A Study on New EPC-MPSI for an Inputless External Party to Compute the Intersection of Multiple Private Datasets

Private set intersection (PSI) is a privacy-preserving scheme that computes the intersection of two datasets without leaking any other information. Additionally, there is multiparty private set intersection (MPSI) to extend the number of parties for computing the intersection of multiple private datasets. In the traditional PSI and MPSI studies, protocol parties input their private datasets, and one or all of them can compute the intersection. However, there are some scenarios where an inputless external party requires the intersection between private datasets of other parties. Thus, the external party PSI protocols have been recently studied for applications such as pandemic contact tracing, computing human genome information and evaluating policy effects. However, they are limited in applications because the external party can compute the intersection of two datasets. In this paper, we propose a new external party compute-MPSI (EPC-MPSI) protocols that allow an external party to compute the intersection of multiple datasets. We provide the extension of the number of parties and solve the limitation of prior external party PSI protocols. In addition, we analyze the correctness, security and the efficiency in terms of communication and computation costs compared to the prior traditional MPSI protocols. © 2025 The Author(s). Human-computer interaction (HCI) is an evolving field of research that focuses on understanding and improving the communication and interaction between humans and computers. Over the past decades, we have seen many significant advances in this field, which have contributed to the widespread adoption and integration of technology into our daily lives. HCI research and development aims to design information technology systems to meet the needs and preferences of users. Usability, efficiency, accessibility and user satisfaction are important considerations in HCI design. This paper presents the results of a pilot study on user acceptance of HCIs. The results show that users are positive about and willing to use HCIs. © 2023 IEEE.

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Jordan. It is one of the main reasons of death among Jordanian adult citizens. Worldwide, nearly 13% of all deaths are due to Hypertension with nearly 8 million deaths yearly. Hence, this research is interested in the early prediction of this disease among Jordanian people. To achieve this main objective, Machine Learning (ML) is utilized through a large number of classification models and considering five well-known evaluation metrics. These classification models have been trained on a primary dataset that has been collected for the purpose of the research. The results revealed that Random Forest, Random Committee, and MultilayerPerceptron are the best classification models to handle the task of the early prediction of Hypertension in Jordan. © 2024 IEEE.

We study Voronoi games on temporal graphs as introduced by Boehmer et al. (IJCAI ’21) where two players each select a vertex in a temporal graph with the goal of reaching the other vertices earlier than the other player. In this work, we consider the reverse temporal Voronoi game, that is, a player wants to maximize the number of vertices reaching her earlier than the other player. Since temporal distances in temporal graphs are not symmetric in general, this yields a different game. We investigate the difference between the two games with respect to the existence of Nash equilibria in various temporal graph classes including temporal trees, cycles, grids, cliques and split graphs. Our extensive results show that the two games indeed behave quite differently depending on the considered temporal graph class. © 2024, Brown University. All rights reserved.

Federated learning (FL) is an emerging paradigm using a parameter server (PS) to coordinate multiple decentralized clients for training a common model without exposing their raw data. Despite its amazing capability in preserving data privacy, FL confronts two significant challenges that have not been sufficiently addressed by existing works, which are: 1) heterogeneous data distributed on clients given that the PS cannot alter data locations. 2) limited computation resources of FL clients who may conduct model training with mobile devices. To tackle these challenges, we propose a novel federated one-shot transferring of intermediate features (FedOTF) algorithm. More specifically, FedOTF consists of two stages: feature extraction and model reconstruction. To overcome challenge 1, clients in stage 1 only collaboratively train a small model in a federated manner, with the objective to extract features. In stage 2, intermediate features (generated by the small model trained by stage 1) are transferred from clients to the PS so that a large model can be trained to overcome challenge 2. In addition, the design of FedOTF is robust, which can flexibly diminish the number of communication rounds of stage 1 when network capacity is limited, and reduce the amount of exposed features when privacy is concerned. To verify the superiority of FedOTF, we conduct comprehensive experiments with real datasets. The experiment results demonstrate that FedOTF can significantly improve the model utility of FL because a better model can be finally obtained by the PS without incurring heavy computational load on clients. Besides, we conduct robustness evaluation of FedOTF which can achieve stable performance when varying network capacity and privacy requirement. © 2023 IEEE.

Named Entity Recognition (NER) is one of the crucial and vital subtasks that must be solved in most Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. However, constructing a NER system for the Sinhala Language is challenging. Because it comes under the category of low-resource languages. Therefore, the proposed approach attempted designing a mechanism to identify specific named entities in the sports domain. Firstly, a domain-specific corpus was built using Sinhala sport e-News articles. Then a semi-automated, rule-based component named as "Class_Label_Suggester" was built to annotate pre-defined named entities. After auto annotation, the outcome was further validated manually with a little effort. Finally, it was trained using the annotated data. Linear Perceptron, Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Multinomial Naive Bayes (MNB), and Passive Aggressive classifiers were used to train the NER model. Though, the above Machine Learning (ML) algorithms showed approximately 98% accuracy, the MNB model demonstrated highest accuracy for the identified class labels of which, 99.76% for 'Ground', 99.53% for 'School', 98.55% for 'Tournament', and 97.87% for 'Other' classes. Additionally, high precision values of the above classes were 81%, 72%, 62%, and 98% respectively. An accurately annotated Sinhala dataset and the trained Sinhala NER model are main contributions of the study. © 2022 IEEE.

This Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), facilitates the medical stop regarding real-time monitoring of patients, medical emergency management, remote surgery, patient information management, medical equipment, drug monitoring, etc. However, IoMT devices communicate with each other in an open environment that makes them vulnerable to a wide range of malicious threats from malicious entities. To protect the devices and their associated data, we designed a broadcast authentication scheme for IoMT devices using identity-based public key cryptography that exploits the lightweight features of the Hyper-Elliptic Curve (HEC). We then performed the security analysis based on the Random Oracle Model (ROM), in which we have proved that the proposed scheme is unforgeable under the hardiness of the hyperelliptic curve discrete logarithm problem. The proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of computational and communication overhead and the experimental results justify the superiority of the proposed work in comparison to the existing schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

software development companies commonly use Global software Development (GSD) in their industry. A competent Scrum team supports the success of the GSD project. This research aims to identify the game components in the form of types, elements, and technologies that contribute to building experience for the Scrum team in a GSD environment. We used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the Kitchenham and snowball method. From the 12 papers, we concluded that none of the games specifically focused on the competence of the Scrum team at GSD. The SLR results also identify ten game elements and technologies as a reference for game development to meet the challenges in GSD. The conclusion is that there are still great opportunities to develop a game that can improve the competence of the GSD Scrum team. Game development should refer to elements and identified technologies. © 2022 IEEE.

VGIS (Virtual Geographic Information System) Platform is a unified oilfield operations management platform based on MaaS (Management as a Service) that integrates advanced technologies such as AIoT (Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things), GIS (Geographic Information System), Digital Twin, and AR (Augmented Reality)/ VR (Virtual Reality). The VGIS platform connects, collects, integrates, analyses, and acts on disparate data sources to provide the oilfield with a centralized view to help make informed decisions fast, bring operational visibility across all assets to improve safety and operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve margins, provide comprehensive analytics and decision support, increase business agility, and reduce management complexity. This is a case study of the application of the VGIS platform Majnoon oilfield, Basrah, Iraq. VGIS digital transformation, production process, and KPIs (Key performance indicators) are highly managed taking oilfield management to a higher level globally, in this study, the objective is to address and resolve the issue of high costs associated with using cloud services by utilising a local Data Center (a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data). This approach involves directly uploading 3D maps to ensure faster service on the intranet, eliminating the need to pay for cloud *** aims providing a platform for researching and implementing monitoring and controlling processes in a more convenient and remote manner. The vGIS platform has emerged as a crucial instrument in the realm of disaster response and crisis management. This technology enables responders to rapidly evaluate, analyse, and respond to crucial information in real-time.
