The detection of cyberattacks has been increasingly emphasized in recent years, focusing on both infrastructure and people. Conventional security measures such as intrusion detection, firewalls, and encryption are insufficient in protecting cyber systems against growing and changing threats. In order to address this problem, scholars have explored reinforcement learning (i.e., RL) as a potential solution for intricate cybersecurity decision-making difficulties. Nevertheless, the use of RL faces several obstacles, including dynamic attack scenarios, insufficient training data, and the challenge of replicating real-world complexities. This study presents a novel framework that uses deep reinforcement learning (i.e., DRL) to simulate harmful cyberattacks and improve cybersecurity. This study presents an agent-based framework that is capable of ongoing learning and adaptation in a dynamic network security environment. The agent determines the optimal course of action by considering the current state of the network and the rewards it receives for its decisions. The CIC-IDS-2018 database, constructed using Python 3.7 programming, was used. The conducted studies yielded outstanding results, with a detection accuracy of 98.82% achieved for the CIC-IDS-2018 database in cyber-attack classification. © 2025 by the authors of this article. In 2023, Turkiye faced a series of devastating earthquakes and these earthquakes affected millions of people due to damaged constructions. These earthquakes demonstrated the urgent need for advanced automated damage detection models to help people. This study introduces a novel solution to address this challenge through the AttentionPoolMobileNeXt model, derived from a modified MobileNetV2 architecture. To rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of the model, we meticulously curated a dataset comprising instances of construction damage classified into five distinct classes. Upon applying this dataset to the AttentionPoolMobileNeXt model, we obtained an accuracy of 97%. In this work, we have created a dataset consisting of five distinct damage classes, and achieved 97% test accuracy using our proposed AttentionPoolMobileNeXt model. Additionally, the study extends its impact by introducing the AttentionPoolMobileNeXt-based Deep Feature engineering (DFE) model, further enhancing the classification performance and interpretability of the system. The presented DFE significantly increased the test classification accuracy from 90.17% to 97%, yielding improvement over the baseline model. AttentionPoolMobileNeXt and its DFE counterpart collectively contribute to advancing the state-of-the-art in automated damage detection, offering valuable insights for disaster response and recovery efforts. © The Author(s) 2024.

A large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed,new operators are automatically designed in this work,which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different *** work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. This work then deduces the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators, and proposes a principled approach for the automated design of operators, which searches for high-performance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-the-art ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000decision variables.

Frequently, individuals undergo specific episodes of mental health challenges throughout their lifetime. But the COVID pandemic has triggered a surge in mental health disorders arising from isolation, monotonous routines, demanding workloads, financial disparities, and disruptions to daily schedules. Furthermore, the global pandemic has induced constant anxiety and stress. Beyond the pandemic, the competition and intense pressure of the modern world impact mental health. Access to advanced mental health solutions and the necessary familiarity remain limited for most of the population. Given the integration of technology into daily life, diverse remedies, including mobile and web applications, have emerged to tackle the escalating challenge of mental health disorders. This study proposes an accessible and cost-effective approach that employs machine learning to detect stress levels and discern user emotions from journal entries and facial expressions while integrating self-journaling, video recommendations, and visual content generation to stimulate positive emotions and relieve stress. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern streaming data categorization faces significant challenges from concept drift and class imbalanced data. This negatively impacts the output of the classifier, leading to improper classification. Furthermore, other factors such as the overlapping of multiple classes limit the extent of the correctness of the output. This work proposes a novel framework for integrating data pre-processing and dynamic ensemble selection, by formulating the classification framework for the nonstationary drifting imbalanced data stream, which employs the data pre-processing and dynamic ensemble selection techniques. The proposed framework was evaluated using six artificially generated data streams with differing imbalance ratios in combination with two different types of concept drifts. Each stream is composed of 200 chunks of 500 objects described by eight features and contains five concept drifts. Seven pre-processing techniques and two dynamic ensemble selection methods were considered. According to experimental results, data pre-processing combined with Dynamic Ensemble Selection techniques significantly delivers more accuracy when dealing with imbalanced data streams. © 2023 IEEE.

Dementia, characterised by cognitive decline, has emerged as a significant global health concern, with a new case diagnosed every 3 seconds worldwide. This study addresses the challenges faced by dementia carers through an innovative approach that combines Progressive Web App (PWA) technology with machine learning and GPS trajectory analysis, customised to aid in care. The proposed method identifies and addresses gaps in existing research, aiming to improve the lives of individuals in the early stages of dementia and their carers by offering real-time anomaly detection and alerts based on patient trajectory data. The methodology encompasses several pivotal stages: Data acquisition and transmission involve collecting and relaying patient trajectory data to the cloud;the isolation forest technique, a sophisticated anomaly detection method, identifies deviations from normal behaviour within patient trajectories. Real-time anomaly detection and alert generation provide swift notification to carers in the event of abnormal patient movements. The approach also encompasses carer engagement and response dynamics. Carers play a crucial role in determining the veracity of detected anomalies and responding accordingly. Based on carer feedback, the system adapts and updates its algorithm for symptom detection and threshold setting. In conclusion, the integrated strategy presented in this study offers an innovative and effective approach to enhancing the quality of care for individuals with dementia and their carers, paving the way for enhanced patient monitoring and carer engagement. © 2023 IEEE.

Liver diseases represent a significant challenge to global healthcare systems, necessitating accurate and timely diagnosis for effective intervention. However, the intricate nature of liver tumor multi-classification remains a daunting obstacle. In this work, we provide a novel framework that integrates state-of-the-art technologies, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), and Enhanced Channel Attention (ECA), within a deep learning architecture. Leveraging the comprehensive Duke Liver dataset, our approach synthesizes GAN-generated data to augment the training dataset and employs attention mechanisms to discern crucial details within medical images. Our ensemble model, incorporating CBAM with VGG19, achieves a remarkable accuracy of 99.29% in liver tumor classification. This research heralds a significant advancement in liver disease diagnosis, offering a promising avenue to improve patient outcomes. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2024.

Weapon and gun violence have recently become a pressing issue today. The degree of these crimes and activities has risen to the point of being termed as an epidemic. This prevalent misuse of weapons calls for an automatic system that detects weapons in real-time. Real-time surveillance video is captured and recorded in almost all public forums and places. These videos contain abundant raw data which can be extracted and processed into meaningful information. This paper proposes a novel pipeline consisting of an ensemble of convolutional neural networks with distinct architectures. Each neural network is trained with a unique mini-batch with little to no overlap in the training samples. This paper will present several promising results using multiple datasets associated with comparing the proposed architecture and state-of-the-art (SoA) models. The proposed pipeline produced an average increase of 5% in accuracy, specificity, and recall compared to the SoA systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Virtual Knowledge Graph (VKG) is known as a data integration paradigm used to efficiently manage the heterogeneity of richly structured data that is common inside several organizations, in inter-organizational settings, and more openly on the Web. Although such a paradigm continues to gain importance in both foundational and applied research, updates in VKG systems remain an open challenge that has received less attention. Yet, a solution to such a problem would be of great importance, as it would allow VKG systems to be full-fledged, thus allowing end-users to fully manage source data through the lens of the ontology they are exposed to. This research aims to propose a comprehensive framework for instance-level updates in VKGs, where updates posed over the ontology have to be translated into source-level updates and, more importantly, how the side effects related to the propagation of ontology-based updates to the underlying data source can be minimized. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
