In this paper, we present an immersive virtual farm simulation developed to provide realistic on-farm experiences to the public. Users could visit the virtual farm, walk through various sites where dairy cows are raised, and learn how the dairy products are produced through the virtual experience. Public users' responses about the virtual experience were collected in various measures, e.g., user experience and learning efficacy, via showcases at local libraries. We present preliminary results regarding the potential of the simulation as an effective agricultural education, and discuss our future plans.

The development of compact and efficient devices has been made possible by the growth of Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) technologies, which has transformed modern electronics. However, there are cautions regarding the security of data, especially when it comes to transmission due to the extensive usage of technology. To address these, this study proposes a modified Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm as a solution for improved security protocol in VLSI systems. The proposed algorithm are intended to support the encryption procedure, increasing stronger production against cryptographic attacks while preserving the system's effectiveness and speed factors that are critical aspects for VLSI applications. Through extensive simulations and testing, the modified AES algorithm demonstrated significant security enhancements the operational efficiency of the VLSI system. The attained outcomes of the proposed work shows that the Modified AES strategy provides a workable technique to protect data in VLSI-based devices while maintaining data communication integrity and confidentiality. The proposed modified AES algorithm demonstrates a significant improvement in performance with a propagation delay of 7 ns, power consumption of 29 mW, and a computational overhead of 62 bits, leading to enhanced efficiency in cryptographic operations. This study highlights that the modified AES algorithm improve security in modern electronic systems and maintain performance. © 2025 IEEE.

Classification or Prompting: A Case Study on Legal Requirements Traceability

New regulations are continuously introduced to ensure that software development complies with the ethical concerns and prioritizes public safety. A prerequisite for demonstrating compliance involves tracing software requirements to legal provisions. Requirements traceability is a fundamental task where requirements engineers are supposed to analyze technical requirements against target artifacts, often under limited time budget. Doing this analysis manually for complex systems with hundreds of requirements is infeasible. The legal dimension introduces additional challenges that only exacerbate manual effort. In this paper, we investigate two automated solutions based on large language models (LLMs) to predict trace links between requirements and legal provisions. The first solution, Kashιf, is a classifier that leverages sentence transformers and semantic similarity. The second solution prompts a recent generative LLM based on Rice, a prompt engineering framework. On a benchmark dataset, we empirically evaluate Kashιf and compare it against a baseline classifier from the literature. Kashιf can identify trace links with an average recall of ≈67%, outperforming the baseline with a substantial gain of 54 percentage points (pp) in recall. However, on unseen, more complex requirements documents traced to the European general data protection regulation (GDPR), Kashιf performs poorly, yielding an average recall of 15%. On the same documents, however, our Rice-based solution yields an average recall of 84%, with a remarkable gain of about 69 pp over Kashιf. Our results © 2025, CC BY.

Affine correspondences have traditionally been used to improve feature matching over wide baselines. While recent work has successfully used affine correspondences to solve various relative camera pose estimation problems, less attention has been given to their use in absolute pose estimation. We introduce the first general solution to the problem of estimating the pose of a calibrated camera given a single observation of an oriented point and an affine correspondence. The advantage of our approach (P1AC) is that it requires only a single correspondence, in comparison to the traditional point-based approach (P3P), significantly reducing the combinatorics in robust estimation. P1AC provides a general solution that removes restrictive assumptions made in prior work and is applicable to large-scale image-based localization. We propose a minimal solution to the P1AC problem and evaluate our novel solver on synthetic data, showing its numerical stability and performance under various types of noise. On standard image-based localization benchmarks we show that P1AC achieves more accurate results than the widely used P3P algorithm. In various applications in Internet of Things like industrial monitoring, large amounts of floating-point time series data are generated at an unprecedented rate. Efficient compression algorithms can effectively reduce the size of data, enhance transmission performance and storage efficiency, and simultaneously lower storage costs. Therefore, there is a need for lightweight and efficient stream compression algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel lossless floating-point data compression algorithm called Ant. The main idea is to encode double-precision floating-point numbers into integer form, calculate the delta between adjacent values, and then convert the delta into unsigned integers. This encoding method effectively reduces storage costs and improves data compression efficiency. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that our algorithm achieves compression speeds at least as fast as state-of-the-art streaming methods, and a 63% relative improvement in average compression rate.

Automotive simulation can potentially compensate for a lack of training data in computer vision applications. However, there has been little to no image quality evaluation of automotive simulation and the impact of optical degradations on simulation is little explored. In this work, we investigate Virtual KITTI and the impact of applying variations of Gaussian blur on image sharpness. Furthermore, we consider object detection, a common computer vision application on three different state-of-the-art models, thus allowing us to characterize the relationship between object detection and sharpness. It was found that while image sharpness (MTF50) degrades from an average of 0.245cy/px to approximately 0.119cy/px;object detection performance stays largely robust within 0.58%(Faster RCNN), 1.45%(YOLOF) and 1.93%(DETR) across all respective held-out test sets. © This is an open access article published by the IET under the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://***/licenses/by/3.0/)

Temporal Feature Matters: A Framework for Diffusion Model Quantization

The Diffusion models, widely used for image generation, face significant challenges related to their broad applicability due to prolonged inference times and high memory demands. Efficient Post-Training Quantization (PTQ) is crucial to address these issues. However, unlike traditional models, diffusion models critically rely on the time-step for the multi-round denoising. Typically, each time-step is encoded into a hypersensitive temporal feature by several modules. Despite this, existing PTQ methods do not optimize these modules individually. Instead, they employ unsuitable reconstruction objectives and complex calibration methods, leading to significant disturbances in the temporal feature and denoising trajectory, as well as reduced compression efficiency. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel quantization framework that includes three strategies: 1) TIB-based Maintenance: Based on our innovative Temporal Information Block (TIB) definition, Temporal Information-aware Reconstruction (TIAR) and Finite Set Calibration (FSC) are developed to efficiently align original temporal features. 2) Cache-based Maintenance: Instead of indirect and complex optimization for the related modules, pre-computing and caching quantized counterparts of temporal features are developed to minimize errors. 3) Disturbance-aware Selection: Employ temporal feature errors to guide a fine-grained selection between the two maintenance strategies for further disturbance reduction. This framework preserves most of the temporal information and ensures high-quality end-to-end generation. How to accurately predict the Dow Jones index is an important issue in quantitative finance. This paper designs an LSTM-AdaBoost(Long Short-Term Memory and Adaptive Boosting) prediction model based on the Dow Jones index's characteristics. The AdaBoost algorithm was used to integrate multiple LSTM weak classifiers. By iteratively updating the weights of each version and combining the strategy, the improved robust classifier was formed, and the prediction for the Dow Jones index was finally obtained. Experimental results have shown that the prediction results obtained by the LSTM-AdaBoost model have been significantly higher than those of the traditional classification model, with an average increase of 43.76 percent in R_square. The establishment of this model provides a theoretical basis for predicting the Dow Jones index and provides ideas for the intersection of finance and computer industries. © 2021 IEEE.

Multivariate time series forecasting has extensive applications in urban computing, such as financial analysis, weather prediction, and traffic forecasting. Using graph structures to model the complex correlations among variables in time series, and leveraging graph neural networks and recurrent neural networks for temporal aggregation and spatial propagation stage, has shown promise. However, traditional methods' graph structure node learning and discrete neural architecture are not sensitive to issues such as sudden changes, time variance, and irregular sampling often found in real-world data. To address these challenges, we propose a method called Adaptive Graph structure Learning neural Rough Differential Equations (AGLRDE). Specifically, we combine dynamic and static graph structure learning to adaptively generate a more robust graph representation. Then we employ a spatio-temporal encoderdecoder based on Neural Rough Differential Equations (Neural RDE) to model spatio-temporal dependencies. Additionally, we introduce a path reconstruction loss to constrain the path generation stage. We conduct experiments on six benchmark datasets, demonstrating that our proposed method outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods. The results show that AGLRDE effectively handles aforementioned challenges, significantly improving the accuracy of multivariate time series forecasting. © 2015 IEEE.

In face-to-face communication, talkers perceive various affects and emotions of other talkers as the eye-impressions such as highlight or dilated pupil. In the previous studies, focusing on the eye-impressions in social robots, various expression methods such as changing the LED color or blinking the LED were proposed and developed. However, it is difficult to generate the affective expressions with the highlight that has an optical reflection characteristic on the surface of the eyeball by using the LED. Therefore, in order to enhance the eye-impressions of social robots, it is expected to develop an expressible method with the affective highlight. In this study, we proposed an affective highlight to enhance the eye-impressions of social robots. This method introduces a virtual lighting in virtual space and can generate rich affective expressions by controlling various parameters of the virtual lighting such as brightness or colors. In addition, we developed a speech-driven pupil response system that applied the affective highlight to the pupil response interface which has been developed. This system can generate the affective expressions by the dilation of pupil response that is synchronized with the talker’s speech as well as the highlight expression with talker’s intentional input. The effectiveness of the developed system with the affective highlight was demonstrated by sensory evaluations. © 2022 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
