Sri Lanka is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. However, tourists face various inconveniences due to the obsolescence of facilities. There are various tools designed to solve such problems. But they are scattered in different places and users have to use different tools. The biggest issue in the tourist sector is that travelers are unable to get the most out of their tours since there may be days when a large number of people visit the same location, causing the location to become overcrowded, and preventing tourists from enjoying their visit as anticipated. There are seasons when natural disasters occur, as well as human-centered crises. Also, there are situations when travelers feel helpless because they are unable to find the best tour guide for them. We developed a cost-effective, automatic, and efficient Machine Learning-based recommendation system as a result of this research. Based on past data on tourists and data received from the SLTDA, this research can provide the best trip plan with the tour guide and provide destination news alerts on regular basis. Furthermore, in order to achieve the best accuracy through the system, unique machine learning approaches were used in this study.

Robotic search and rescue (SAR) supports response teams by accelerating disaster assessment and by keeping operators away from hazardous environments. In the event of a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) disaster, robots are deployed to identify and locate radiation sources. Human responders then assess the situation and neutralize the danger. The presented system takes a step toward enhanced integration of robots into SAR teams. Integrating autonomous radiation mapping with semi-autonomous substance sampling and online analysis of the CBRN threat lets the human operator localize and assess the threat from a safe distance. Two LiDARs, an IMU, and a Geiger counter are used for mapping the surrounding area and localizing potential radiation sources. A mobile manipulator with six Degrees of Freedom manipulates valves and samples substances that are analyzed by an onboard Raman spectrometer. The human operator monitors the mission’s progression from a remote location defining target locations and directing the semi-autonomous manipulation processes. Diverse recovery behaviours aid robot deployment, system state monitoring, as well as recovery of hard- and software. Field tests showcase the capabilities of the presented system during trials at the CBRN disaster response challenge European Robotics Hackathon (EnRicH). In recent years, with the development of deep learning technology, the accuracy of image recognition has been significantly improved. Deep learning has been widely used in the recognition of single-label images. This project aims to intelligently classify domestic garbage images as application scenarios based on depth. Learn to carry out multi-label classification research on images containing multiple visual objects, and design and build a multi-label garbage image classification model to improve recognition accuracy and speed as the main research goal to conduct classification research on multi-label garbage images.

The next evolution of traditional energy systems towards smart grid will require end-consumers to actively participate and make informed decisions regarding their energy usage. Industry 4.0 facilitates such progress by allowing more advanced analytics and creating means for end-consumers and distributed grid assets to be modelled as their Digital twins (DT) equivalents, paving the way for asset-level analytics. Note-worthily, consumers’ comfort is crucial towards promotion of easy adoption of such models from consumers’ perspectives. This study presents the application of hybrid DT and multiagent reinforcement learning models for real-time estimation of end-consumers future energy behaviors while generating actionable recommendation feedback for improving their energy efficiency and enhancing end-user comfort.

Social media is a crucial aspect of modern society, shaping global communication and information exchange. Social media slang encompasses informal language expressions, abbreviations, and unconventional words on these platforms, serving purposes such as concise communication and identity establishment. Data analytics from social media slang plays a vital role in providing real-time trends, enhancing sentiment analysis, and improving the accuracy of predictive models by capturing evolving linguistic trends. This study aims to address gaps in existing social media slang analytics by proposing a three-step process for extracting and validating domain-specific social media slang terms, specifically focusing on the domain of anxiety prediction in the context of mental health. The proposed approach involves the identification of relevant users, extraction of social media slang terms, and validation by subject matter experts. A pilot study is conducted in the domain of anxiety prediction, employing a self-prepared questionnaire and involving participants aged 13-14 from schools in Selangor, Malaysia. The pilot study identifies ten social media slang terms associated with anxiety, validated by subject matter experts who are licensed mental health practitioners. The slang terms exhibit varying prevalence levels among adolescents, with some terms absent from popular slang dictionaries like Urban Dictionary. The findings highlight the need for extracting slang terms from pertinent users and subject matter expert validation in incorporating social media slang into more appropriate predictive analytics.

Listening state is a value reflecting the efficiency of lectures. As various human gesture recognition algorithms proposed, we could make advantages of these algorithms to construct a system to evaluate the listening state of the students With the spring of many outstanding algorithm of machine vision, the basic theories have reached matured to complete some complex assignment. The system proposed here is a kind of integration of these technologies, which also need innovation when it's actually implemented. Also, wasted surveillance video resources universally existed in our society, which should be made advantage of but not. Especially in the scene of the classrooms, the schools hold tremendous surveillance video resources. The system is proposed to analyze the state of the students through the human posture recognition. Its basic theory is the recognition of the human body key points, including the rather important points of one's body. We could extract these information from the videos firstly, and make some analysis such as the computation of some specific angles. After these treatment of data, we could get rough results of the state of the students, whose correct rate could be higher through machine learning. There are much efforts to be made before the system could fit the requirement of the specific environment, such as semantic segmentation and super resolution. The system would also have clear visualization when finally faces customers.

Patients in hospitals frequently exhibit psychological issues such as sadness, pessimism, eccentricity, and anxiety. However, hospitals normally lack tools and facilities to continuously monitor the psychological health of patients. It is desirable to identify depression in patients so that it can be managed by instantly providing better therapy. This can be possible by advances in machine learning for image processing with notable applications in the domain of emotion recognition using facial expressions. In this paper, we have proposed two different methods, i.e. facial expression detection and voice analysis, to predict emotions. For facial expression recognition, we have used two approaches, one is the use of Gabor filters for feature extraction with support vector machine for classification and another is using convolutional neural network (CNN). For voice analysis, we extracted mel-frequency cepstral coefficients from speech data and, based on those features, predicted the emotions of the speech using a CNN model. Experimental results show that our proposed emotion recognition methods obtained high accuracy and thus could be potentially deployed to real-world applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Dermatoglyphics, the study of unique ridge patterns on fingertips, plays a crucial role in fingerprint-based identification. However, skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and verruca vulgaris can distort these patterns. This distortion creates challenges for fingerprint matching systems in forensic science and biometric authentication. This paper proposes a Siamese network with a modified ResNet50 architecture and multihead attention mechanisms to improve fingerprint matching under such distortions. The Siamese network enables the system to compare fingerprint pairs effectively, even under distortions. The modified ResNet50 architecture captures intricate ridge patterns, while the multihead attention mechanisms focus on critical fingerprint regions. Overall, the proposed approach enhances the system’s ability to learn discriminative features. As a result, it can effectively differentiate between matched and unmatched fingerprint pairs, even in the presence of moderate to extreme noise. The proposed system was trained on the Sokoto coventry fingerprint dataset (SOCOFing) and a custom dataset. Experimental results demonstrate high accuracy, with the system achieving 99.47% accuracy under low noise conditions and 90% under moderate noise. However, performance declined to 55.56% under extreme distortions. A comparative analysis highlighted the superiority of the proposed system over widely used minutiae-based methods. The latter exhibited a significant drop in matching scores, falling below 15% for highly distorted fingerprints. These findings underscore the limitations of traditional fingerprint recognition techniques and highlight the effectiveness of proposed approach in handling dermatoglyphic distortions. © 2013 IEEE.

The explosive growth of pervasive and diverse digital products demands the importance of addressing emotional design within the sphere of product development. As a result, there has been a significant focus from both industry and academia on studying consumer perspectives related to a wide range of pervasive and digital products, adopting a variety of methods, tools, and resources to delve into user emotional experiences. However, a comprehensive study focusing on users' emotions, incorporating a precisely defined semantic or lexicon tailored for this type of user interface (UI) product design remains elusive. Therefore, this study aims to synthesize and validate a comprehensive array of emotional keywords applicable for pervasive and digital products through an extensive literature search and a rigorous validation procedure involving language experts. The result is a meticulously refined set of 175 keywords that will serve as a valuable point of reference for all endeavors associated with evaluating and configuring the emotional structure of pervasive and digital product UI experiences. The study's findings have the potential to provide valuable guidance to industry practitioners and academic researchers, contributing to the improvement of UI design landscape and the development of new systems by enhancing their insight into users' emotional experiences through the utilization of pertinent emotional keywords in a wide range of digital and pervasive UI product designs.

With the growing environmental concern, the demand for electric vehicle is increasing in India. However, the limited existing charging facilities slow down the rate of adoption in the market. Presently, the solar-based charging system is gaining popularity, due to its low greenhouse gas emission. In this study, a case study for different solar charging systems suited in Delhi is presented. The economic and environmental analysis of different solar-based EV charging systems utilized for charging three types of commercial EVs such as 2, 3, and 4-W is explained. The cost of energy required for 100 km drive is lower with vehicle integrating PV charging system;however, it can act as a supportive system for driving range improvement. The analysis shows that the economically solar rooftop charging system is suitable for all types of EVs. The CO2 emission produced by all types of solar-based EV charging systems is lower than coal-based charging systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2021.
