The constant development of dense neural models leads to improved search quality. It is crucial to adapt these models to meet performance requirements. Solutions like SPLADE or SparseEmbed address this by solving the ranking task, whereas our work proposes addressing the simplified task of sparsifying dense vector representations. This approach facilitates the faster adaptation of new dense models for use with efficient inverted indexes. The importance of the independence property for sparse space features, achieved through the use of iVAE, is demonstrated. Additionally, the model is trained to maintain the ranking properties of the dense model, which in our case was a BERT model. As a result, the obtained model showed search quality close to the original BERT model. The proposed sparsification approach can be applied to other tasks requiring sparse spaces by adding new or replacing existing properties of the sparse space. Thus, the paper describes the main aspects of a sparsifier model applied to the task of information retrieval.

Breast cancer is a disease that is prevalent all over the world, and that is essential for the efficient treatment and care of breast cancer patients who are monitored remotely. However, traditional conventional centralized systems for patient monitoring face challenges in providing effective and efficient care for breast cancer patients, including limited access to medical records, ineffective communication, and patient participation. Fragmentation of records and difficulty in obtaining information can hinder patient care in terms of both privacy and data security. The proposed system uses machine learning, blockchain, smart contracts, hybrid access control, and hybrid intrusion prevention and detection to diagnose breast cancer decentralized. The technology analyses medical data using advanced machine learning algorithms to diagnose breast cancer accurately and provide healthcare practitioners with relevant insights. The blockchain stores patient information, diagnostic results, and metadata transparently and securely to protect data integrity and privacy. Smart contracts automate and enforce rules, securing data and improving diagnostic workflow. User roles and attributes are used to manage access to sensitive data and improve collaboration. Patients, doctors, and researchers have different permits and limits. Secures granular data and prevents unauthorized access. Scalability and network congestion are addressed via a hybrid network management system. The system optimizes resource allocation, load balancing, and data transfer by integrating centralized and decentralized methodologies. These features reduce delays and assure seamless operation. Experimental results reveal that the suggested system detects breast cancer more accurately than centralized methods. The complexity of the entire process of supply chain management (SCM) is quite cumbersome and traditional way of handling it is devoid of proper authentication and security and very often suffers from human errors in dealing with flaws in quality control process of SCM. While it may have started with shipment tracking, the outcome of using IoT on supply chains has spread to every link in the chain. For instance, manufacturers are employing Internet-enabled sensors in production to find product faults, resulting in higher-quality production runs. Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) is a defense countermeasure that exploits the exclusive, unrepeatable features of hardware components to generate distinct cryptographic keys or identifiers, typically for a semiconductor device like an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The distinctive proof of identity of IoT devices in the supply chain is employed by means of PUFs as inviolable IDs. Blockchain, the distributed, immutable ledger, on the other hand is the disruptive technology that provides higher security as compared to traditional centralized systems. The integration of PUF and blockchain proves to be quite interesting while handling the above issues of authentication. A smart contract on the blockchain is a software code that executes spontaneously as and when the conditions of the contract or agreement are satisfied. Hence after authentication process the results are fed to blockchain smart contract for the final validation. This paper presents a novel permissioned blockchain smart contract-based lightweight authentication scheme for SCM using PUF of IoT known as SPUFChain. Informal and formal security analysis (using AVISPA and BAN logic) of the proposed framework show its efficiency to resist several threat scenarios like man-in-the middle, non-repudiation, impersonation, replay attacks and many other security features as compared to other related schemes. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine-metabolic disorder affecting about 10-13% of women during reproductive age worldwide, often leads to irregular menstruation, infertility, obesity, and long-term health risks such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In this paper, clinical data from PCOS patients and healthy control group were collected from ten hospitals containing 37 key indicators such as age, weight, BMI, menstrual cycle, etc. BP (Back Propagation) Neural Network prediction models were constructed and compared using the collected data and the cross-validation method was used for parameter tuning. It was found that BP Neural Network performed particularly well on the test set, and both demonstrated high prediction accuracy and generalization ability which provided strong evidence for the early identification and early valuable intervention opportunities for PCOS patients. © 2025 IEEE.

Data preparation is crucial in every machine learning approach, particularly when applied to detecting claims in the automotive industry. The challenge of managing highdimensional feature spaces and imbalanced data becomes even more pronounced with the proliferation of IoT devices, which generate vast amounts of data over time. Machine learning models trained on such imbalanced datasets often yield unreliable and inaccurate predictions. Thus, addressing these issues during the data pre-processing phase is critical. In this paper, we introduce a novel two-dimensional optimization (TDO) strategy to tackle the problem of imbalanced data in fault detection, specifically in the context of IoT-enhanced automotive systems. We leverage a heuristic optimization technique known as the Genetic Algorithm to simultaneously reduce both the number of data point tuples and the feature space. Additionally, we evaluate the effectiveness of two-dimensional reduction using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Whale Optimization algorithms. Our empirical results, derived from data collected from thousands of IoT-equipped vehicles, demonstrate the promise of our proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

The urgent need for early detection and intervention in colorectal cancer highlights the importance of automating colorectal polyp detection. Despite the use of deep learning techniques for polyp detection from medical images, these methods often struggle with issues such as skewed data distribution and class imbalances. In this study, we introduce PolyLite, a lightweight transformer-based model designed to balance performance and efficiency. PolyLite features a custom SegFormer encoder that takes advantage of its lightweight design, and a decoder that uses a multi-scale attention network (MA-NET) to achieve an optimal balance between accuracy and efficiency. To improve accuracy and reduce false negatives, we incorporate a reverse attention layer that effectively counteracts input mask attention during training. This refocuses the model's efforts to better learn non-polyp regions. PolyLite undergoes a two-stage training process, beginning with pre-training on the ImageNet dataset and then fine-tuning on the Kvasir-SEG dataset. We conduct rigorous evaluations on three complex datasets: CVC-ClinicDB, CVC-ColonDB, and ETIS-LaribPolypDB. Empirical results demonstrate PolyLite's superiority over existing techniques, as evidenced by its performance in terms of Intersection over Union and Dice scores. This validates its effectiveness and scalability in polyp segmentation, making complex and computationally intensive architectures unnecessary. © 2023 IEEE.

The growing field of Content-Based Medical Image Retrieval (CBMIR) plays an integral role in the diagnosis and treatment plan of numerous diseases, including cancer. However, the effective representation of gigapixel medical images via a large number of extracted features remains a challenging task, crucially influencing other processes in a digital workflow. In this paper, we propose a novel QR code representation strategy to enhance retrieval performance. Unlike the traditional one-dimensional binary representation methods (i.e., barcodes), this 2D approach captures more intricate and informative patterns from the features by differentiating each pair of features resulting in a 2D binary vector. We delve into three distinct QR code generation strategies, namely, the Thresholding QR, the MinMax QR, and the Hybrid QR, each offering unique strengths. Our experiments on representing whole slide images of the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset reveal that while the Hybrid QR tends to provide balanced performance, there are instances where the other two methods outshine. Even though this approach requires more memory usage, the considerable enhancement in accuracy justifies this trade-off;obviously, in medical applications, accuracy holds the highest priority. Hence, the findings indicate that QR codes can effectively improve the performance of CBMIR systems by not only accelerating the retrieval process but also increasing the accuracy of image retrieval, leading to potentially more accurate diagnoses and treatment planning. © 2023 IEEE.

Sorting and searching are critical processes for effecttive data analysis. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of various sorting and searching algorithms and compare their time and space complexities on both sorted and unsorted data. The algorithms we analyzed include six common sorting algorithms (insertion, radix, bucket, merge, bubble, and quick sort) and three search algorithms (linear, binary, and jump search). The results of our study provide insights into the best algorithms to use for different input sizes and types of data. It was found that for small input sizes, all algorithms perform similarly, but for larger input sizes, insertion and radix sorts are better for time complexity while bubble sort is better for space complexity. Additionally, jump search outperformed linear and binary search algorithms in both time and space complexity. Besides, difference between time and space complexity of sorted and unsorted data was significant. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, we enhance information security practices by leveraging the CatBoost classifier within the challenging domain of network intrusion detection. Building upon the foundation of machine learning techniques in identifying FTP and SSH brute force attacks, our investigation introduces a refined CatBoost classifier approach by addressing the escalating sophistication of these attacks, our research meticulously analyzes the comprehensive CSE-CIC-IDS2018 and CICIDS2017 datasets. Through detailed feature selection, hyperparameter optimization, and class balancing with techniques like SMOTENC, our CatBoost model achieves high accuracy, with a rate of 99.9964% and low false alarm rate. Notably, the model demonstrates robust performance metrics, including a high F1 score over iterations, minimal loss, and a near-perfect Matthew's correlation coefficient (MCC), signifying its precision and reliability. A distinctive aspect of our study is the extensive application of SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) values, providing deep insights into the model's decision-making process. These include Mean Absolute SHAP values and SHAP Value Distributions, which elucidate the significant impact and contribution of individual features to the model's predictions. Moreover, the model exhibits impressive computational efficiency, maintaining a high average processing speed of 5 million samples per second, that underscores its suitability for real-time security applications. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the CatBoost classifier in accurately identifying complex network intrusion patterns. Our investigation underscores the practical benefits of applying the CatBoost classifier in information security, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of cyber defense mechanisms with improved efficiency and interpretability.

Feature selection is an expensive challenging task in machine learning and data mining aimed at removing irrelevant and redundant features. This contributes to an improvement in classification accuracy, as well as the budget and memory requirements for classification, or any other post-processing task conducted after feature selection. In this regard, we define feature selection as a multi-objective binary optimization task with the objectives of maximizing classification accuracy and minimizing the number of selected features. In order to select optimal features, we have proposed a binary Compact NSGA-II (CNSGA-II) algorithm. Compactness represents the population as a probability distribution to enhance evolutionary algorithms not only to be more memory-efficient but also to reduce the number of fitness evaluations. Instead of holding two populations during the optimization process, our proposed method uses several Probability Vectors (PVs) to generate new individuals. Each PV efficiently explores a region of the search space to find non-dominated solutions instead of generating candidate solutions from a small population as is the common approach in most evolutionary algorithms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first compact multi-objective algorithm proposed for feature selection. The reported results for expensive optimization cases with a limited budget on five datasets show that the CNSGA-II performs more efficiently than the well-known NSGA-II method in terms of the hypervolume (HV) performance metric requiring less memory. The proposed method and experimental results are explained and analyzed in detail. © 2023 IEEE.
