In this paper experimental verification of a mobile robot control and colision avoidance is presented. The control is based on the navigation function that was proposed in [2]. Navigation function agregates position, orientation and colision avoidance terms. Experimental results show that both position and orientation lead to desired values very quickly and reach them with small errors. © 2015 IEEE.

During April 7–21 2020, KAGRA conducted its first scientific observation in conjunction with the GEO600 detector. The dominant noise sources during this run were found to be suspension control noise in the low-frequency range and acoustic noise in the mid-frequency range. In this study, we show that their contributions in the observational data can be reduced by a signal processing method called independent component analysis (ICA). The model of ICA is extended from that studied in the initial KAGRA data analysis to account for frequency dependence, while the linearity and stationarity of the coupling between the interferometer and the noise sources are still assumed. We identify optimal witness sensors in the application of ICA, leading to successful mitigation of these two dominant contributions. We also analyze the stability of the transfer functions for the entire two weeks of data to investigate the applicability of the proposed subtraction method in gravitational wave searches.

In this paper, a problem of verification under what conditions it is possible to reject disturbances in a control system with an active disturbance rejection control scheme (ADRC) is considered. The complexity of this problem varies with the structure of the disturbance acting on the system. The conducted study is based on investigating similarities between the ADRC methodology and the well-known results of classic control theory on feedback linearization and disturbance decoupling. The main result of the work is establishing (and initially proving) the ADRC-applicability conditions. Some numerical results are presented to further justify the claim. © 2015 IEEE.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is the current very fast and accurate modality for noninvasive assessment of 3D retinal structure. Due to large amount of data acquired with this technique the resolution of 3D scans is limited. In this paper we present a new method for improving resolution of 3D macula scans while maintaining short acquisition time and robustness with respect to motion artifacts. Our approach is based on multi-frame super-resolution method applied to several 3D standard resolution OCT scans. Presented experiments where performed on volumetric data acquired from adult patients with the use of Avanti RTvue device. Each OCT cross-section (B-scan) was subjected to image denoising and retinal layers segmentation. The generated 3D super-resolution scans have significantly improved quality of the vertical cross-sections.

The problem of the singularities avoidance in movement control of the planar three-link nonholonomic manipulator is the main issue of this paper. Considered here nonholonomic manipulator is equipped with ball gears allowing to transmit the torque continuously from the engines to separate manipulator's links. This mechanical structure theoretically allows to control unlimited number of joints with use of only two actuators. One of important difficulties in control of this system arises from appearance of singularities in the kinematic description of the nonholonomic manipulator. In order to avoid this problem, we propose application of the state extension of the manipulator's kinematic model. The analytical studies are confirmed with simulations, where the closed loop feedback control was used with utilization of transverse function approach. © 2015 IEEE.

This paper is focused on a hybrid control solution designed for a skid-steering vehicle for point-to-point motion. It is assumed that the vehicle moves with limited velocities and accelerations in order to reduce excessive slip and skid effects. In order to obtain desired control properties, a motion planner is combined with a universal stabilizer taking advantage of transverse functions. To improve tracking precision the generalized type of transverse function is deployed and a new adaptive technique for the controller tuning is proposed. The planer is used to compute an auxiliary trajectory connecting points in the configuration space and satisfying assumed phase constraints. The control system is implemented using a laboratory skid-steering robot. The performance of the controller is verified experimentally and the results are discussed. © 2015 IEEE.

To model the cumulative deformation of granular soils under cyclic loading, a mathematical model was proposed. The power law connection between the shear strain and loading cycle was represented by using fractional derivative approach. The volumetric strain was characterized by a modified cyclic flow rule which considered the effect of particle breakage. All model parameters were obtained by the cyclic and static triaxial tests. Predictions of the test results were provided to validate the proposed model. Comparison with an existing cumulative model was also made to show the advantage of the proposed model.

KAGRA is a newly built gravitational wave observatory, a laser interferometer with a 3 km arm length, located in Kamioka, Gifu prefecture, Japan. In this article, we describe the KAGRA data management system, i.e., recording of data, transfer from the KAGRA experiment site to computing resources, as well as data distribution to tier sites, including international sites in Taiwan and Korea. The amount of KAGRA data exceeded 1.0 PiB and increased by about 1.5 TB per day during operation in 2020. Our system has succeeded in data management, and has achieved performance that can withstand observations after 2023, that is, a transfer rate of 20 MB s-1or more and file storage of sufficient capacity for petabyte class. We also discuss the sharing of data between the global gravitational-wave detector network with other experiments, namely LIGO and Virgo. The latency, which consists of calculation of calibrated strain data and transfer time within the global network, is very important from the view of multi-messenger astronomy using gravitational waves. Real-time calbrated data delivered from the KAGRA detector site and other detectors to our computing system arrive with about 4–15 seconds of latency. These latencies are sufficiently short compared to the time taken for gravitational wave event search computations. We also established a high-latency exchange of offline calibrated data that was aggregated with a better accuracy compared with real-time data.

Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. These findings highlight that chronic care needs far exceed acute care needs globally, necessitating health systems to adapt accordingly. © 2025. The Author(s).
