Personalized patient representation learning (PPRL) is a critical element in clinical risk prediction. It aims to obtain a complete portrait of each patient based on Electronic Health Records (EHR). Although existing works have achieved remarkable progress in healthcare prediction, there are still three major issues. First, feature correlation is crucial for risk prediction, but it has not yet been fully exploited by existing works. Second, variation pattern of dynamic feature contains useful information about patient's physical status, but adaptive pattern recognition is still a challenge. Third, existing works usually adopt a two-stage embedding process to process each dimension of the EHR data. However, some useful low-level information for PPRL will be lost. To address these issues, in this paper, we propose a fine-grained PPRL architecture named FG RL- N et for clinical risk prediction based on EHR. Specifically, we propose a Medical Feature Correlation Detection Module (FCM) to effectively learn the feature correlations for each patient and a Temporal Variation Pattern Recognition Module (TVM) to effectively detect the variation patterns of each dynamic feature. Moreover, we design a Fine-Grained Representation Mechanism (FGRM) to preserve the low-level information (from both feature and visit dimensions) useful for risk prediction. In addition, in the stage of data preprocessing, We utilize generic medical classification knowledge to classify numerical dynamic data. We conduct the in-hospital mortality experiment and the decompensation experiment on a real-world dataset. The experiment results show that the FGRL-Net outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. Breast cancer is a significant global healthcare challenge, particularly in developing and underdeveloped countries, with profound physical, emotional, and psychological consequences, including mortality. Timely diagnosis and accurate treatment are crucial in addressing this issue. We propose the utilization of a feature selection technique to identify the most relevant features from among all features for breast cancer diagnosis, and show that Genetic Algorithms are impressive for this task. The study compares the results of GA with no selection and an alternative method, Principle Component Analysis (PCA). Three machine learning models, all based on supervised learning with data split into training and test data, are employed for binary classification using the selected feature subset. The evaluation metrics employed encompass accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Among the selected models, Random Forest demonstrates the most favorable outcomes, achieving an accuracy score of 0.96, precision score of 0.96, recall value of 0.98, and an F1-score of 0.97. These results underscore the effectiveness of GA in feature selection for breast cancer diagnosis. Consequently, the integration of Genetic Algorithms (GA) with Random Forest showcases the superior performance among the evaluated models. © 2023 IEEE.

Standards such as ISO 13849 and ISO 12100 enable users to model safety related control elements with safety functions, according to a specified architecture and required performance level. In this direction, a novel Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based assistant is introduced in this paper to aid in determining the required performance level parameter by indulging the user in a dialog-based conversation regarding hazard scenarios. This will help inexperienced machinery safety personnel (e.g. mechanical engineer) to get an overview of the safety engineering aspects, before consulting with safety experts for risk assessment. © 2022 IEEE.

The Paper explores different aspects of deep learning techniques and neural networks in the fields of healthcare, time-series forecasting, agriculture, and other relevant sectors through soft computing. The objective of the report is to examine the significant potential and applications of neural networks. While machine learning techniques called neural networks (NN) are utilized for audio, picture, and the processing of natural languages, it has huge implications in robotics where several machine learning algorithms are significantly required. Improvements in deep machine learning are also investigated in the article specifically in the fields of drug construction, genetics, recognizing faces, farming, biological medicine, biological informatics, medical treatment, natural language, multimedia analysis of data, and mobility prediction. However black box challenges and privacy concerns with data are often ignored in this research. The paper also outlines deep learning-driven data mining techniques for precisely predicting, displaying, evaluating, and classifying data. The report has also emphasized on addressing the potential privacy concerns and challenges associated to information representation. By reviewing recent literature sources about neural network techniques, the study proposes innovation strategies and potential improvement areas for the development of advanced technologies like deep learning and neural networks while addressing the key privacy concerns in data processing. © 2024 IEEE.

Information retrieval is vital in our daily lives, with applications ranging from job searches to academic research. In today’s data-driven world, efficient and accurate retrieval systems are crucial. Our research focuses on video data, using a system called LUMOS-DM: Landscape-based Multimodal Scene Retrieval Enhanced by Diffusion Model. This system leverages Vision Transformer and Diffusion Models, taking user-generated sketch images and text queries as input to generate images for video retrieval. Initial testing on a dataset of 100 h of global landscape videos achieved an 18.78% at Top-20 accuracy rate and 36.45% at Top-100 accuracy rate. Additionally, video retrieval has various applications, including generating data for advertising and marketing. We use a multi-modal approach, combining sketch and text descriptions to enhance video content retrieval, catering to a wide range of user needs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The proliferation of consumer data can be attributed to 'the Internet of Things (IoT),' which makes it easier to access and more detailed than before. In this research our purpose is to evaluate the effectiveness of a consumer behavior analysis model using data from IoT. The quality of the model is evaluated on multiple parameters - accuracy, predictability and business sense for marketing. It uses the analytics of huge amounts for data from IoT devices to predict patterns, customer preferences and trends. The proposed method called as Enhanced Neural Classification Logic (ENCL) is cross-validated with the already existing method, which is termed as Consumer behavior Forecasting Strategy (CBFS), and helps users to share gather or process information in a fast and cost-effective way through the proposed method. The results are useful to grasp the promise of IoT in more effective consumer behavior analysis. The research portrays the strengths, weaknesses and possible areas of improvement in this model which will be beneficial for both academic and industry practitioners. As such, the objective of this study is to show how an IoT-based consumer behavior analysis can increase business growth and customer satisfaction. The experimental evaluations demonstrate significant improvements in predictive performance over traditional methods, providing actionable insights for targeted marketing and strategic decision-making. The results highlight ENCL's potential to transform consumer behavior analysis by delivering more precise and nuanced understandings of market dynamics. © 2024 IEEE.

Continuous Integration (CI) is a popular software development practice that quickly verifies updates to codebases. To cope with the ever-increasing demand for faster software releases, CI acceleration approaches have been proposed; however, adoption of CI acceleration is not without risks. For example, CI acceleration products may mislabel change sets (e.g., a build labeled as failing that passes in an unaccelerated setting or vice versa) or produce results that are inconsistent with an unaccelerated build (e.g., the underlying reasons for failure differ between (un)accelerated builds). These inconsistencies threaten the trustworthiness of CI acceleration *** this paper, we propose an approach inspired by mutation testing to systematically evaluate the trustworthiness of CI acceleration. We apply our approach to YourBase, a program analysis-based CI acceleration product, and uncover issues that hinder its trustworthiness. First, we study how often the same build in accelerated and unaccelerated CI settings produce different mutation testing outcomes. We call mutants with different outcomes in the two settings "gap mutants". Next, we study the code locations where gap mutants appear. Finally, we inspect gap mutants to understand why acceleration causes them to survive. Our analysis of ten open-source projects uncovers 2,237 gap mutants. We find that: (1) the gap mutants account for 0.11%–23.50% of the studied mutants; (2) 88.95% of gap mutants can be mapped to specific source code functions and classes using the dependency representation of the studied CI acceleration product; and (3) 69% of gap mutants survive CI acceleration due to deterministic reasons that can be classified into six fault patterns. Our results show that even deterministic CI acceleration solutions suffer from trustworthiness limitations, and highlight the ways in which trustworthiness could be pragmatically improved.

Using WiFi Fingerprinting for indoor positioning is becoming increasingly popular due to its cost-effectiveness. However, to ensure the system can operate with high accuracy and stability, this technique requires a burden of data collection tasks from a dense distribution of reference points (RPs). To decrease the cost of data collection, as well as to improve the WiFi fingerprint database with irregular distribution of RPs, this study applies and compares different interpolation methods. Evaluating these methods in a public dataset including multiple sub-datasets with irregular distributions of RPs, the results highlight the Linear Barycentric interpolation (LB) as the most favorable method due to its low complexity and stable performance. The LB-based fingerprint database achieves an average interpolation error of less than 3 dBm compared to the original one. When applying the interpolated database to positioning tasks, it can help reduce acquisition costs by up to 50% while improving positioning accuracy by up to 11%. The study reveals the feasibility of interpolation in optimizing WiFi fingerprint data collection, especially in large and complex environments where regular distribution of RPs cannot be deployed. © 2024 IEEE.

Text classification is a technique for grouping articles into pre-defined categories. Prior to categorization, text documents have to be set up and organised in a form that is compatible with the data mining techniques. That has produced many term weighting techniques have been developed in the literature to improve the functionality of text categorization systems. This paper compares techniques for text classification based on when stop words are eliminated from the documents once and when they are not. We used an Arabic data set of 322 papers grouped into six subjects (health, politics, science, education, agriculture and finance) to research which is the influence of prior weighting of features approaches on classification outcomes with regard to accuracy, recall, precision, and F-measure values. Each document subset includes 50 documents, except the health one that includes 61. We carried out four experiments and checked results getting that only for precision, the term frequency feature weighting approach with stop word removal are more or less the same than for binary method. Moreover the conclusion for accuracy, recall and F-measure is that Feature weighting approach with stop word outperforms the Binary one. Additionally, if the phrase for weighting is the same for both methods, to remove stop word increases classification accuracy for all the experiments. © 2023 IEEE.
