Mixed reality systems that integrate the real and digital worlds have recently gained popularity. The development of mixed reality devices in the form of wearable devices has been a significant trend in recent years. Key challenges in designing wearable mixed reality devices include reducing power consumption, enhancing productivity, and minimizing the size of the device. To address these challenges, neural processors are being incorporated into mixed reality systems. These are specialized hardware accelerators for convolutional neural network (CNN) processing. The use of neural processors is due to the fact that most environmental analysis and visualizations in mixed reality rely on CNNs. The use of these energy-efficient, high-performance processing devices enables increased comfort in using the wearable device through the high-performance processing of environmental data on a compact device. The paper is devoted to the design of the microarchitecture of a neural processor for hardware acceleration of CNN processing based on the author's architecture of processor. The paper presents various microarchitectural solutions that can be used to accelerate CNN processing. We explore methods to optimize hardware resources and reduce time required for CNN processing. To achieve high throughput in pipelined computation, different algorithms for convolution calculations in a systolic array are examined. Based on the results of this research, we provide estimates of the characteristics of the neural processor with the proposed microarchitecture. © 2024 SPIE.

The utilization of Data-Driven Machine Learning (DDML) models in the healthcare sector poses unique challenges due to the crucial nature of clinical decision-making and its impact on patient outcomes. A primary concern in this domain is the data quality that forms the basis for these models, which is essential for their effectiveness. While numerous studies are dedicated to leveraging Machine Learning (ML) to enhance patient care, a substantial gap exists in understanding and evaluating the quality of training data before training ML models. This issue is exacerbated by the lack of well-defined standards to ensure that data characteristics align with the specific goals of ML in healthcare. To address this, our study introduces a conceptual three-dimensional framework focusing on data accuracy, completeness, and consistency aimed at assessing and improving the quality of training data. This framework is designed to enhance the performance, predictability, and interpretability of healthcare-specific ML models and reduce biases, thus bridging current research gaps and laying the groundwork for future developments in ML-driven healthcare systems. This paper presents the initial step for our proposed Data Quality Framework (DQF), which addresses the three dimensions mentioned above. It discusses its potential implications and applications in healthcare data, and its main goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the proposed DQF, illustrating its significance in advancing healthcare data quality and ultimately improving patient outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN's hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model's potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution. © 2025 IEEE.

School bus contributes positively to reducing the number of cars on the road, thereby reducing the environmental impact of cars. It also dramatically relieves working parents, who do not have to pick up and drop off their children separately in their private vehicles. However, the irregularity of the bus arrival times often leads to an extended waiting time for students at the bus stops, potentially compromising the students' safety. The communication barrier between schools, parents and bus drivers is also a significant challenge, mainly when a delay occurs during the transit of the students. This paper presents TOST (to-school-together), a school bus monitoring and management system for schools and parents. The school administrators, parents, and bus drivers are connected in one comprehensive school bus system. The proposed system provides realtime updates on the bus status, allowing peace of mind and easing the burden of parents, school administrators, and bus drivers. The design of TOST is based on feedback from the system stakeholders collected via a survey. We draw a complete understanding of the existing issues by analyzing the feedback. Finally, we have implemented the system using state-of-the-art technologies to address the identified issues and fulfil the system requirements. © 2023 IEEE.

This study presents a general optimal trajectory planning(GOTP)framework for autonomous vehicles(AVs)that can effectively avoid obstacles and guide AVs to complete driving tasks safely and ***,we employ the fifth-order Bezier curve to generate and smooth the reference path along the road *** coordinates are then transformed to achieve the curvature continuity of the generated *** the road constraints and vehicle dynamics,limited polynomial candidate trajectories are generated and smoothed in a curvilinear coordinate ***,in selecting the optimal trajectory,we develop a unified and auto-tune objective function based on the principle of least action by employing AVs to simulate drivers’behavior and summarizing their manipulation characteristics of“seeking benefits and avoiding losses.”Finally,by integrating the idea of receding-horizon optimization,the proposed framework is achieved by considering dynamic multi-performance objectives and selecting trajectories that satisfy feasibility,optimality,and *** simulations and experiments are performed,and the results demonstrate the framework’s feasibility and effectiveness,which avoids both dynamic and static obstacles and applies to various scenarios with multi-source interactive traffic ***,we prove that the proposed method can guarantee real-time planning and safety requirements compared to drivers’manipulation.

The contemporary context of abundant digital dissemination inherently gives rise to the need for media protection and the clear identification of ownership rights. This paper responded to this nagging issue of unauthorized media capture by developing a new digital watermarking approach uniting the Discrete Wavelet Transform DWT, Discrete Cosine Transform DCT, and Schur matrix factorization. The proposed watermark, which was a positive vector uniformly distributed, presented a high degree of robustness to several adversarial operating conditions, including histogram equalization, salt and pepper noise, ripple impact, smoothing attack, and cropping. The obtained results reveal the effectiveness of our approach. The correlation coefficient between watermarked and original images remains exceptionally high at 0.999998, ensuring minimal visual distortion. Mean Squared Error (MSE) graphs for both high-frequency (HH) and low-frequency (LL) domains demonstrate negligible changes after attacks, confirming the watermark's robustness. Notably, the watermark extraction process remains successful even after histogram equalization, as indicated by significantly lower MSE compared to random vectors. Moreover, the average processing times for different attacks are promising;Histogram Equalization and Salt and Pepper attacks each took 0.3 s, Ripple Attack required 0.28 s, Smoothing Attack completed in 0.29 s, and the Cropping Attack took 0.6 s. The robustness of our approach appears against the salt and pepper attack, which historically presented a vulnerability when employing Schur matrix factorization in image watermarking, indicating the novelty of and this contribution to improving media ownership verification. By combining disparate transformation methodologies, this technique offers a promising avenue for reinforcing the integrity and authenticity of digital media, thereby strengthening the foundations of intellectual property rights in the digital domain. © The Author(s), und

Application of data twinning based on deep time series model in smart city traffic flow prediction

This paper introduces an intelligent traffic flow prediction system that combines data twinning and deep learning, aiming to improve the prediction accuracy and model adaptability by integrating grey prediction model (GM(1,1)), long-short-term memory network (LSTM) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The system construction starts from physical layer data acquisition, deals with missing data through smoothing and interpolation, and applies the GM(1,1) model to construct a digital twin layer for preliminary prediction. The information fusion mechanism combines real-time data and forecast data to optimize the model inputs, and the PSO algorithm is used to optimize the model parameters. The LSTM model is used as a deep time-series model, and combined with the output of the data twin prediction to make a comprehensive prediction, and at the same time, feature engineering is utilized to enhance the model performance. The system implements dynamic feedback adjustment to optimize the model in real time according to the prediction error. Empirical analysis shows that the LSTM model with integrated data twin (LSTM + DT) outperforms the traditional model in prediction accuracy, stability, and generalization ability, especially in peak hours, holidays, and emergency response, and provides a reliable solution for intelligent traffic management despite the long training time. © The Author(s) 2025.

This study presents a significant improvement in the detection and diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) in bi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (bpMRI) by adapting the nnU-Net framework. We address the inherent limitations of traditional imaging analysis techniques by modifying the loss function used in nnU-Net, replacing the default combination of Cross-Entropy and soft Dice loss with a novel integration of Cross-Entropy loss and Focal loss. This modification targets class imbalance and enhances the detection sensitivity for less represented, clinically significant lesions, which are crucial for effective csPCa management while minimizing false diagnosis. Employing a semi-supervised learning approach, the modified nnU-Net was trained and validated on the PI-CAI (Prostate Imaging: Cancer AI) Public Training dataset (1500 cases), the current benchmark dataset for csPCa detection and diagnosis. It was also tested on the PI-CAI Hidden Testing cohort dataset consisting of 100 unseen cases. These datasets offer a comprehensive and diverse collection of prostate MRI exams, providing a robust foundation for model training and testing. We conducted a rigorous 5-fold cross-validation to ensure the robustness and reproducibility of our findings. The model's performance was evaluated with Average Precision (AP) at the lesion level and Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristics curve (AUROC) at the patient level. Our model with AUROC and AP of 0.824 and 0.603 respectively on the Hidden Tuning cohort, outperformed the state-of-the-art U-Net, nnDetection models, and other nnU-Net variants. This work contributes to ongoing efforts to refine diagnostic tools in medical imaging, offering the potential for more accurate and timely prostate cancer screenings. © 2024 IEEE.

Anomaly detection is the identification of instances that substantially deviate from the majority of the data and do not conform to a well-defined normal behavior. Investigating time series anomalies has become increasingly popular in recent years due to widely deployed IoT devices and sensors. Although most existing methods apply image anomaly detection algorithms directly on time series and commonly assume the data is IID (independent and identically distributed). However, in most realworld applications, the underlying data distribution alters over time. Changes in data over time are referred to as concept drift and can significantly degrade the efficacy of an anomaly detection model. Existing research also indicates that the majority of anomaly detection frameworks ignored concept drift, resulting in poor long-term model performance. This paper presents an ensemble-based, unsupervised anomaly detection framework that is adaptive to the concept drift in time series data. Both distribution and performance-based techniques are used to detect concept drift and update the model to ensure the framework's longterm performance reliability. The proposed method is evaluated using a real-world univariate time series data that captures sea surface temperature data over a 2 -year period. By comparing our proposed framework to other state-of-the-art algorithms, we demonstrate our proposed method has obvious benefits in accuracy and long-term stability. © 2024 IEEE.
