction with a few input scenes

Nowadays, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction techniques are becoming increasingly important in the fields of architecture, game development, movie production, and more. Due to common issues in the reconstruction process, such as perspective distortion and occlusion, traditional 3D reconstruction methods face significant challenges in achieving high-precision results, even when dense data are used as inputs. With the advent of neural radiance field (NeRF) technology, high-fidelity 3D reconstruction results are now possible. However, high computational resources are usually required for NeRF computations. Recently, a few data inputs are used to ensure the highest quality. In this paper, we propose an innovative low- to high-frequency-guided NeRF (L2H-NeRF) framework that decomposes scene reconstruction into coarse and fine stages. For the first stage, a low-frequency enhancement network based on a vision transformer is proposed, where the low-frequency-based globally coherent geometric structure is recovered, with the dense depth restored in a depth completion way. In the second stage, a high-frequency enhancement network is incorporated, where the high-frequency-related detail is compensated by robust feature alignment across adjacent views using a plug-and-play feature extraction and matching module. Experiments demonstrate that both the accuracy of the geometric structure and the feature detail of the proposed L2H-NeRF outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Publication performance and trends in virtual reality research in education fields: a bibliometric analysis

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has the potential to enhance education by providing immersive and engaging learning experiences that can improve teaching and learning outcomes. While there is a growing interest in utilizing VR in education settings, further research is needed to understand its pedagogical effectiveness and address associated considerations and challenges. This bibliometric study comprehensively analyzes 1,157 relevant articles from the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EPANDED) to gain insights into the current state of VR integration in education. The analysis revealed variation in VR adoption and research output across countries and institutions, underscoring the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field. Key research areas and trends, such as the use of VR for skill development and training, were identified. Additionally, the study highlighted the need for more research on the pedagogical effectiveness of VR. The findings carry practical implications for guiding future research shaping policy decisions and advocating for a concerted effort to harness VR’s capabilities in education. This study serves as a practical roadmap, promoting the implementation and improvement of VR technology and fostering equitable and inclusive educational practices. © The Author(s) 2024.

Job Resumes Recommendation using Integration of Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix Feature Selection and Convolutional Neural Network Multi-label Text Classification

The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. With the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems and growing emphasis on driver safety, real-time detection of driver drowsiness has become a critical area of research. This study presents a robust and scalable driver drowsiness detection framework that integrates a Swin Transformer-based deep learning model with a diffusion model for image denoising. While conventional convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are effective in standard vision tasks, they often suffer performance degradation in real-world driving scenarios due to noise, poor lighting, motion blur, and adversarial attacks. To address these challenges, the proposed model focuses on eye-state detection, specifically, prolonged eye closure, as a primary indicator of driver disengagement and fatigue. Our system introduces a novel preprocessing stage using a denoising diffusion model built on a U-Net encoder-decoder architecture, effectively mitigating the impact of Gaussian noise and adversarial perturbations. Additionally, we incorporate adversarial training with Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM) and Projected Gradient Descent (PGD) attacks, demonstrating significant improvements in classification accuracy and resilience. Evaluations are conducted on two benchmark datasets, Eye-Blink and Closed Eyes in the Wild (CEW), under both clean and noisy conditions. Comparative experiments show that the proposed system outperforms several state-of-the-art models, including ViT, ResNet50V2, InceptionV3, MobileNet, DenseNet169, and VGG19, in terms of accuracy (up to 99.82%), PSNR (up to 41.61 dB), and SSIM (up to 0.984), while maintaining competitive inference times suitable for practical deployment. Moreover, a detailed sensitivity analysis of data augmentation strategies reveals that techniques such as rotation and horizontal flip substantially enhance the model’s generalization across variable visual inputs. This paper investigates covert communications in a multi-relay Internet of Things (IoT) system with multiple energy harvesting jammers, where a transmitter (Alice) attempts to covertly transmit confidential messages to its destination (Bob) through relay forwarding, while a warden (Willie) detects the existence of Alice's transmission. Specifically, we employ a harvesting-then-jamming protocol with which the jammers first harvest energy from Alice and then send jamming signals to interfere with Willie's detection. We propose a relay and jammer selection strategy, namely quality of service (QoS)-aware selection, and use the random selection strategy as a comparison strategy. Under these two selection strategies, we derive the optimal detection threshold and minimum detection error probability at Willie, respectively. We then model the covert throughput performance and obtain the maximum covert throughput by jointly optimizing covert transmit power and jamming transmit power. Extensive numerical results are provided to illustrate the impacts of system parameters on covert throughput performance. © 2014 IEEE.

A capsule neural network faces significant challenges in achieving high accuracy on complex datasets due to its high computational complexity and limited ability to represent features. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a novel framework, Dempster-Shafer Deep Capsule Attention Model (DDCAM), that combines 3D convolution with attention mechanisms to improve feature representation. This model utilizes the Dempster-Shafer Theory to manage uncertainty and optimize feature selection, resulting in more reliable and accurate learning. In this architecture, dense capsule blocks are used to improve gradient flow and mitigate the effects of vanishing gradients. The DDCAM consistently outperforms state-of-the-art capsule networks on a wide range of datasets, especially complex datasets such as MNIST, CIFAR10, SVHN, and Fashion MNIST. DDCAM improves accuracy by 1.29% on CIFAR10 and 0.76% on SVHN compared to existing models, while achieving precision improvements of 1.22% and 1.08% on CIFAR10 and SVHN, respectively. Additionally, experiments conducted on the AffNIST dataset demonstrate the robustness of DDCAM in handling affine transformations, where it achieved significantly higher accuracy compared to existing models. These results illustrate the model’s enhanced ability to capture complex data relationships and improve both accuracy and precision, advancing capsule neural network performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems (NSS) has become an important Journal for neutrosophic theory and its applications in uncertainty modeling and decision sciences. In 2023, NSS celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of contributions to scientific literature. Motivated by this event, this paper provides a critical bibliometric analysis of NSS’s evolution as a leading academic journal in neutrosophy. This study explores the publication trends, citation impact, most productive authors, institutions, and global collaboration networks of NSS. The study maps bibliographic coupling, keyword co-occurrence and co-citation analysis using data from the Scopus database, secondary search using NSS webpage, and visualization tools like the VOSviewer. The findings identify Neutrosophic Sets, Decision-Making, and Fuzzy Sets as the most frequently studied keywords that highlight the increasing integration of neutrosophic approaches into multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) and soft computing. The results indicate the most significant areas of research that are topology, soft set theory, hypersoft sets, and uncertainty modeling. The findings highlight the NSS increasing international collaboration, with contributions from America, Middle East, and Asia. Additionally, the analysis explores NSS’s alignment with sustainable development goals (SDGs), revealing notable contributions to good health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), and peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16). These contributions highlight how neutrosophic sets and systems is valuable across many researchers, from public health to governance to education. Overall, this paper serves as a fundamental study for researchers looking to explore emerging trends and novel applications of neutrosophic theories across diverse scientific and practical domains. © 2025, University of New Mexico. CNN-Based Multi-Output and Multi-Task Regression for Supershape Reconstruction from 3D Point Clouds

In a number of industries, including computer graphics, robotics, and medical imaging, three-dimensional reconstruction is essential. In this research, a CNN-based Multi-output and Multi-Task Regressor with deep learning capabilities is proposed for three-dimensional object reconstruction from 3D point cloud. Our approach is grounded in the original Point Net architecture, which addresses the difficulties associated with convolution when applied to point clouds. Firstly, this paper is modified using a Multi-Output Regressor to accurately recreate Super forms from 3D point clouds. Using this method, we first extract features from the 3D point cloud using Point Net. After that, a Multi-Output Regressor receives these data and uses them to anticipate the Super shape parameters needed to reconstruct the shape. Taking in the data, the Multi-Output Regressor retrieved characteristics from Point Net and simultaneously predicts several outcomes. Second, a Multi-Task Regressor is used to modify the Point Net. The network gains from the capacity to transfer knowledge from one task to another, improving the model's overall performance. The model would forecast the ten parameters needed to create the shape in the case of rebuilding Super shapes. The test findings were better than expected;they are intriguing in terms of prediction accuracy and cost, and they update the result by 80%, which is a good accomplishment for the study. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika.
