In light of this unmistakable exponential data expansion, visual media archiving must be rethought. Human generated meta-data might not be sufficient for efficient data retrieval. Object detection and object recognition enable the generation of computer-generated meta data that improve the storage and retrieval of data. We present a semi-automated approach for preserving video footage that combines object identification and ontologies. This significantly cuts down on search time, data scrubbing by providing only the relevant information making for more efficient queries.

Numerous remote area applications welcome standalone renewable energy power generation systems or isolated microgrids (MGs). Due to the nature of solar and wind energy, the frequency deviation control (FDC) in hybrid MGs has become more complicated and critical than the conventional grid for power quality purposes. By using a coordination control strategy between a double-layered capacitor and a fuel cell, our mission here is to design a FDC system based on the PI controller which is tuned by an artificial neural network (ANN) in a multi-agent structure. To achieve this aim, a reinforcement learning technique is applied to train the ANN-based tuners. The performance of the proposed FDC system has been verified under different conditions by using real data to demonstrate the stability and robustness of the proposed controller. © 2022 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have boosted modern living. Tiny, frail high-density targets, low resolution, complicated backgrounds, noise, and poor real-time exposure performance have augmented due to UAV firms. Realtime recognition in high-altitude (HA) infrared thermal images is intricate. Our fresh OSTD-YOLOv8 is a multi-class target recognition tactic to tackle these issues and spot and classify objects on the HIT-UAV dataset. YOLOv8 is an effective advanced object detection model. Our OSTD-YOLOv8 model detects small objects in HA thermal images with 90% precision, 91.5% recall, 90.5% F1-score, 89.1% AP, and 98% mAP. Our unique approach delivers effective object recognition in difficult thermal imaging conditions. Consequently, this distinctive UAV-focused HA, thermal, target detection scheme can be used. © 2024 IEEE.

As anxiety becomes increasingly prevalent among youths especially university students, early prevention via anxiety disorder profiling is crucial. Nevertheless, most screening tools to date are not automated, labour-intensive and time-consuming. Mental health detection in online social networks (OSNs) using artificial intelligence (AI) can provide means for capturing overlooked behavioural attributes, but few are centred around anxiety detection. Internet of Things (IoT)’s increasing popularity enables bio-signals monitoring to aid in mental health care. However, minimum research has been devoted to IoT-based assistive technologies for anxiety, which currently are only used by individuals already diagnosed and actively monitored. This study proposes a novel approach to anticipatory anxiety detection for Malaysian university students aged between 18 and 25 inclusive as an early notification system using AI and IoT for bilingual Malay and English tweets and vital signs analysis respectively. Our result shows that Logistic Regression with Bag-of-Words (BoW) is the overall best performing model with 81.06% accuracy. The Arduino smartwatch sensor readings from the MAX30102 pulse oximeter sensor are used to determine different body conditions using a rule-based approach. The comparison test result between the prototype and conventional measuring devices shows the prototype’s ability to accurately distinguish vital signs with a relatively low Mean Absolute Percent Error (MAPE) rate of 10.92% and 1.51% for pulse rate and temperature respectively. Together, our proof-of-concept results indicate the potential of AI and IoT in deriving new measures of anxiety, by analysing social data combined with bio-signals monitoring to alert users regarding their anxiety state. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). There are some problems in the electric vehicle (EV) charging pile industry, such as the unreasonable location of charging station construction, low utilization rate of charging piles, and imprecise marketing strategies, which may elicit a negative response from EV users, cause colossal waste of resources and hinder the development of EVs. Based on the relevant charging pile data to be analyzed, this paper combines big data-related technologies to propose a big data framework for analyzing the charging pile data to solve the common charging service problems from a systemic perspective. The purpose of the framework is to provide decision-making reference information for charging pile operators, charging pile application operators and charging service marketers to improve the charging pile business more effectively. The framework is demonstrated by functional structure and technical structure.

The tremendous impact of road traffic accidents (RTAs) remains a global concern, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While most LMICs have limited budget to afford advanced traffic monitoring systems, it is necessary to develop feasible solutions for enhancing road safety in these regions. Recent studies have extensively explored the applicability of machine learning (ML) models to predict RTA severity in different regions. However, there is limited exploration of training and evaluating the performance of ML model from a multi-region perspective. Further investigation is also necessary to formulate a cost-effective implementation strategy for LMICs to deploy ML models for real-time prediction. Hence, this paper contributes by proposing R-TAP, which deploys a TabNet-based model on the cloud for multi-region RTA severity predictions. A web application is also developed to receive inputs and visualise the prediction results. The TabNet model is trained on a multi-region dataset consisting of 42 features, produced by combining the individual RTA datasets collected from Australia, Brazil, Ethiopia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. Evaluation with random forest and multinomial logistic regression showed that TabNet can achieve performance comparable to random forest. It also has the highest area under the receiver operating characteristics at 0.8857. R-TAP is also simulated using testing samples as real-time input, with an overall execution time of 4.104s per prediction. It is considered satisfactory and is expected to be useful for emergency responders to make informed decisions. This solution is expected to support LMICs in their roadmap towards enhanced road safety. Future research is essential to improve the predictive power and include datasets from more regions for a more inclusive RTA severity prediction.

Nowadays the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into human life is at the peak of its history, including natural language processing (NLP). Consequently, it is becoming more necessary than ever to find new effective solutions for data labeling, on which machine models will be trained and appropriate algorithms will be built. In this paper, we describe the process of sentiment analysis (SA), as well as review approaches at all stages of analysis, publicly available datasets and produced software solutions within the Russian and foreign markets. In addition, we have traced the line of development of approaches for evaluating Russian-language texts in order to take into account the latest and most effective solutions in future work.

Anomaly detection is the identification of instances that substantially deviate from the majority of the data and do not conform to a well-defined normal behavior. Investigating time series anomalies has become increasingly popular in recent years due to widely deployed IoT devices and sensors. Although most existing methods apply image anomaly detection algorithms directly on time series and commonly assume the data is IID (independent and identically distributed). However, in most realworld applications, the underlying data distribution alters over time. Changes in data over time are referred to as concept drift and can significantly degrade the efficacy of an anomaly detection model. Existing research also indicates that the majority of anomaly detection frameworks ignored concept drift, resulting in poor long-term model performance. This paper presents an ensemble-based, unsupervised anomaly detection framework that is adaptive to the concept drift in time series data. Both distribution and performance-based techniques are used to detect concept drift and update the model to ensure the framework’s longterm performance reliability. The proposed method is evaluated using a real-world univariate time series data that captures sea surface temperature data over a 2 -year period. By comparing our proposed framework to other state-of-the-art algorithms, we demonstrate our proposed method has obvious benefits in accuracy and long-term stability.

Ontologies are an essential component of semantic integration approaches for information systems . In a decentralized environment, each specification of the domain reflects an Ontological view. However, the semantics characterization of information systems in such decentralized environment poses a significant issue related to their integration. Information systems are viewed as independent intensional entities with their own beliefs, distinct from those held by others. Such autonomy is distorted by traditional extensional semantics. Other entities’ beliefs are introduced into a given entity, thus affecting their beliefs. Additionally, the information that one entity provides to another entity may not be consistent with the information known by the latter. We need an alternative semantics for information integration, which is not dependent on the extension, but rather on the underlying conceptualization. This paper proposes a classification of the environment where the information systems lives and a novel modelling paradigm for information integration using intensional logic to model the ontological views.
