As more private data is entering the web, defining authorization about its access is crucial for privacy protection. This paper proposes a policy language that leverages SPARQL expressiveness and popularity for flexible access control management and enforces the protection using temporal graphs. The temporal graphs are created during the authentication phase and are cached for further usage. They enable design-time policy testing and debugging, which is necessary for correctness guarantee. The security never comes with convenience, and this paper examines the environments in which the temporal graphs are suitable. Based on the evaluation results, an approximated function is defined for suitability determination based on the expected temporal graph size. © 2021, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

Data dissemination is critical for 6G autonomous driving (AD) service because of the extensive demand for real-time traffic information. However, the heavier data transmission burden and more stringent requirements of AD service bring challenges for current data dissemination methods. In this paper, we first propose a novel digital twin (DT)-based semantic dissemination architecture to better support 6G AD service. Under this architecture, an energy-efficient semantic communication mechanism is developed to reduce the data dissemination burden while keeping low semantic model update costs. Meanwhile, the DT network is leveraged to disseminate semantic data in parallel with the physical vehicular networks, which alleviates the physical transmission contention and improves the dissemination efficiency. Second, we design a deep-reinforcement-learning (DRL)-driven semantic data dissemination scheme for the proposed architecture, named Proximal-policy-optimization for Digital-twin-aided Data Dissemination (PD3), which seeks the optimal DT transfer and semantic transmission scheduling strategy. Finally, experimental results show that our approach surpasses the state-of-the-art methods by 18.36% lower dissemination delay and 4.51% higher dissemination ratio on average.

With the continuous development of IoT, a number of sensors establish on the roadside to monitor traffic conditions in real time. The continuously traffic data generated by these sensors makes traffic management feasible. However, loss of data may occur due to inevitable sensor failure, impeding traffic managers to understand traffic dynamics clearly. In this situation, it is becoming a necessity to predict missing traffic flow accurately for effective traffic management. Furthermore, the traffic sensor data are often distributed and stored by different agencies, which inhibits the multi-party sensor data sharing significantly due to privacy concerns. Therefore, it has become a major obstacle to balance the tradeoff between data sharing and vehicle privacy. In light of these challenges, we propose a privacy-aware and accurate missing traffic flow prediction approach based on time-aware Locality-Sensitive Hashing technique. At last, we deploy a set of experiments based on a real traffic dataset. Experimental reports demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal in terms of traffic flow prediction accuracy and efficiency while guaranteeing sensor data privacy. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining stands as the gold standard protocol for the preparationof histopathology tissue samples in breast cancer research. This staining technique facilitates theidentification and differentiation of various cell types within the tissue, providing crucial informationfor pathologists. While deep learning algorithms have shown promise in automating the analysis ofH&E images, their effectiveness relies on extensive datasets for training. Unfortunately, there is ascarcity of publicly available datasets specifically tailored for nuclei and mitosis detection. To addressthis gap, this paper introduces two publicly available datasets, namely NuSeC (Nuclei Segmentationand Classification) and MiDeSeC (Mitosis Detection, Segmentation, and Classification) to serve asvaluable resources for building deep learning models for histopathological image analysis. The NuSeCdataset comprises 75 images for training and an additional 25 images for testing, encompassing around6000 nuclei structures, and the MiDeSeC dataset involves 35 training and 15 test image sets with morethan 500 mitoses. In both datasets, the QuPath tool as a pixel-level annotator is utilized to generatemask images. Moreover, we design two deep learning-based methodologies to conduct experimentalanalysis on the NuSeC and MiDeSeC datasets. The results indicate the potential to achieve substantialperformance on these datasets, facilitating the construction of new models or analysis of existing ones © 2024, The Authors. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of technology-based interventions on academic performance. To achieve this purpose a systematic review was conducted. Within the scope of this study EBSCO, Springer, ProQuest, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Taylor and Francis Online, databases were scanned, and 18 studies were included in the review. Our results show that the iPad is the most preferred digital device for enhancing math and reading skills and significant results can be seen when used. Similar positive effects were observed with other technological devices, reinforcing the effectiveness of technology as a tool for supporting academic performance. This evidence underscores the value of incorporating digital devices in educational strategies, particularly for improving key academic skills.

Recently, with the wide distribution of digital media, the need for authenticating digital images was increased. Therefore, many image tamper detection and recovery algorithms were introduced in literature to detect malicious modifications and retrieve the original images. The process of detection and recovery, however, used to have complex operation which requires long processing time. In this paper, a simplified image recovery algorithm is presented by using lifting wavelet transform. In the proposed method, the approximation band is hidden inside the bits of the original image and to be retrieved without relying on source image. For images with hidden data, the average PSNR and SSIM values were 31.22 and 0.977 respectively, and images were successfully retrieved after block attack. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

It is quite common for medical drugs and prescriptions to be misidentified by hospitals and after drugs are being dispensed to the patients. Misidentification of medical drugs is more common among elderly and visually impaired patients. In hospital organizations, the leading medical error is adverse drug events. Another most common issue patients face is keeping track of medical lab reports. Our proposed mobile medical assistant system uses image processing to identify drugs with or without packaging, identifying prescription and medical lab reports. Furthermore, the mobile application will identify the trends of medical lab reports and predict next month’s results of the medical lab report of the patient using machine learning.

This research was conducted to develop a mobile application that provides expert solutions for the common problems faced by rubber planters in Sri Lanka. The application developed consists of four components, namely, identification of pests in immature rubber plantations and rubber nurseries; leaf disease identification; cover crop identification; and weed identification. Images taken using the mobile phone cameras are recognized using machine learning models developed using several convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures such as mobile net version 2 (MobileNet v2), VGG 16, VGG19, and residual networks (ResNet). After the images were recognized, the application will provide expert solutions and management strategies to the rubber planters. As most of the rubber plantations are located in areas with low network coverage, the application was designed to be operated in offline mode using TensorFlow lite technology.

Due to the uncertain nature of drought, it is one of the most menacing natural disasters. Drought modeling (Prediction, Detection, Forecasting, and Stage Prediction) is very essential for efficient policy making. But one of the key problems with drought modeling is the limited availability of centralized datasets. To address this problem, we are a novel proposing federated learning based transfer learning models for the prediction of drought stages. In this study, satellite image dataset was collected from the Tharparkar district (prone to drought) of Pakistan. We trained the dataset using traditional and federated learning approaches, comparing centralized ML models, pre-trained models, and their respective federated learning models (FL-ResNet, FL-DenseNet, FL-MobileNet). The development of these models is the novel aspect of the study specifically for the use case of drought stage prediction. Based on the final evaluation, FL-MobileNet achieved 82% precision while baseline MobileNet scored 68%. The results show the effectiveness of novelty (federated learning), that our proposed framework improves the performance of the drought stage classification task. © The Author(s) 2025.
