Recently, MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network) researchers have shown increased interest towards using mobile robot technology for their testbed platforms. Despite the existence of articles that discuss the usage of mobile robot technology pertaining to MANET testbed from the perspective of MANET researcher, the discussion provided in the papers are rather lacklustre as it is not the sole purpose of those articles. Hence, this review aims to discuss MANET testbeds that were facilitated with mobile robot technology from previous undertaken researches. With the wealth of information provided in this paper, it is hoped that this paper will be the ultimate source of reference for other MANET researchers who need to choose the most suitable mobile robots with real mobility in their MANET testbeds. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

A new view is given to supervised classification problems by precedents on the basis of logical approaches and the possibility of their application in medicine. The basic logical and logical statistical models of classification (basic definitions, search, processing, and application of logical regularities of classes (LRCs);transition to other feature spaces;and the method of optimal reliable decompositions) and their verification are presented. Numerous applications in medicine and two problems of qualification assessment and choice of the treatment method are considered. © 2018, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

In this paper some preliminary results of network anomaly detection for resource-constrained systems have been presented. All described algorithms are embedded into a three-tier system application. The presented solution is a response to nowadays trends in computer/network security domain that indicate gradual shifting from signature-based anomaly detection typically based on some selected statistical measures toward systems that are based on behavioural analysis of computer systems and/or networks. The presented system requirements, explain relevant terminology as well as we include some selected results and their analysis. The solution is potentially destined for very resource-constrained systems (IoT specifically), all tests were carried out in an example network to additionally analyse their effect of the presented approach on the computer resources.

There is growing number of research efforts in developing auto-scaling algorithms and tools for cloud resources. Traditional performance metrics such as CPU, memory and bandwidth usage for scaling up or down resources are not sufficient for all applications. For example, modeling and simulation experimentation is usually expected to yield results within a specific timeframe. In order to achieve this, often the quality of experiments is compromised either by restricting the parameter space to be explored or by limiting the number of replications required to give statistical confidence. In this paper, we present early stages of a deadline-based simulation experimentation framework using a micro-services auto-scaling approach. A case study of an agent-based simulation of a population physical activity behavior is used to demonstrate our framework.

Computer science is one of the fastest changing area and we constantly witness novelties and therefore it is extremely important to also introduce new approaches for computer science education and introduce significant change into curricula. This paper presents the experience in using agent middleware, which has been initially developed as part of the research project in agent oriented graduate-level course. We present the course structure, the tools, teachers’ and students’ experiences with regard to the course delivery. Experiences with the introduction of the teamwork in the course, and characteristics particularly related to the specific methodology have been elaborated. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2019.

Various stress measures can be used in generalized version of Sammon’s mapping. Kohonen SOM with iterative or batch learning is a standard tool for data self-organization, too. Our method applies stress functions to pattern relationships in SOM and converts batch learning to discrete optimization task. Due to NP–completeness of SOM learning, optimization heuristics have to be used. Simulated annealing making use of Lévy flights is the recommended heuristics for this task. © 2018, Brno University of Technology. All rights reserved.

In the field of computer vision, network architectures are critical to the performance of tasks. Vision Graph Neural Network (ViG) has shown remarkable results in handling various vision tasks with their unique characteristics. However, the lack of multi-scale information in ViG limits its expressive capability. To address this challenge, we propose a Graph Pyramid Pooling Transformer (GPPT), which aims to enhance the performance of the model by introducing multi-scale feature learning. The core advantage of GPPT is its ability to effectively capture and fuse feature information at different scales. Specifically, it first generates multi-level pooled graphs using a graph pyramid pooling structure. Next, it encodes features at each scale using a weight-shared Graph Convolutional Neural Network (GCN). Then, it enhances information exchange across scales through a cross-scale feature fusion mechanism. Finally, it captures long-range node dependencies using a transformer module. The experimental results demonstrate that GPPT achieves exceptional performance across various visual scenes, including image classification, and object detection, highlighting its generality and validity. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

This review explores the advancements in MXene-based nanomaterials as flame-retardant additives for polymers and composites, driven by increasing fire safety demands across industries. It highlights the critical role of flame-retardant materials in mitigating fire hazards in structures, electronics, transportation, and textiles, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions due to stricter safety regulations. MXenes, a class of two-dimensional nanomaterials with unique structural properties such as high surface area, tunable composition, and superior thermal stability, are presented as promising candidates. The review discusses various synthesis and incorporation techniques for MXenes in polymer matrices, showcasing improvements in flame retardancy, mechanical properties, and thermal stability. Additionally, it emphasizes the multifunctionality of MXenes, which offer conductivity, electromagnetic shielding, and mechanical reinforcement alongside flame suppression. In conclusion, the review underscores MXenes' potential to address challenges in flame-retardant materials, advocating for further research to optimize their applications and explore synergies with other agents to enhance safety and sustainability in engineering materials. © 2025 Kingfa Scientific and Technological Co. Decentralized Energy Sharing Protocol using TÆMS Framework and Coalition-based Metaheuristic for Heterogeneous Robotic Systems

In this paper we describe a decentralized protocol that is applied for scheduling and management of energy sharing in heterogeneous systems. Particular system we have in mind comprises of agents with different mobility, energy harvesting and energy sharing capabilities herein called aPads, aFish and aMussels. aPads are surface vehicles that harvest energy and are able to transmit it to both aFishes and aMussels. aFish are underwater vehicles that can transmit energy to aMussels or to other aFish, and receive energy from aPads. aMussels, that can either be attached to the sea-ground or float on the surface, can only receive energy, either from aFish or aPads. For such a system to be able to function for an extended period of time, a decentralized energy management protocol should be designed, whose purpose is to schedule and coordinate charging of agents over time. These decisions depend on the current battery levels of different agents, as well as their positions, and should be done in a decentralized manner. In this paper we apply an energy sharing protocol based on TÆMS framework, originally applied to planning and coordination in aerial-ground robotics systems for search and rescue missions. We refine the obtained plans using the coalition-based metaheuristic for vehicle routing problems. We show execution schedules achieved using the proposed protocol and highlight its advantages and flaws when applied to our underwater scenario. © 2017

Various approaches are used for image smoothing and sharpening. The class of fuzzy filters is widely used in the case of spiky noise due to their non–linear behavior. A lot of popular fuzzy filters are realizable in Lukasiewicz algebra with square root. Frequently applied low-pass fuzzy filters were selected from literature and used for the image sharpening with dyadic weights. The first aim of the paper is to find the optimum sharpening with the best Signal–to–Noise Ratio criterion for various noise types and offer general suggestions for fuzzy filter selection. Our results are directly applicable to tomographic images from MRI, PET and SPECT scanners. © 2018, Brno University of Technology. All rights reserved.
